I don't see Sarcevic as a starter

Because he's been out for a while, or don't you rate him?

I'm looking forward to seeing Sarcevic and Pattison starting together in the new year.

Baldwin’s back?! Actually looking forward to Saturday now, I’m not sure what it’ll feel like watching him in person for the opposition team, probably the exact same sort of rollercoaster to be honest.

That will work only if Patto stays fit. He is the only legs we have in midfield. Sarcovic has not impressed me on the few occasions I have seen him. Perhaps I was expecting more.

All about opinions, but if Sarce is fit, he starts - it’s as simple as that.

He’s head and shoulders above what we’ve got.

Tough game. Think a draw looks likely and wouldn’t be a bad result.

* head and shoulders (excludes Alex Pattison who’s goal/assist stats in the handful of games he plays are miles in front of anyone).

Wimbledon are one of the toughest games in this league I reckon. It would be a good result if we can win here.

Agreed. From memory earlier in the season they were stronger at home than away but the stats suggest they are more than capable of getting a result on Saturday. We'll need to be on form.

We've got a lot of injuries like yourselves. They are mainly midfield player's. 4 or 5 of those missing would generally be starting. I'd settle for a point.

We can’t buy a win at home, McCann keeps messing with the lineup which is affecting confidence even more not sure what to expect at present

Tickets look like they are selling well and fast for our game on Friday night. Got a chance at our biggest ever home crowd in the modern all seater stadium era, 8,433 is the record for home fans only vs Everton in 2002, I think we might come close with the way tickets are selling.

Are we going that far back? You’ll be telling me Richie Smallwood was a 3x Championship captain the next time I watch him lose the ball for the umpteenth time.

No issues with Sarcevic, hasn’t shown anything yet for us in his few games though compared to others.

I mean, it’s not as if he won the league with Stockport last season now, is it.

By all means, look at it historically, but you’ll only need to go back a few month.

Incredibly, after a really poor run, we're still 2nd.

We just look a real shadow of the team we were earlier in the season. We're not losing loads but we're not winning either, and our attacking play has been pretty poor given the players at our disposal.

I guess I'd take a dip in form now rather than April.

It can't be understated how much we miss Garrity. I think he's one of the best players in the division, not necessarily technically, but for his influence on the game. It's no coincidence that our form has dipped since his injury.

We just need to get a win on the board and 3 points to get a bit of confidence back. I think Walsall will have a dip at some point, so we just need to stay in touch.

I know Carlisle fans paint a picture of this useless team, but they've got some decent players for this level, so you'd think it'll click eventually. Barring their last result, their form has typically picked up too just in time to play us.

We really need to start imposing ourselves on teams instead of worrying about them. The meltdown on our forum would be epic if we lose!

I dont think we are massively different now to then, obviously slightly but even when winning the way we set up was fine margins, if you think despite the domination Harrogate nearly pinched a point in the 94th minute, AFC Wimbledon we had the mad last passage of play which could of been 3-3, I think Fleetwood missed a sitter at 1-1 just before we took the game away?

Its just now things that went for us then have gone against us recently, the goal the other day, Crewe getting a late goal, the wind fluking Walsall's winner when 999 times out of 1000 that just goes with trajectory and is tipped over.

The issue is Moore plays the fine margins, we go 1-0 up we will defend rather than go for the kill, away from home be it a team at the top or bottom we set up to not concede and nick a 1-0.

That is good when it is working but does lead to only a slight change in fortunes to go against us. We need to put our fate in our own hands more and go at teams, especially at home.

By that logic Neill Byrne is our best defender? Absolutely no doubting Sarcevic’s brilliant CV over the years but that doesn’t automatically make someone ‘head and shoulders’ above the rest, especially not when Pattison for example who’s minutes to output/influence ratio is probably the best in the entire squad.

Neill Byrne played a bit part last season, whereas Sarce didn’t - it’s not even remotely comparable.

Don’t you see the irony? Ranting and raving about Patto and the guy can’t tie his shoes laces without pulling a muscle. What use is he.

Sarce - head and shoulders, like I said!

Port Vale away.
Predicting a close game but ultimately a defeat.
Last weeks defeat was a setback, but PV are on a poor run.
Would like to think we'll run them close and put in a performance with a bit of nous.
Our season needs to start on Boxing Day.

Yep.
There's loads of drama queens on the Buzz Moonie.
Personally, I think you should wind them up and still call it The Buzz is Back.

This I think is the first time Mike Williamson has managed against the Vale IIRC... the team he supports I believe!

The man has barely an ounce of passion so how he can support anyone is beyond me.

People have been saying this for months. We’re nearly 5 months into the season and it hasn’t, not even for a week. We’re just not very good and it isn’t going to click with these players. Not on Saturday, not in a month, not in 3 months.

Our fan base meltdowns are justified.

We’re coming up to half way into the season and we are rock bottom of the football league. This is off the back of the worst season in our history (in terms of results) and worryingly we’re currently worse than we were at the same stage last season.

I can’t really blame any Carlisle fan for going into meltdown after what we’ve had to endure.

We're not very good at the moment. I can absolutely guarantee that, with my many years of being disappointed as a Vale fan, that we'll make very hard work of it and the opposition will turn into prime Barcelona. I don't know what it is about Port Vale that seems to bring 'the best performance of the season ' line out way too often from the opposition. Remember New Years Day when you were really shit and we gifted you 3 points? We really are the patron Saint of giving a leg up. I feel like we might fall away before coming back stronger.

This stuff is nauseating in all honesty. We give no more of a “leg up” than anyone else. And if they were in form I dare say there’d be a post bemoaning how we’re up against a team in form. They’re bottom of the league while we are second and need to be dispatched accordingly. For a team that’s in supposed bad form we haven’t lost much either lately just to note.

Last season we certainly gave a few teams a 'leg up'. Burton, Cheltenham and Carlisle to name but 3. I may be completely wrong statistically but it does seem to happen regularly. It also doesn't feel like we play teams very often who are in the middle of stinking form, they're usually out the other side of it. Of course, that could be complete bollocks and a bias perception of reality.

It's true though that although we're in supposed poor form, we're still second and haven't lost many at all. I think it's more the manner in which we have played recently, which is very low scoring, low risk strategy. We miss Garrity massively, who drives the team on. The sooner he's back, the better.

If we rarely play a team out of form how can we give a "leg up"

On a serious note I think those defeats just get bigger notice than say losing to a team doing well and probably happens to everyone, we beat Morecambe, Swindon, MK when out of form and the only "leg up" would be Gillingham this season so for the 3 out of form sides we've beaten we've only lost 1.

We've also done well against teams in form this season.

The Carlisle defeat was just because we were crap last season and in as bad form as they were post October. We won 5 games in the last 39 League games so we were just a terrible side... worth noting though 2 of those wins came against a massively out of form Burton and at the time a massively out of form Exeter so no leg ups there for instance.
