Just looking at our lineup today good that Wilson is back. Things just link up far better when he is in the team. Benning and Massey I’d say are very lucky to keep their spots. The condition of the pitch should work in our favour as they will no doubt want to play a short passing game so for that reason I fancy our chances.

Did have to smile at a comment from Garner about them having to defend our long throw well. That will be the one we haven’t scored once off in the year and a half we’ve used it. Pretty embarrassing we haven’t made more of it to be honest.

Aside from Delap and Tozer has any club ever used the long throw successfully? You see loads try it but hardly ever seems to work outside those two.

Interesting to see the pitch today with all this rain it may be a boggy mess!

Dropping Pett is my big worry.

It’s the lack of any real plan that’s our problem. We just lob it in and never really compete for the first or second ball. Waste of time really.

I’d have preferred Pett to play or another question that’s worth asking is where the hell has Brad Walker gone? I suspect the wingbacks will play more withdrawn in this so it will be more a case of five at the back.

Either that or we just go gung ho in a case of both defences are shit at the moment let’s try and out score each other.

Just close down the shot from 20-30 yards today Vale!

Been a fun game this, both teams playing their part. Very open if neither side have had anything clear cut. Think Conlon has been excellent in the middle for us. The difference you get up top with Wilson as well in terms of movement off the ball has been noticeable too.

Yeah it has but neither side that half looked like scoring so the defensive frailty of both sides not evident, maybe both are being cautious to that end to try and combat the issue.

Conlon has pulled the strings for us which we’ve missed when he hasn’t been in form. Worrall and their 32 is a good battle.

The only thing I’m really marking down in that half has been Benning. It seems whenever he has the ball it’s an adventure as to whether he can find someone in the same coloured shirt. Question for me is how much more we can get from Willo for a first game back? At a rough guess he’ll go off around 60 minutes for Mipo.

Hmmm yeah. It’s lacked attacking quality so losing Willo would degenerate it even further, they’ve not had a shot on target, we’ve had one. I can’t actually remember it so shows how it’s been so far!

Who was that player a few years ago, think he may have played for Wycombe...Exodus Geohagan?

That was a fantastic win for us today. Great way to bounce back after last weekend. Lovely run and finish by Dan Butterworth. We need to be getting him on a permanent in January.

Charlton came on strong after the goal but we held them off.

Typical first half for us. Start well..Miss an easy chance…concede…then shrink into our shells for the rest of the half. Dunno where the second half came from but we were awesome. Best half of the season. Enough chances to win 5 games, we are lacking a goalscorer though. Think we will be on the lookout in January for another striker.

Get in! That’s how you bounce back and Dazzler outsmarts Garner again!

Comfortable win and a great goal the ball to put Butts through was inch perfect.

Great win for us today and top of the promoted sides again. As I thought, last week was just one of those days. Within 4 points of the play offs and doing ok.

Charlton did a lot of that knocking it around the back. Possession for possessions sake. They only looked threatening once they had to and throwing big lads up front. Typical Garner side.

Crikey, a point. Only managed to find a stream for the second half but just in time to see a good goal from Jamma. Otherwise looked distinctly second best but hung on and even had a few chances of our own.

97th minute! Very good day for Ipswich!
Not often Adrian Mariappa scores!

No doubt was the ref’s fault .

Some sizeable gaps opening up at both ends already; 9 points between 3rd and 4th, then 6 points between 20th and 21st.

We are so weak and pitiful at the back without Dan Scarr. Pretty sure he is the only player in our squad with the bollocks to put his head on the line to try and win aerial balls into the box.

More points dropped to kick and run merchants. Thankfully we have a couple weeks to recover before a well overdue home game. December is going to be a big month but the January transfer window will define our season.

We’ve been beaten several times this season by teams who just play with men behind the ball, hit on the counter and play for set pieces.

No idea if this is how Cheltenham set up their stall at home or not, but I’d say it’s their best option for 3 points.

We tend to have shot our bolt early in most games as well, so if we can be kept quiet in the first half then that bodes well for the opposition.

Well. Don’t say I didn’t warn myself.

Cheltenham got the tactics right today, started with men behind the ball, let us come on to them and countered.

Their goal was a deflected one, but meh, they count, and we had plenty of time to try and work our way back into it, but never really looked like achieving it.

Ainsworth is always Mr Positivity and generally tries to find the silver lining in everything in his post game comments…he said that we were poor today, which equates to about as harsh a verbal pasting as he’s ever going to get.

CTFC defended doggedly though, did what they had to do, and their CBs mopped up everything, so fair play, we got what we deserved.
