Haha, I've heard it all now. Perhaps we should change to a purple kit so some dullard from Wolverhampton can get excited?

And if our ground was that tiny, that would mean Wolverhampton would have no problem selling the away end out. But you didn't. Birmingham did, mind. West Brom will too.

Can see why people think Rotherham is boring. Another red Yorkshire team in the same neck of the woods as Doncaster and Barnsley that we've had up here in recent years. Stadium may be new but it's tiny. TBH it's probably up the with the worst away days in the league imo. At least Shrewsbury would have been a new ground for most.

But yeah well done, you're here on merit as you say.

:hail:

Though I think 99% of fans would go one further and say one of the worst in the entire football league. I certainly wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Goals: Saville (40), Bodvarsson (64)

Attendance: 11,291 (2,567 Wolves fans, sold out)

Super. Now can we have the same for Aug 2014 and Dec 15. I mean one was your first away game of the season as well and you still didn't sell out.

Pleased to have them back given it’s a close one for me. Was thoroughly deserved on the day as well

We've sold out twice away to Rotherham in your new build, cannot find figures for the other one. One of our sell outs was the first game of the season (my post above). You gave us 2567 and we sold the lot.

I think Rotherham's a fairly decent away day. Ground and boozers well within walking distance from the train station.

Much more local for me than Shrewsbury would've been too.

Think they'll struggle again though unless they spend, they seem to have the same problems as the season when they went down - lack of a clinical striker and defence which can be leaky.

Please, you need about 6 different shots before ever stepping foot in Rotherham in the first place, then you have to negotiate waves upon waves of chavs that will look to rob you if you look even remotely half decently dressed. It’s a dump and the Wolves fan is right to call it an awful away day, the ground isn’t even that good it’s barely better than Millmoor and that place was falling apart.

In South Yorkshire the order of away days from best to worst is;

Sheffield United
Sheffield Wednesday
Doncaster
Barnsley
Rotherham

I think we'll struggle as well, and you won't get many Millers who will be saying otherwise. I do believe we'll have a much better go than our third season there last time which was a catastrophe. We're changing the blueprint. We tried to rely too much on older heads last time. We now have youth and energy, and we'll be among the fittest in the division, which we'll have to be as we won't have the ball as much.

We need to strengthen. Our midfield sis pretty strong but were weak at the back and up top. Three of our better players are only on loan.

It will be hard but we're pleased to be back.

What kind of football site is this? It's like watching silly boys arguing over who's dad would win they had a fight!

I couldn't care less who enjoys coming to the NYS, I enjoy going so that'll do for me. In fact I hope all the away fans leave our ground miserable next season.
I recall the last time we were in the championship we got voted best away day by travelling fans but that's only because most of them beat us quite easily.

Consolidation would be perfect for us, but it's probably going to be a season of backs to the wall struggle.

But who knows, we've got one of the best young managers in English football and an ambitious chairman so it could happen.

Where's SERNWA? He would have sorted this Donny v Millers squabble in seconds with a suitable put down.

You also know what to expect up here so that's an advantage too.
I would imagine it will be tough for you and most will have you earmarked to go back down but you'll give it a better go this time I should think.
A question if you don't mind. Is your 'ambitious' Chairman rich enough to match his ambition? This league is seriously expensive as I'm sure you know already. Maybe Millwall have shown you the way to go next season?

Maybe Millwall, yes. Brentford too as a club about the same size as us. If we can match what they’ve done I’d be more then happy.

Brentford will always have the advantage of being in London. They will be able to attract players that you can't on that basis alone.

Also Paul Warne one of the best young managers in England? Steady on there...

Best young managers? You lot wanted him out in early autumn

As for the rest of you, we are here on merit and because we deserve to be.

Not sure how we can be classed as a boring away day. There's a million pubs within walking distance, the train station is only 10 mins walk maximum, and if you're fussy about your ale, Sheffield is a ten minute train journey and has even more boozing options than Rotherham.

Yep, you deserve to be back.
But a million pubs within walking distance?
You must be able to walk much further than me!!!

The Bees wage bill was comparable with ours I believe so maybe not them. How they are doing it must be down to sales as their crowds and corporate income must be a fair bit less.

I'd be surprised if Bristol City's wage budget didn't piss all over Brentford's.

Bailey Wright is supposedly on over £10k a week at your place.

When we get a similar tv deal im sure we will all cut prices.....

Fair point, I can only assume it's to tie in with increasing transfer fees and wage bills, because I'm sure I never had to pay more than £30 for a game in the second tier, but it's three years since we were down there and admittedly I didn't go to many away games back then.

Our wage bill was the 4th smallest in the division last year (as in the year with Newcastle in the league), bigger only than Burton, Rotherham and Wigan I believe. Around the same level as Barnsley.

Similar amount this year, will stay the same till we get the new stadium up and running.

So yeah. Nowhere near on a par with you guys.

And the gap in revenue to that wage bill is predominantly made up through player sales, averaging about £5-10m profit per year over the past few years.

Not doubting you MB but....

Brentford
Company name:
Brentford FC Ltd
Owned by: Matthew Benham, a betting industry tycoon and owner of Danish side FC Midtjylland
Staff costs: £17.6m

Bristol City
Company name:
Bristol City Holdings
Owned by: Pula Sport, owned by billionaire and Hargreaves Lansdown co-founder Steve Lansdown
Staff costs: £17.4m

This was for 2016/17 though. It's not a criticism BTW, just a realistic expectation for the Millers. Ours has, with the much higher revenues, shot up to over £20M this year, still small fry in comparison to many in this division.

Wigan would have had a higher budget than us and the three you mention that season.

Had loads of old Championship/ Prem journeymen playing for them like Jaaskelainen, Warnock, Bruce, Obertan, Buxton, Gilks, Perkins. Powell from United won't be on peanuts, neither will Grigg.

With absolute ease I'd imagine. Our table position was probably a bit below our budget last season, will be interesting to see the accounts next year though.

I'm not so sure as the above suggests. Ours is probably higher now but it hasn't been previously. Very astute recruitment and financial management by the Bees I would suggest.
I was somewhat surprised to see those figures myself actually but was sure I had read them elsewhere.

You are right - I got them mixed up with Barnsley

You guys have a similar budget to us too
