Tbf if you were running the Premier League that’s a great way to monetise. Wouldn’t mind it if more filtered down into the football league. Better than when the yanks do a split screen advert in the middle of sport!
I watched one game on a yank channel where the coverage was sponsored by one car company, the replays were sponsored by another car company and VAR was sponsored by a car insurance company. Thats far too much whoring.

It’s something i’d strongly recommend against trying in fairness. imagine all your worst nightmares of being a football fan being rolled into 1 league that lasts at least a season.

The thought of it makes me shiver
The refereeing in the national league was terrible, second only to the level of gamesmanship, time wasting and general shithousery. Horrible to watch at times, and all while 12 fans goad you from a vast empty away end. It could be a miserable experience at times.

Pretty sure it's not been posted but here's the second scandalous decision in the last few days against us:

We should be four points better off, in 23rd place level with Barrow. Instead we're still bottom. If we go down by four points or less then it'll be an absolute pisstake.
It's soft, but if you jump into the keeper like that and bundle him into the net you're unlikely to get much leniency from the ref these days.

To quote a Sunderland fan talking about watching Newcastle United win.. Its worse than shoving shite through a sieve.

agreed, there was one given against leon legge last night and there really wasnt much contact, both jumped for the same ball. they just get given nowadays

The FA Trophy was a vital part of our rise up the leagues. We won it between our 97 and 99 promotions. I was gutted when we sent a reserve team out to lose to Oxford City in the 15/16 season.

Looks like Farman just waves his hands about to give the impression he was fouled as soon as he knew he was getting nowhere near it.

But he’s not actually touched him?

I wouldn’t be as annoyed if the reverse hadn’t happened to us on Saturday

It certainly looks like he touches him, unless the keeper deliberately jumped into the goal mouth! Impossible to tell from that angle, the ref had a better view.

Either way, it's soft - I'd be annoyed if it was us.

It’s unlucky but goalies seem to get protected and any little touch gets pulled up nowadays.

re the carlisle game and the “foul” i think it’s one of those where it is a foul but it’s not.

To anyone over the age of 25 that’s not a foul, crack on there’s nothing wrong with it, but as the games got more sterile the minute you go near a keeper now it’s almost an automatic foul.

One of those youd expect to get if your keeper but be annoyed about if was against you, i guess when it gets deeper into the season and it affects sides either going for promotion or relegation it amplifies the decision as is the case for grimsby.

if you weren’t ever a league side (which you hadn’t been at the time) fair enough but to any club that’s been league it’s seen as hopelessly tinpot, we got to the final and lost to darlington.

In a way i was more happy we’d lost, having won that in our history would have been more of an embarrassment than anything else - there was only ever 1 non league trophy i was after and that got us back up here

I find it hard to believe you'd ever class winning a trophy at a Wembley final embarrassing, I'm sure York wouldn't have done when they won it and got promoted in the same season. Winning that gave me one of my best days out following Barrow, and I'm sure it still is a fond memory for fans of Wycombe, Stevenage and other sides that have since become established league clubs.

The worst one we got done by was away at Altrincham where a goal was given against us even though the ball had barely got onto the goal line, let alone fully crossed it.

Referees didn’t cost you a place in the FA Cup final though... still groaned about nearly 70 years on!

Have you seen the video from Australia. The linesman flags for offside but tells the ref that he isnt 100% sure and says to give a goal and then review it. The VAR shows it wasn't offside because a defender headed it to the scorer. Thats how it should be done. At our level we just have to put up with it.
Nope not seen, do you know which match that was in?

the fa trophy was ridiculous, we got to the final by chance than anything else, in the early rounds we played a reserve side, got chasetown in the qtrs who were in the NPL then somehow got past luton in the semi only doing so when they ended the 2nd leg with 9 men.

the final against darlington was one of, if not the worst games of football i’ve ever watched and it had extra time just to make it worse.

yeah, i stand by saying it would have been an embarrassment.

Going down to the conference for the first time might have some form of perverse novelty, but once you’ve been in it and been lucky enough to get back out the idea of being back in it is offensive at best.

we had one at Oldham away 2-3 weeks ago where a Scott Quigley shot hit the underside of the crossbar bounced about 2 foot over the goal line then bounced back up hit the underside of the bar and came out and wasn't given - so it's not just the NL.

Over half the season was played before christmas. You had two games a week until the end of november and about 8 league games until march.

Almost sounds like you didn't care about those FA Trophy replays?

if you want to talk FA Trophy replays look no further than Barrow and Enfield in the 1987-88 season. The 2 legged semi-final went to 2 replays.... and we were still robbed at the end of it.

and even if you weren’t in the fa trophy or a replay the team you were due to play would be in it and in a replay so you couldn’t play anyway!

We only had one in 3 seasons but had 4 games postponed for other clubs replays. The 1st and 3rd season we got knocked out first game. The 2nd season we got to the semi finals. The year we got promoted we played away to Solihull and if none of our supporters had gone the attendance would have been 55 instead of 125
