There's a lot to be said for having a 100 year lease on a ground from the local council by the sounds of things.

Get your facts right Adam, there are still two payments left £214,000 in March 2018 and a further £214,000 in March 2019. The ground will then be owned then by the John Radford Stadium Co.Ltd and not by Mansfield Town Football Club Ltd.
I was under the impression that JR promised to sign the ground over to the club as soon as he acquires ownership.

Splitting club and ground is getting more common, we have ours now split (and the shop as well is separate IIRC)

Essentially I guess it means owners can flog a loss making club then keep the ground and make rent for years!

It's working well for West Ham.

We're all missing the point here chaps and chapettes.... the only question that needs answered regarding Bury is,

are they marmite?

Shame there's no fit and proper persons test to owning a football ground. There should be, and perhaps a limit on how much owners can charge clubs in rent.

There were a few of their fans on here which were "somewhat unfortunate", but ultimately, the vast majority of them are just another set of fans who are poorly ran by a dodgy chairman. Another set of fans failed by the FA and their "fit and proper test".

The fact it's already happened before doesn't sit well with some, kinda like a North-West version of Notts Co.

Bump. Not as sure that we are going bust these days but who knows what will happen.

Most of our players I expect to be shipped out in the summer if they can. Beckford etc would piss on this league. Chairman has stated he isn’t concerned about loss of income from L1 to L2...

We’d probably on paper have the best team to ever grace this level if we kept even half our team... however football is not played on paper as we have learned so severely this season.

Hoping for a mid-table finish.

I don't really care who comes down, only Southend and Gillingham are difficult to visit from Shropshire, and they both look safe; Grimsby just need to stay up so I can go to some old places rather than playing 'The Red Lion' or whatever in a pub league.

‘Best team ever’. Fuck me, I’d concentrate on not being the worst team ever in L1.

I think it was a windup, I think.

Plus bury away is about as appealing as an ingrowing toenail. Whatever, if they come down I hope we go up

We are down. Thankfully not the worst team officially, Stockport have that honour.

I said we may go bust and most of our players will likely he shipped out in the summer if possible. Not sure where the wind up is.

Looking at our team on paper many expected us to be in the play-offs not bottom of the league. So I doubt it’s unreasonable to say the same squad (on paper) would be immense at league Two level.

On paper, I’m hung like a hippo.

In reality, more like a church mouse.

That's almost word for word what the Doncaster fans said when they came down and they were only four points adrift of safety when they were relegated, with a better goal difference than some of the teams that survived. If they put in performances similar to those they're currently putting in in League One then there's no reason to assume they'd do well. All 'good on paper' means is they did well in the past, well next season 2017/18 will be part of the past and those players who were good on paper when Bury signed them will now be one or two years since the last time they were performing in a decent squad so there's no guarantee getting those sort of performances out of them again will be simple. There's loads of players down here who have in the recent past been too good to play at this level.

The same Doncaster that ended up getting promoted at the first attempt??

Not saying we will... we won’t. But Doncaster is an odd example. Chesterfield is more likely.

I think the criticism towards Bury is justified, it’s one of those clubs where something is always going off, bit like how Notts County used to be, incredibly lucky to still be a functioning club.

I don’t think they will do much next season without many new additions either, when you are having a poor season like Bury the rot is fully set in, they might have some really good players (I couldn’t name one so I don’t know) but it’s pointless if you can’t perform as a team.

They didn't piss the league though did they, and were a better side in League One than Bury are.

I can't imagine if they came back down they'd be particularly popular

The "shakers" is very apt

Are any teams popular in this league??

We don’t compete to make friends. Mansfield are essentially a carbon copy of us too so odd for a Mansfield fan to comment.

Whereas Mansfield and Steve Evans are very much flavour of the year in this division.

Nice to see you still make hypocritical comments.

I hope your relegation gets confirmed soon. No-one hates Mansfield, and folk only hate evans as he's so successful.

I’m sure it won’t be too long until it’s confirmed.
