The 1.4m figure originally came from ‘tippy tappy’ on Stagsnet who was the supporters director on the board and also said that it was same for the first season back in the league.

The following season when One Call had all their troubles the budget was cut to £800k and that is the reason Cox moved on and Murray’s second half season team finished fourth from bottom.

Employers national insurance contributions are sometimes not quoted in figures so another 10% on top is possible.

‘Paul Cox's budget in our Conference Premier Championship season in 2012-2013 was said to be around £1.8 million. Paul Cox said the budget in 2013-2014 was initially around £1.6 million but he then had to reduce it when JR tightened the purse strings in January and cut back on his loans from One Call. The budget was said to have been halved to around £800,000-£850,000 in 2014-2015 which is why we were struggling to attract players. Both Paul Cox and Adam Murray said that season that we had a similar budget to Accrington and Dagenham’

Anyway back on to Orient - well done for coming back so soon!

Only Wimbledon have done it in a similar fashion that I can remember. Crawley did have 40 goal Tubbs who was the best striker around but they had a really solid side all over, assembled properly apart from the joke transfer of Brodie. I remember that your lot signed a load of players who after about 5 games were binned off by Cox! I'm sure you were near the bottom after about 10 games.

Our budget is about £1m.
I don’t think our budget was much higher, if at all. All our players were signed from other non league clubs, had mostly been released or were out of contract etc.

We didn’t really have a consistent goal scorer that season or even a goalie beyond January, we half-collapsed post Christmas and had to scramble through the play off final. We were a tad lucky at times but we’d have been unlucky not to go up too. But most importantly we didn’t have a big budget.

Christ this thread is depressing to read as a Wrexham fan !

Mansfield , Oxford , Cheltenham , Luton, Cambridge , Bristol Rovers, Tranmere , Torquay , York , Barnet, Grimsby, Lincoln, Macclesfield and now Orient all promoted back before us ! Quite a list .

I hope our time comes but as previously said , it’s very difficult.

Anyways , congrats Orient !!

Thanks for the friendly welcome but we are not ready for the champagne just yet.

To add to the debate above someone pointed out that there are too many north west tinpotters getting into the league and this is very true. For me personally Harrogate (yorkshire) were a very likeable well run club with a father and son set up. Their fans are a great bunch and their team try and play the right way and were one of the more impressive sides to visit Brisbane Road this season despite a 2-0 defeat. Harrogate is a nice area and they even made our match unsegregated despite us bringing over 1,000. All the reports were it was one of the best away days in a while. The only time I can ever remember at home we returned the favour and allowed our home support to sit in the away end with no trouble at all which shows how much the club trusted Harrogate. Their club are a credit to the national league but maybe football league is a step too far at the moment. They also have a plastic pitch which would need to be sorted, but I wish them all the best. Other than that you have to feel for brother Wrexham so those are the two I am rooting for IF we get the job done on Saturday

People should stop congratulating Orient until they've actually done it. Otherwise you're all tempting fate and they'll somehow fuck up and let Salford in.

I hope Orient do make it back, but I dare not join in the congratulations until they have managed it.

I also hope Wrexham follow them.

Yeah think most of us would like to see Orient and Wrexham back up, Wrexham have been out the league far too long.

Should never have fucking gone down in the first place if it wasn't for such c*** we had as owners.

Northampton, Walsall, Tranmere, Oldham, Exeter, Colchester, Swindon - its like League One from ten years ago! :69: Its nice to be back, this league ain't so bad :)

We have a young talented squad, but we will need around 5 players to strengthen the side - It also depends on how many we may sell as well, as some of the talented young players we have may be sold if the price is too good to turn down.

Oh and I have nothing against Forest Green - But you will be my only new ground next season, so uh - Please stay down for my benefit :10:

Well done you O's. Onwards and upwards. A nice localish derby at a decent ground is always a plus, even though once upon a time they used to erm steal our players and managers. Yeah I know, I really should let it go after all this time  Now if only Wrexham could end a decade of hurt and join them.

Thoroughly deserved, very happy to hear that despite the crap you had to go through, you're on the up again

Good news, well done and welcome back Orient. It's weird, it feels like they've been gone ages, but it's only been 2 years. Glad they're back.

We can now concentrate our efforts on securing the Non League Double, putting us alongside great names such as Wealdstone, Colchester and the last club to do it - Wycombe Wanderers :bdick:

Will be interesting to see how Bonne and JMD get on, as ex-Imps.

Not sure Colchester had full belief in Bonne there but dedwardp might be able to shed some light on that.

JMD's been shipped, or frozen, out of the 3 Clubs he's been at between his successful spell at Dagenham and current club Orient - two of those FL ones. He needs to settle down and make a go of it somewhere. He looked well short of FL quality here last season and likewise at Coventry albeit at the top end of the league.
