Southend winning at Bury yesterday means that Burton Albion are promoted. Well done to them.

Can't believe you managed to get us to pay part of that blokes wages and come on loan here last season, you should of been paying us to play the bloke ffs

We really were at a proper low when we resorted to signing him as a loanee to score goals..

But then again, we weren't the fools who spent £1m on the bloke, so I feel satisfied

We were really shit when we signed him on loan and he still managed to look crap! £1M? :fl: :fl:

Come on guys, there's no need to bring up that price tag.

Totally worth every penny...

Glad James Collins will be back in League 1. Liked him a lot and was a shame Paolo didn't really appreciate him. Was disappointed when he went off to Scotland.

Well done, but can't say it's particularly thrilling.

Welcome Shrew crew. We would like to take this chance to thank you once again for Sir Thomas Bradshaw, some of league ones hottest property.

Good to be back. With the setup now we should do a bit better than 16th and 23rd and hopefully stay here for a while.

Very glad Shrewsbury are here. Shrewsbury away is always a good away day and were usually well supported at Salop.

Good to be back! A good few local games to look forward to now with the likes of Crewe (hopefully), Walsall, Port Vale and Burton.

You're welcome Saddlerrad. Fair play to the lad, it was certainly a move that suited all parties at the time. I think Bradshaw needed a move to kick start his career and glad it's worked out for him (even if it is at Walsall ;)) Even now I don't think I'd have him back ahead of our current options.

Glad your back too mate, love the away game with Shrewsbury, always a decent day and we take a good following. We have played well against you generally in recent years. You are basing that off the Bradshaw from Shrewsbury, which is absolutely fair, but who are your forward? Barnett? Not very good in league 1 based on previous performance. Collins? Good player, I like him, but he wasn't that great in league one last time. JLAA? Never been up to much at this level. I wouldn't say Bradshaw is a world beater, but he's scored 20 goals in 28 starts, been injured for half the season and still be player of the season bar O'Donnell. I must say, I think you would be silly not too want him back, but I get it completely.

Did I hear it right that Jackson used to play him on the wing?!? Lunacy, no wonder you went down under him.

Although I don't like Shrewsbury's ground I'm glad they've come up with Burton as both are fantastic away days.

Na Bradshaw wasn't played on the wing By Jackson. We've also got Mangan and Vernon as 5th choice. Mangan's probably got the best goals per minute ratio in the football league this season, he's just been nursing a knee injury for most of it.

With all due respect Mangan isn't a League One footballer at all. Bloody surprised how he's done well at you lot because when I've seen him play in the Conference he was like a fish out of water. Didn't Vernon last play at this level a decade ago as well?

Should we stay up I look forward to scrapping it out with Burton and Shrewsbury in our permanent residence in the lower reaches of League One yet again!

I can't see any of the clubs that come up challenging to highly up the league next season. Non have enough attacking quality for me which is so important in league 1. You can get promoted from league 2 by being organised, hard to beat and good defensively, but that doesn't seem to work in league 1. Defenders like Mark Ellis look strong at league 2 level but league 1 forwards seem that but more clever and tend to expose you. The best way seems to fight fire with fire and attack.

Shrewsbury will have a decent defence next year but like last time in League One I just think they won't score goals at all and I think an ageing Liam Lawrence anchoring their midfield will get found out against more competent players. Probably will do a Scunthorpe and stay up though. Burton I think this would be a step too far for them, Wycombe go up they'll go straight back down, Southend would be on a par with Shrewsbury, Stevenage are a strange one as they are a club always reliant on momentum, the only club I could see well and truly adapting to League One like Chesterfield have done so are Bury and even they might not go up yet. I'd say Plymouth but they have Kelvin Mellor in their defence!

Re Vernon, he's our 5th choice striker so will more than likely leave. Mangan has been superb this season, we signed him on the cheap and he's scored some incredible goals (check out his goal that was top 3 in the mitre goal of the season). He scored a superb goal in our win at Leciester and the equaliser against Chelsea. Bit of a fox in the box type.

Ellis is a class L2 player but his lack of pace and Long ball distribution will be caught out at L1, but again he's our 4th choice.

I think we'll do all right, last time we came up we finished 16th first season up after losing Neal, Sharps, SCS, Wroe and Collins which was the spine of our promotion side. This year we've lost 2 to injury already and coped fine, everyone is under contract and the squad on the whole is a lot stronger thanks to youngsters like Goldson, Woods, Gayle and Grandison. Biggest thing for us will be keeping the first 2 who have attracted a lot of interest from the premier league.

I think we'll finish 10th-16th, if things go amazing we'll do a Chesterfield and if things go bad we'll flirt with relegation but should have enough quality to stay up.

Re the teams coming up with us, Burton are an excellent 'team'. I'm really pleased for them as they're a proper football club who spend within their means and have some great fans. I think and hope they'll do well.

Southend or Bury should stay up, Bury are splashing the cash like there's no tomorrow and have a squad on 3 year contracts and a new pitch that cost 6 figures! Plus they've bought Carrington. Then who knows from the playoffs...

What's good in this league is you can have a Chesterfield or a Rochdale then you can have a Leyton Orient.

Incidentally, how are the fanbase at Shrewsbury now? I work with one and he was a right tit when I asked him about how he thought Shrewsbury were doing this season. He said last season put him off going and he won't go again until they can compete in League One! Are others holding the same opinion or was I talking to a bad egg?

Bad egg. We've probably got a few hundred who have stopped going from last year but have certainly gained a lot of new fans. Away fans this year have been terrible in numbers due to little/no local games. We've actually had more home fans than last year so numbers have held up well. Season ticket sales are very good for us too. Hopefully a few like your work colleague will return :p or not perhaps!
