Those two statements you quote are actual mutually harmonious.
[#] Players are instructed to play to the whistle, irrespective of whether they think the referee got it wrong.
If you had bothered to extract full quote, you'll read that I felt uncomfortable at refs decision although FGR benefitted from it.
[#] All teams indulge in gamesmanship. That is not cheating.

Once again I have the benefit over yourself.
I was at game so have 1st class knowledge of incident.
But same with your comments regarding game against Scunthorpe, your opinions are all 2nd hand or from a short video clip.
So I don't need to apologise for voicing honest opinions that you may disagree with.
Okay okay FGR definitely NEVER cheat I will bow down to your superior judgement, and the game I watched last season when Jamille Matt threw himself to the floor with no contact whatsoever from any GTFC player to cheat, sorry I mean to gamesmanshiphis way to a penalty must have all just been a bad dream.

Ah now it is apparent why FISH has a bee in his bonnet towards FGR.
That loss contributed towards Grimsby being relegated down to National League.
Penalty at 40 secs into video.
I'd forgotten all about it but yes it looks soft and I'd be peeved if I were a Grimsby fan.

But the reality is that Grimsby were rooted to base of table from Match 29 until final game of season, Match 46, and finished 5 points + awful GD adrift of safety. Even if they had secured a draw or even a win against FGR they would have still have been relegated.
But I guess FISH needs a match to falsely claim they were unjustly relegated.

You’re just making yourself look silly now old bean, please can you show where I say that it contributed to our relegation, or that we were unjustly relegated?
In fact I’ve always said the opposite, that we fully deserved to be relegated but please feel free to spout as much utter rubbish as you like if it makes you feel better.

Secondly you say it was a ‘soft’ penalty.
No, it wasn’t soft, it was blatant cheating as anybody with eyes can see.

And thirdly, thanks for the link to Grimsby v Man City but not sure what relevance it has to this discussion.

Good worked goals today, both of them. The pass and finish for the first is superb and the second Oates did very well to set it up.

Less said about Danny Johnson penalty the better mind.
Apart from the awful pass by Spearing that led to the terrible header from Duffy and the bounce from the hoofed ball that led to Clarke being wrong footed and the complete disorientation of our defence after that its probably a goal of the season contender that 2nd goal. Maybe i watched a different goal.

Oates did really well for that second to make it a simple finish for Johnson, I made quite clear Tranmere were shit, get back to getting wound up by ya lil mate

Agreed wrong link added last night. YouTube had flicked forward I I had not noticed.
Now amended.
Contentious penalty at 2 min.

I may be making myself look silly but you are coming across as a bitter cry baby looking to create disharmony on site. You've taken to checking out League 2 team FGR videos although they are of no concern to National League team Grimsby Town.
Pack it up and concentrate on Grimsby trying to get back into The Football League at 1st attempt.

Mansfield fans are a weird bunch.

That FGR fan is pretty monotonous and repetitive.

FGR have always been shithouses. You're just actually playing some decent attacking football this season to go with it. Didn't have chance to do it against us as we ended the game as a contest after 10 minutes, and saw it out with relative ease.

Most teams shithouse though. The teams that do it best tend to win. And if you win it annoys people more so more people call out the shithousery and it makes it look like you shithouse more then other teams, when in fact your actually just better at shithousing then they are. Quality over quantity and all that.

We do seem to be worse in some games then others tbf, Bradford and Tranmere often see us at our worst for whatever reason.

After watching the game back it was an impressive effort to make us look so decent. i can’t remember Tranmere actually winning at mansfield tbh.

Absolute quality, him and Conlon are a level above (consider the times you played us last it was Pugh, Kay and Tongue!)

First goal for us at the weekend but his vision and passing are top drawer for this level and been crucial to our vast improvement this season.

I agree, Port Vale I think it was did the Danny Cowley classic mid-game team talk, fair play to them, up to the authorities to stop it.

Think we’ve won once ever at whatever name Field Mill goes by now. Hence my prediction and think BITDHSS was of a similar view. Though wrongly didn’t

Only happened once, so no surprise that I and think BITDHSS said earlier in this thread that we’d probably lose. Wasn't expecting two bad halves following the disaster of a second half v Northampton.

Mansfield fans do seem to be some of the more prickly on this forum though…

Fair enough, i’ve seen fans from all clubs be prickly at some stage, some more than others though.

We do travel well generally and suspect people are making the most of being able to go to away games again. Hopefully it will continue and I really want to be part of away days again soon. Must take my boys along, they’d love it.
God knows what sort of crowd we will get when we get a trip of less than 200 miles! Though that won't be until after Christmas!

It would appear that FGR Stroud needs to go to Specsavers:

As fans, do you genuinely not have any degree of shame or at lesst embarrassment as to how FGR conduct themselves in that side of the game? Or do you really believe others act similarly to that same extent?

Apart from us you’ll be restricted by the tinpot nature of the other stadia. You’ll get circa 1000 at the others.

On the other hand (i don’t agree with how they go about their business btw) it’s for the officials to decide whether it’s a foul or not and secondly if a ref is poor enough to be took in by it to it yourself.

It’s been happening in international football for time, look at how the south american’s, spanish, portuguese abs italians go about their football.

Hardly ideal but life sometimes sadly

im not too happy with our shithousing this season.

we definitely needed more of it, after Aspin/Askey effectively banned any of it, and it genuinely was costing us points because everyone does it to differing extent

but we have crossed a line for me, a couple of times this season, such as the Covolan goalkick v Swindon.

I'm not totally convinced the team talk v Mansfield was manufactured intentionally, as i've not seen us do that before or after, this season, and it wasn't like we were clinging on despite being clear second best. but if it was - then this is another example

a little bit of time wasting here and there, and a subtle kicking the ball away I'm ok with - that is for the referee to manage. it's a bit unfair to expect the referee to break the laws of football when some cnut goes down holding his head, even if it is clearly a load of bullshit. I'd like to think the ref will just keep one in the bank for next time and level it up a bit, but that rarely happens.

We have a couple of players who I think overdo it (a pity that one of them is also extremely talented), and I wish they wouldn't. But we are hardly Wycombe Wanderers

It’s funny as before covid when I went to most games you don’t really see as much of it as your more wrapped up in the game and a bit more blinded to it.

Watching on iFollow for most of last season and missing a few games this season you are a bit more detached so notice it more when the players shithouse. I would say we aren’t always that bad tbf, but the likes of Adams and Aitchison do like a dive. Cargill too seemingly.

Adams is a talented lad but someone really needs to have a word with him about the time he spends on the floor. He would be a better player for it.

We have definitely improved our shithousery which was non existent under Askey. I'm certain it cost us at least a playoff spot in the curtailed season as we lost a ridiculous amount of points from winning positions due to our naivety.

I'm all for a bit of time wasting here and there but I dislike diving, especially if there is a chance on without it.

I dislike it but love that we've started doing it and what I mean by that is that we've joined the club. I would rather no one did it but we've been at a disadvantage to teams who do it for so long its about time we matched up.

We've raged over Stevenage doing it, or Swindon a few seasons back were masters at it for example and so if you cant stop it do it...

Usually FGR games have been good encounters and never really seen it against us bar Adams was it when we won 3-2 and Trevor Kettle sent Pope off for calling him a cheating **** is funny when it comes back around and bites teams though... Exeter timewasting a couple of years ago with their keeper then moaning when we equalised in the 96th minute!

We are not going to stop this time wasting until there is a clock that stops when play is stopped like at basketball.

You.mean like the referee's watch? You know, the thing that decides the minimum amount of stoppage time added on at the end of each half? :ffs:
