What Tranmere need now is a couple of experienced League 2 pros to guide them through their first year back, so may I please recommend to them Paul Dixon and Sam Kelly, 2 of our absolute stand out performers so it would be a wrench to see them leave but I suppose we'd just have to get over it.........

Although I would have preferred Boreham Wood for the novelty factor, Tranmere Rovers aren’t a bad comprimise.

A fairly local game, and after the past couple of meetings between the two sides and the Ryan Lowe factor, there should be an elevated atmosphere at the games between us.

Not sure we’re ever going to top celebrating promotion on the Prenton Park pitch though. That must have been quite the kick in the teeth but you’re back now. Doesn’t feel like 3 years since that day!
I'm hoping that Bury stick around here for a couple of years, so that moment can be avenged. Your club posted a classy message on your website, asking fans to treat us with respect that day, instead the gloating/goading from fans on the pitch left a bitter taste at a difficult time.

We all know what a tosser Ryan Lowe is, done what he did to us elsewhere. His management career has been a bit dismal so far, possibly a sign as to how tight finances are in Bury that he's been kept on after failing to save you from the drop.

No but James Norwood must be possessed by Ian Muir the way he dragged us through the playoffs.

All joking aside that evening at Prenton Park is still fondly remembered by our fans, not just because we won but because of the incredibly sporting reaction of the Tranmere fans who ran onto the pitch towards the away section to swap scarves with the Swindon fans.

Fond memories, shame we’ll now be facing each other in this shit division!!

Think that's a very harsh assessment. I can be philosophical about the red card, given how the game turned out, but when you're down to ten men that early, it made sense to bring on a left-back and keep Jeff Hughes in midfield, where he'd ensure we kept hold of possession. Wasn't sure Ginnelly coming off was a good idea, but he may have still been feeling the effects of being hit on the head with the bottle and Jennings crossed for the winner. I felt BorehamWood were too negative and didn't make the most of their man advantage.

Think it's unlikely.

I don't think it's that harsh at all but you've got to bear in mind that I'm a U's fan, and back in the 2014 PO final we had to play the last 10 or so mins with 10 men as Dusty Miller couldn't carry on and we had already made all 3 subs. Needless to say, those 10 mins seemed like 30 mins so I just couldn't see Mellon's reasoning yesterday in making two subs only 30 mins into the game.

You're probably right about Hughes, but Ginnelly didn't look like he had to be subbed, but then again, and tbf, I'm not the club's doctor. I really feared for you lot when Sutton had to be subbed right before HT, and I thought at the time that all it took was one mistimed tackle and you'd be forced to play with 9 men.

Btw, I really didn't expect the BW fans to disgrace themselves like they did, and I hope they've identified the idiot/s responsible.

Well done on your promotion and good luck for next season.

Nice to see more northern clubs coming into the division, fuck the southern ones.

Good thing we're not a southern side then, though we're not northern either.

Would be great though if we got rid of that one Scottish side.........

Erm... hello? Are we allowed to post in this forum yet? I'm not sure how this 'upward trajectory' thing works...

Hello again.

Scary that, after just 3 years, I feel like I know literally nothing about the EFL anymore. I couldn't name most sides' managers, don't know who the good players are and I've literally never heard of Quest, but by God is it good to be back!

As for squad, etc, I may be a little harsher than most but if we really, truly want to compete at the right end next year, we'll probably only be able to keep 7 - 10 of the current squad. But that's for another day.

I'd settle for a boring, mid-table finish next year from which to build the following season.
There’s aren’t any ‘good’ players. That’s why we’re all in the basement. Is The Clipper still accepting away fans.

Yep, but the fan-run marquee in the car park is now a better option. Real ales and decent lagers, and a proper fans atmosphere. Away fan friendly too.

Thanks; not been to a game at Cambridge...yet

See where you're coming from and it transpires from the post-match interview that taking Ginnelly off was more of a tactical thing. Thankfully it worked out, though putting on Jennings who'd been hospitalised with a virus 2 weeks ago was a high-risk strategy.

This sort of attitude you have with regards to L2 is ridiculous, better hope it’s not the same throughout the club or you’ll always be here.

Surely whatever a fan’s opinion is it will have no affect on a club’s progress or lack thereof. Your perspective is formed by supporting a club which has progressed over the past couple of seasons. My perspective is skewed by 3 seasons of utter dross

We have not progressed much on the pitch since we rejoined the football league.

Mate we spent years in non-league, you don’t even understand what utter dross is.

It’s all relative. From being 90 minutes from the Championship to mediocre L2 football in 3 season’s is dross enough for me. I used to think that the 3 points were the be all and end all. Now I want to be entertained occasionally. Precious little of that in L2. I still go but it’s a bit like self flagellation

You're spoiled. You should try the National League for size.

GLad tranmere are back up, remember the last game with them which we won 1-0 which was pretty much a straight shoot out between the 2 of us to see who stopped up, something like 14 minutes injury time!

Good away trip and probably will be a weekend in lpool if lucky enough

Haha who was that against, my guess is Gateshead?

Gateshead and Barrow always travelled decently well considering their crowds.

When I say travel well, it was around 150

They brought 16 (sixteen) to us in 2016, and 20 (twenty) the following season.

Telford (12) was our lowest. Dread to think what it would have been had it been a midweek as opposed to a Saturday.

Barrow always brought 100+ here but not Gateshead, remember one game they brought either 13 or 17 here can’t remember which.
