934 sold in advance, few hundred will be added on the day. Not a bad following to a half finished yellow dump we've seen far too much, in what is the most deprived part of the city.
Why does it matter that it's the most deprived part of the city? I go to away games to watch my team play and this being a local derby I'd certainly want to go and see my team play. Vale fans travel to Crewe in numbers because it's local, the living standards or beauty of the area has no impact.

I'd swap John Bowler MBE in a heartbeat for Smurf, he's done nothing for us in his 28 years as chairman.

A simple journey may turn out to be a bit more time consuming with all the roadworks at both junction 16 &17.

I agree, ask me to name one thing John Bowler MBE has done for us and I'd be stuck. Hope John Bowler MBE takes note tomorrow of what Smurf has done. Proper football chairman.

Smurf has invested massively in the club, the finances are fine, he wants fans to back his ambitions which is understandable.

Granted he has his twitter moments but he has transformed the club from top to bottom and if Crewe want to wallow between League Two and bottom of One then enjoy your chairman but compare how Vale lagged behind Crewe a club a degree smaller than Vale 3 years ago to where we are in comparison the past two seasons under Smurf I for one am thankful to him.

I will put up with his bumbling tweets for the progression he has provided the club and the backing. The season ticket scheme put in the past week for next season a great example of the progress we have made.

Vale took 2,240 fans to the last derby at Gresty Road, but Crewe’s following in last season’s game at Vale Park was 1,174.

The Vale chairman tweeted: “In my short tenure I have never understood why so few Crewe fans travel the short distance to support their team in a local derby.”

Crewe’s ticket sales are likely to increase significantly today, but the chairman told The Sentinel that Crewe had only reached around 600 sales yesterday .

The chairman added: “It would be cheaper for us not to have Crewe fans, taking into account the police bill and the extra security.

“We were told yesterday it was 600 (tickets sold). On that basis I don’t make any money from the away gate.

“But those costs are as much Vale’s fault as they are Crewe’s because of the history between the clubs.”

Smurthwaite, who enjoys a good relationship with his Crewe counterpart John Bowler, says anyone causing trouble at tomorrow’s derby will be severely dealt with.

He says he won’t tolerate thugs who spoil the occasion for law abiding supporters.

In the Vale Park derby in March 2010, some Vale supporters threw missiles and smashed the windows of coaches carrying Crewe supporters.

Smurthwaite said: “Anyone we catch doing that would have a lifetime ban.”

Guys passionate, as I've said his actions speak louder than his words.

Really hope the game is postponed until about April so we can win then and relegate them.

You fucking wish you had a 19400 capacity ground, nearly 50 seasons in the Championship (You've spent 12 :fl:) a Chairman who puts money in and our followings you sad trainspotting bastards.

Wanking over Bowler having a MBE and nearly at the point of tears when saying "I'm sorry Mr Smurthwaite, you'll never have 3 letters after your name"

Apparently questioning their shit support is bang out of order and will cause trouble.

What a cock.

Why would Smurf want an MBE?! Hes a football chairman/businessman!

Smurf has a point about their followings being pitiful look what Oldham took to Dale the other week but his point was that their support being below par means we lose money on it with the police bill no doubt heightened due to their recent behaviour and our past behaviour.

I notice that Smurf has had tomorrow's front page of the programme dedicated to the Crewe photographer who died at the game last season. Nice gesture.

Confident of a win tomorrow. Under Page we have tended to do a professional job of beating the weaker sides in the division, particularly at home. A big carrot of a definite top 6 position with a win too.

With all this play off all talk from the Vale fans its mad to think if we beat them, were only 6 points behind them with a game in hand, and were in the bottom 4.

Does Moore do anything for your lot? Any chance of an appearance?

I imagine he does a lot of chickening out of tackles, passing sideways, never taking on a full back and literally taking the ball 10 yards forward then 30 yards back.

Until a scout is watching, when he'll put in the game of his life.

Moore has barely made the bench so far, not injured as far as I know but possibly down to his mindset after the summer.

Same team that beat Posh, slightly disappointed but if we perform how we did second half we will do well.

The White smoke is rising above the Lorne Street though as the Pontiff makes a return. A late cameo and winner? Would be great!
