I'd consider resting him then and playing atkinson at right back as I think he was a regular playing there for a good Mansfield side last season.

Going to Lose him soon as long time not to get booked and in truth I’d rather lose him for Man City than a league game!

Great win for the Vale and hope the young lad who went off early for Swindon is ok.

On Grant, I think the vast majority of our fans would say that he has probably been our best loanee in a very long time, which is saying something given we have a loan striker that has 21 goals!

The guy is an absolute monster in midfield at this level, full of energy, hard but fair tackling and just the right about of shithousery. Its strange because when I saw him play for Peterborough at Swindon a few years ago he looked like someone lost in a garden centre.

Iandolo (the lad who went off early) has a bad ankle injury, most of our fans have said that the tackle was hard but fair, but in this day and age I know they are trying to stamp our 'dangerous' challenges. Which is extremely difficult to police as injuries can occur innocuously these days!

Even our own fans can’t agree on OVF as to if it was even a foul, red or yellow to be fair! I thought yellow was right but some moan it wasn’t a foul and others have even suggested it was a red for the trailing leg. Main thing is the lad recovers quick as I don’t recall seeing a player carried straight into the home section to get him out via the paddock into an ambulance before.

Granty was excellent for us in League One, he left and we plummeted down the table. As long as you keep his head right he is a top player it’s just that attitude at times that seems to be a problem.

Aye hopefully he can make a quick recovery. Never want to see injuries like that happen to anyone. Seemed like two players battling fairly for the ball, just very unfortunate the end result.

Grant was very good yesterday as was Doughty and it is to the immense credit of Joyce, Burgess and Taylor that our midfield were able to look every bit the equals of them. Joyce in particular after struggling under Aspin is now one of the first on the team sheet for me, his positioning is first class. Be a nice problem to have once Manny is fit to play again.

Glad to hear Doughty impressed, he's another one that probably could and should be playing higher up but at times he's looked lazy and uninterested. I think Grant, Doughty and Lydon (injured currently) is a very good midfield 3.

Pleased for Vale fans that you seem to be turning the corner after years of bad management and bleak times, looking forward to the return at the CG, when hopefully we can get our revenge.

It’s nice to be excited again, generally last few seasons it’s felt like going to a funeral, you go because you feel you have to but don’t really want to be there. To not be looking at the bottom
and working out what we need to survive but looking at how we can hunt down the top 7 is pleasing.

Hopefully we can get back into L1 in the next 18 months and build with the new owners... either way hopefully your next visit will be a league one fixture as both clubs should be doing better than they have been.

Aye that’s the main difference being able to look forward to going see them play again. Certainly the previous three seasons at least it’s been more a case of being resentful at losing 90 minutes of my life that I won’t be getting back any time have gone to see them.

Given our clubs got relegated the same year to this division am pleased to see Swindon now look well placed to make a return back to L1 and wish them well in doing so.
