Well I enjoyed that.

Great fighting spirit from the team after giving away two stupid goals in the first half hour.

I’m sorry Vale fans, but I felt the ref was awful for both teams. There were numerous decisions given in Vales favour that were at best questionable.

Vale are a great team, which adds to the awesome feeling at full-time.

Up to 7th having played a game less then everyone above is. Crazy, crazy times. 3905 in attendance meaning 3300+ in the home end. Our biggest recorded crowd for a non-Cup or friendly match. I’ve been in home crowds a 10th of that size

Congrats to you guys, not going to lie it’s a little bit raw right now but on to the next game. Two good teams going at it and to be fair you’re not going to win every game.

Good luck to Sutton any way. You definitely belong at this level.

Fair play to you. You'll get a lot of points particularly at your place. You've got a big team and with the amount of balls you put in the box, you're going to score goals.

First half hour I thought it might be 4 or 5, we just looked better. Let you get back into the game and then some really poor defending.

Disagree about the ref. Two of his decisions led directly to your goals. Without them we would have had a point at least. None of his decisions directly led to our goals. The winning goal was a joke, even your players had dropped to defend a free kick. It was a clear free kick to us and the ref even booked our player!

We need to move on quickly as a similar thing happened last season. We were on 19 points and lost 4-3 to tranmere with 2 goals in the Las minute. We then went on to win 3 in 25.

Best of luck for the rest of the season.

That deja vous is what bothers me most from game 11 last season. It’s different players and management but failure to get a result next week and the worries will creep in.

Worrying as much as the referee gained them the opportunities the defending was abysmal and reminiscent of those Tranmere and Walsall mares last season. Sutton had one tactic, long balls into the box, nothing else just that and we’ve conceded 4, it should be basic stuff at this level to defend those.

We missed Legge today and he deals with those but why take Procs off?

As much as it’s great to be on the positive side of that kind of result, it’s gutting to be on the wrong side. But I guess that’s what makes Football both beautiful and evil.

We should have been able to cope with their tactic of throwing balls in the box. With legge we would have won comfortably.

More disappointing than anything as we had the superior quality to win the game.

Decent game for a 0-0. Should have put the game to bed with 1 off the line and Clarke hitting the bar from a yard out. Dominated the second half - on another day we take all 3 points. Played some nice stuff with Willmott and Cooper running the show in midfield. Look a better side with more energy post Flynn. Bradford are a typical Adams side - pump it long to the plump fella up top, Rhead mk2.

When we got it down we carved them open time and time again, but at times got too deep and dragged into their long ball game.

Imagine DC will have them defending balls into the box all week!

That Lloyd looks too small and lightweight to me and doesn't score goals I'd send him back to Cheltenham. I can't understand why he was brought on. He should have kept proctor on as at least he could have helped out defending these high balls into the box. The last 2 defeats we have had have both been where teams put high balls into the box and if legge was playing we could have kept them out. Ref was garbage we committed 10 fouls and had 5 booked 6 if you count Clarke Sutton conceded 12 fouls yet just had the keeper booked for what was probably timewasting. We always seem to be on the end of poor referee performances, we hardly ever get anything in our favour. Even when we do like the Rodney incident at Swindon he still ends up with a 3 game ban. I still think this is vales best squad since the league one days under page so top 7 is still likely. Sutton won't go down but more midtable in my opinion.

Take the rough with the smooth. As I say this league is so even anyone will beat anyone on their day so just have to roll with it when you’re on the wrong end.

Just need to dust ourselves off and take it out on Barrow next week.

Scunthorpe are the only side vale have played this season that were in the bottom half of the table when we came to play them, which means we are playing sides when there in good form.

Once the emotion drops off I guess we can look at the fact there was an evident gulf in quality today in terms of on the ball, and has been in a few games against sides doing well for us so that bodes well.

We just have this Achilles heel we need to sort out with long balls into our box. Northamptons winner was a long throw…. All four goals today, the three shockers against Rochdale who had a big lad up front.

With Legge we deal with it but without we lack the physical height. We can out football teams on the deck these days but need some grit at the back.

Think we might be getting relegated
That was one of the worst first halves of football I’ve ever seen.

On the Train out of Leeds now and there’s one Scunny fan blindly defending the owner and slagging off the manager. Alway been pro club if it’s the same bloke. Mad.

Bouzanis was booked after full-time, along with a member of the Vale management team, possibly Clarke.

The only player booked for time wasting was a Port Vale player around the 62nd minute. (For context he was taking too long at a throw-in)

Kick him off the train and leave him there, how anyone can defend Swann anymore I'll never know

Our assistant Crosby was booked at full time trying to get to the referee.

For some reason I thought it may have been Clarke. I think Bouzanis was booked for the same incident

He was yes, DC got booked after the 2nd goal raging over the throw in decision.

Me and the bairn smacked about ten Harrogate fans coming out of the ground. We also indecently exposed ourselves to some of the ladies lol. This coke from Peru is crazy stuff but I like it

Top 5 firms in this league
Santini Group from Indonesia who own 30% of Tranmere Rovers and have an annual turnover of €12bn. Essar the shirt sponsor, provide 16% of all fuel in the UK and have a global turnover of €14bn. Ecotricity are becoming quite big and One Call are fairly large. Cant think of a 5th one but i am sure others can tell you of more.

I'd have loved a couple of decisions full stop !

You were good I have to say, lucky with the first and the own goal and obviously not happy with the joke decision leading to the last. But we didn't defend well enough and you took your chances.

Steve Bruce next Carlisle manager….
I’d quite like to see Steve Bunce manage a football team. That would be a hoot. I don’t follow boxing much, but he is probably my favourite sports commentator.

Yeah credit to Sutton, they do what they do well, stayed in the game and put us under intense pressure at times with the balls into the box.

They reminded me of Harrogate last season a bit and they had a good season.

Top 5 firms in this league

Is that a question?

Not up to date with what the kids are up to with their little Green Street wannabe shite.

Back in the day GHS, The Ointment and VLF had a decent reputation I suppose. Same with SAS at Swindon and Fine Young Casuals at Oldham.

Others will know more about their own firms then me though. I go to football to watch football and have a pint or 3.

Having taken stock, I feel like you're bound to lose games throughout the season. We look to have more quality than most, even the teams above us, so over the course of a season I'd hope that bears out.

One of those days today. Play that again tomorrow and I think we'd win. A few poor refereeing decisions, a deflection, an own goal. Sutton are going to be good at home but I suspect on our bigger pitch at vale we win comfortably. They'll give a lot of teams a tough game at home, it's basic tactics 4-4-2 , pump balls into the box, play like a cup game.

Didn't see the game but listened to the first 30 minutes, sounded dire tbh.

Carlisle must really be poor to lose 3-0 to us, that really is awful.

Nice to have Thomas & Nicholson back and making an immediate difference.

I’m not even sure the old school VLF are a thing any more to be honest. It’s rare much happens at a Vale game any more other than a few Orient fans last week went looking for it after the game near to the fire station outside the ground and quickly realised it wasn’t a good idea.

With that said I spent most my life growing up in a very Stoke dominated area so was more familiar with some of their lads than Vale tbh. Don’t see the appeal of it all myself in all honesty. Would rather a couple of beers watch the game and go home but each to their own.

In fairness since the take over there hasn’t been much bother at all, that and the lack of any real rivalry down here it has been focused on being much more of a family club… so much so I take my daughter this season.

There were some unpleasant scenes at some games under Norman for example with games such as Wolves but thankfully that element seems less of an issue.
