Why are Salford so shit this year? Their recruiting seemed decent enough.

They do persist in playing Theo Vassell, who was every inch the bog standard NL defender a couple of seasons ago.

Crowley has been incredible for us, getting better every game. Superb Rodrigues replacement tbf.

Notts will go up, just need to stay lucky with injuries. Excellent team, know what they're about, for me their manager is their ace in the pack. He's destined to leave there probably pretty sharpish is the only downside IMO.

They'd still have the quality of player and muscle memory of style to see it home this season though.

Such nice words but obviously way too early to say but we are looking good to avoid that relegation battle.

We see Williams as special , others as strange :bg:

Total control , muchas gracias posessión.

Yes excellent team.

They've built on the very good team last year and improved them, added some excellent additions that have further strengthened the squad. Some doubts over their defence remain but if everyone is just going to let them play games in the manner they prefer they will just pass their way over everyone again and don't really need a particularly strong defence.

I still say they've had a very favourable fixture list so far, but you can only play those in front of you after all.

I said you, Notts and Mansfield automatics. Seen nothing to change my mind in general. Only thing I'll say is who gets all three right? Nobody. Swindon are coming into my thinking a bit. I knew MK Dons were getting forgotten about too much because everybody wants to forget them but they'll be up there. We have the tools but just not seeing it coming together this season for a few reasons.

Our work rate is phenomenal, we have possession stats like we do and loads of passes because they run their legs off every match. It sometimes looks like we're strolling around but the endless movement and closing down is just a lot of hard running.

October and November have very difficult fixtures as the table stands so come December we should know what we are looking at.

Justice for Jenner and Moniz.

Bitta pointless celeb reffing at the end there with about eight yellows and two reds in ten minutes without a bad tackle.

Statement stuff from Notts though, a clubbing. First team we’ve played who tried to play a bit like us and that probably showed us why teams don’t.

Don’t know what all the fuss is about, utter cannon fodder. Surprised they’ve got a point on the board tbh.

Even a lifelong pessimist like me has to concede that we are very good. Crowley’s been our player of the season so far. I think the favourable opening fixtures shouts are probably fair so not getting carried away but we should be competing for top 7 this season which is nice.

Think this is right, Williams is going on to manage at the top level probably. We’ve just got to hope he waits for the right job, definitely feels like we’ve got a good thing going here and if he can get another promotion then he’s going to be in demand for something bigger than a decent League One job.

Cracking evening out. If wasn’t for the owners you’d say nice little set up at Salford, friendly staff, decent pie and great terrace behind the goal. Posh round there though innit?

It’s laughable that Dan Crowley’s dropped into League 2, the bloke’s brilliant. Great that we lose probably our best player and replace him with someone miles better.

We had Crowley on trial a while back and you could see then that he is way too good for this level.
He is one of those players that you always wonder why he hasn’t achieved more in his career than he has.
There has always been rumours of attitude problems pretty much wherever he has been. As long as you are winning and things are going well I am sure he will be fine.
Keep him fit and focused and he is is a great player for this level.

From what I've seen Crowley has been our best player so far this season, just ahead of Bostock. His production has been top notch and so difficult to contain.

Interesting comments from TLW regarding Crowley being clearly talented but has underachieved in his career. Tbh I'd never heard of him but trust the recruitment because it's been so good so far.

Very much the same as Bostock and they are both loving life and thriving under Williams and Harley. They've both bought into it and dropped fow, which as you suggest isn't difficult when you are winning and playing great football, passing football, proper football most weeks. In the past these type of players have not worked out at Notts at all, but things have changed

Getting the most out of these sort of players appears a key strength of Strange Luke, as is converting players effectively into other positions like Nemane, Brindley, Austin. Both great abilities to have. What we don't know is how this coaching team cope when we lose or don't win 3 on the bounce but with tough looking months to come we might well going out sooner rather than later.

Nice to be stress-free on a Saturday and see which sides at the top of the table fail to win later today.

Only bonus of playing under the Friday Night Lights.

Didn't even know Notts were playing last night, why was that then?

Can anyone stop their relentless march to the title?

Salford is one of the worst away days out there for me, no pubs anywhere near, cash only at the ground & absolutely zero atmosphere in the home end

Salford looked toothless, I noticed no Luke Bolton in the side, must be injured.

County pressed well and got the second just as Salford woke up which killed the game, a deserved victory.

Their whole set up was weird - they tried to pass it out from the back constantly but were very easily pressed into losing it in dangerous areas. Then they had Matt Smith upfront, joined by another absolute giant in the second half, but refused to go long or get crosses in and had no movement to be able to get out of the press by passing it. Weird.

I loved it, but was on the beers in Manchester from midday and only got an Uber up to the ground at gone 7. Terrace behind the goal was great, a very well oiled Friday night following that had clearly been on half days at least, but there’s clearly very few in the home end who are actually invested in Salford. It properly emptied as soon as we got our second.

I definitely paid for a beer on card at half time as well, so they’ve sorted that out. :D

Think the relatively kind start shouts are sort of fair, but we have played five away and three at home now.

Crowley was the best player on the pitch and scored against us last season in L1, not surprised one bit he is doing well in L2. Finally fulfilling some of his potential maybe

I think he fits very well into the system which helps a lot. It'll be interesting to see if teams key in on him a bit more, I didn't think McGoldrick was great last night but obviously comes with a massive reputation so teams will focus on him.

Great day either way, need a few more toilets and more staff on the bar probably but otherwise I thought it was a decent place to watch a game. On another day one of Salford's chances at 1-0 goes in and we might not go on to win but I think we fully deserved it.

Definitely deserved the 3 points , the football we played and chances created in the last 15 mins of the first half was fantastic viewing. Just wish I was there in person.

That's the great thing of not being a one man team and having multiple attacking threats you can't focus on all of them.

Thoughts McGoldrick was good first half , average second.
