Well I said step 6 as a maximum, of course they could start lower. As I understand the process any new club would apply to both the FA and the league they wish to join. The FA will place the club based on facilities etc. Frankly step 7 only requires the most basic of facilities, so if they have access to the same ground it won't be an issue (I have no clue who owns it, the council?), and there is little point in beginning at step 7 if you can get in at 6.
Yes Erewash Borough Council own the ground.

well it doesn't make mutch sense them being in the S&W division with the likes of Banstape Bideford Totton Winchester Moneyfeilds and Salisbury in that leauge it would more sense to move them north with the Birmingham and surrounding area teams

Except it does, since moving them north would put them in the NPLD1S with teams like Cleethorpes and Frickley. It's the least worst solution.

Also Salisbury and Moneyfields are not in that league. Salisbury got promoted the the SLP and Moneyfields were allocated to the SLD1C.

You could make an argument for shifting them, and a bunch of other teams, between the SLD1S&W and the SLD1C, however it doesn't take into account the road structures. Evesham isn't too far off the M5. The journey isn't a huge amount of time further than Bishop's Cleeve. Are you arguing Bishops Cleeve should also be moved north?...

Salisbury were not promoted. They lost in the play-offs.

to us and to be honest I couldn't care less about how far Evesham would have to travel. as for Bishops Cleeve there a few clubs around Brizol,Mangotsfield, BMF Larkhall which is onl 3\4 of an hour away from Cheltenham and an hour or so from the Oxfordshire clubs

My mistake with Salisbury! No idea why I thought they were promoted when they weren't.

It's not just about how far Evesham would have to travel, it's about how far other clubs would have to travel to get to them. You are arguing it from the point of not being fair on the SLD1S&W clubs, but it also wouldn't be fair to put them north in to the NPLD1S on the clubs in there, or in the SLD1C on the clubs in there. There is no good solution, so they have to go with the least worst.

Hopefully it will all get fixed somewhat next season with the extra division. It does seem that this season there was an attempt to make a minimum number of sideways moves.

To be honest theres always the odd club who would have long travel what ever league they were in. Colwyn bay, workington, whitby and penrith spring to mind. Restructureing is long overdue especially makeing the northern league champions go up can only make travel costs for clubs cheaper. I also think the fa need to look at need to do a east west split in the north. For example at the moment north east/yorkshire clubs face colwyn bay do to north south split. You would think the fa just dres a line across a map in the office ha ha. A east west split is surely better. Quicker to get to say sheffield fc, frickley etc straight down a motorway or good train link as opposed to a treck across the pennines

or in our case in the SLP (take note Jemfy as WE were promoted NOT Salisbury) the long trek to the other side of the country to Kings Lynn
