We have beaten you by 3 goals on 4 of your last 7 visits.
Our full record against you is as follows:

Home - P18 W10 D7 L1 F31-A14
Away - P18. W4 D3 L11 F16-A31

It's not by much, but my point stands that we're better at yours than you are at ours, so the words "generally hand out a pasting at Vale Park" are not accurate in the context of games between the two sides.

Anyway, I only intended making the one post, unlike you Vale fans I don't spend half of my life on here. Feel free to come up with some other load of bollocks in order to have the last say.

Your the one analysing it, in recent years (most of your 4 wins are decades ago bar the 1 10 years or so back this ends in a home win).

Wasnt really a dig either, just stating usually this ends home win and was no overly surprise that Saturday ended in a home win.

Fairly direct, get the ball wide and cross it, or knock it over the top early. It works in the National League, and League Two, but less so in League One.

Oh, and the 4-0 scoreline disagrees with your opening line.
Come on mate...you know as well as I do that it's a one off game. Brentford beat Man City at the weekend but it doesn't make them the better team.

As I said, I reckon Ipswich and probably Wednesday are way ahead of us in terms of squad. The rest of the league is fairly evenly matched I'd say. Obviously some teams will lose more than others (like us), but there's not a huge gulf. Play that game again Saturday and have a better ref and it's potentially a different scoreline...just one of those very bad defensive days. Like I said, I don't think there was much between the teams, you just had the luck on the day.

FFS, give it up.

You lost 4-0 because of the ref and you're Man City and we're Brentford???!!! And "we just had the luck on the day"!!!

Listen we've been shit on occasions this season, for lots of reasons, but when we have been I've had the common sense to stay away from here, rather than try to argue that black is blue, and I'd suggest you, and the other Vale fans, do the same, as you're beginning to make yourselves look desperate with your constant refusal to accept that you were beaten fair and square, by a considerable scoreline, by the better team on the day, and by a team that will almost certainly finish considerably above you at the end of the season.

Just accept it and move on.

Aside from this debate - why would you not post on here if you lose ? It’s good to hear the perspective of what goes on at a club not just the good times but when it’s shit. It can be a bit of therapy on here getting it off your chest. And given your crap start it would have been good to hear your perspective.
General Lee has been flying the flag this season in your absence.

What exactly do you base the certainty that you'll finish "considerably above us" on? Seems a bit bias considering you've taken 18 games and still only managed to be ahead of us on GD?

You've been shit because you've not been as good as multiple other sides this season (same as us) hence we are both rattling around mid table where we will likely both end up to some degree.

Basing success on last season or recent seasons is pointless otherwise MK may as well get a play off place rather than be bottom.

As I said in my post, I wouldn't try to argue that black was blue, which is what I feel the Port Vale fans are doing, and I'd get no pleasure from running my own team down.

I am not sure we are to be honest, we were dire on the day and rightfully the players have been absolutely battered for it. We missed a couple of sitters, referee was a bit shit but still had chances to deal with the goals and didn't so can only blame ourselves.

You were mediocre and we were awful on the day and deservedly lost, if you don't hit your performance levels in this league you invariably get punished. Poor defending and a lack of clinical finishing and you dont win games simple.

MK had one good season, we've been top 8 for 4 of the last six, and top half every season since we've been up here. I think that qualifies us to know what's required in this league.

You've just come up (thanks for beating the red scum in the play offs) and I think you'll be surprised how certain teams, with greater experience and resources, pull away as the season progresses. I'd put us among them, and you not.

Anyway, off to Woking now to lose in the FA Cup.

We will have to see, I think your doubting our resources a little bit though... we are not the Port Vale of League One past with bonkers owners spunking any money we make on the latest Tesla. We should be comfortable this season without troubling the top end based on what I have seen of us and opponents so far which would be a solid base to push on from next season.

I imagine Oxford is a decent example of how we will be looking to develop at this level over a number of seasons.

I agree with this.

Yes, Oxford have had a few better seasons than us recently but they in no way are a bigger club with bigger resources. There's no way for instance that they would bring 1000 to vale park.

I'd imagine looking at the standard of both teams that they will both finish somewhere in the middle of league one. It's about par for both clubs. I think a few half decent seasons have set expectations a little high in Oxfordshire and gone to heads a little.

Oxford to be fair are probably a few years ahead in fairness, they went further down than we ever did but worked their way back up and have become established with a flirt with the play offs regularly enough. They are not a huge club for example at this level and have grown the fan base like we are now where we are both getting 8000+ crowds but key for us is holding onto those and build season by season.

Don't get me wrong, I think they've done well as a club and are certainly further down the track of rebuilding than we are. But it was the assumption and arrogant expectation that they would finish miles higher than us and are somehow this way bigger club that is fundamentally wrong. I can take that sort of talk off a Wednesday fan or Ipswich fan as they quite rightly should expect to be competing at the top. But with a club of Oxfords size it could just as easily unravel (as indeed it could with us if we keep giving goals away!).

I've said before that there's 4 or 5 clubs that you would place your mortgage on finishing in the top 7. The rest are much of a muchness. I feel more confident than ever, that in 2 or 3 seasons time, with some tweaking and additional quality, that we'll be competing at the right end. We're a bit too naive at the moment, hence we get the occasional spanking.

Fuck me, I give up. You Port Vale fans are deluded.

I get it that you want to stand up for your club, we all do, but you just won't listen to a rational argument. I could state all sorts of things, like the fact that we're now owned by three billionaires, have a new stadium on the way, and a stated aim of being a Top 30 Club, but I'd be wasting my breath as you'd just state that your billionaire is richer than our billionaire, or some other willy waving nonsense.

I tried to end my involvement in this thread, as I don't normally spend hour after hour on Internet forums, and it's become a boring thread, but this time I really have had enough.

I look forward to having the last laugh at the end of the season. Bye.

That's certainly the plan of the ownership, nothing is guaranteed of course but at least this "journey" has the right aims rather than trying to finance a new Tesla whilst clinging onto our EFL status.

No reason we can't if we build in the right way going forward as long as fans stay patient with it, some of the reactions were pretty harsh in the cold light of day on one shit performance over the past couple of months.

Who is Archie Collins? Does he play for our feeder club? Cannot be that good or we would have signed him by now.
Just a young championship level midfielder playing in L1. Don't worry, he makes a lot of teams look pretty silly every week, you're nothing special.

You might want to go to games rather than sitting at home writing nonsense on your keyboard

I haven't missed a game this season yet, but I just cannot recall this Archie Collins. Obviously he plays for our feeder club. He can't be that good otherwise your parent club would have signed him by now.
