Congratulations and welcome to both Burton and Shrewsbury.

Another 2 local games for us and 2 decent away days.

Any chance of them being a Saturday though and not the usual Tuesday night?

Bad egg. We've probably got a few hundred who have stopped going from last year but have certainly gained a lot of new fans. Away fans this year have been terrible in numbers due to little/no local games. We've actually had more home fans than last year so numbers have held up well. Season ticket sales are very good for us too. Hopefully a few like your work colleague will return :p or not perhaps!

Could understand apathy amongst your fanbase last season given how long it took you to get to the third tier and you never had a fair crack at it but thought he was melodramatic because I thought yourselves were the strongest of the four relegated sides and, as proven, you came straight back.

Just hope we do our bit on Sunday to ensure a very tasty looking League One next season.

Yeah I think the fans have a right to feel extremely hurt and let down following that season. Straight away though we made the conscious decision to change the club from top to bottom. The club now is unrecognisable to the club that got relegated.

Personally I thought we were the worst team last year, we got away with some good home results before Chrismas that masked a poor squad/team. We went down with 7 players and 3 of those left within month of Mellon arriving. Relegation was the best thing to happen to us!

I meant off the field when I said that. The players out of contract were a blessing. To think you had Shaun Miller up front last season! I'm very surprised Stevenage are where they are but Westley is a good manager to have at League Two level. Lots of uncertainty off the pitch at Carlisle with attendances declining and a Tranmere side who had lost their only source of goals in that Summer meant I thought you'd finish higher than the others, I didn't expect you to get Top 3 though I must say but kudos to you lot.

Thanks. Must say I could hardly sleep on saturday night at the prospect of another trip to Gillingham next season
The town of Shrewsbury is lovely, it's just a shame the football club decided their stadium wasn't going to be in it.

It's only a 40 minute walk from train station to the ground. By a very quick count I reckon there's about 25 pubs on the route, arrive at midday and you can sample the delights of some of salop's finest pubs ;)

Did the walk when we went, didn't help that there's very little in the way of signposts on the route! Probably took about an hour all told. Got the bus back!

Less than that if you take the shortcuts down the Severn, then that side street over the railway bridge, through the estate near the old bypass and then cross country!

We have our own fine Kentish ale thank you very much, none of that watered down northern nonsense from up there. :box:

Glad your back too mate, love the away game with Shrewsbury, always a decent day and we take a good following. We have played well against you generally in recent years. You are basing that off the Bradshaw from Shrewsbury, which is absolutely fair, but who are your forward? Barnett? Not very good in league 1 based on previous performance. Collins? Good player, I like him, but he wasn't that great in league one last time. JLAA? Never been up to much at this level. I wouldn't say Bradshaw is a world beater, but he's scored 20 goals in 28 starts, been injured for half the season and still be player of the season bar O'Donnell. I must say, I think you would be silly not too want him back, but I get it completely.

Did I hear it right that Jackson used to play him on the wing?!? Lunacy, no wonder you went down under him.

I quite like a trip to Walsall, but I'll enjoy it more I'm sure if we ever win there! I still can't believe we beat you in 2012 when Parry scored and you absolutely battered us. Weale was immense that day, and pretty much kept us up single handedly that season!

You're right, I'm basing that on Bradshaw at Shrewsbury. He looked small and lightweight, but having seen him at your place in the cup he's a bit stronger now. I think your style of play suits him more so than ours. I'm a fan of Sawyers, and think him and Bradshaw compliment each other. What Collins and JLAA offer is the tireless work ethic with a bit more of a presence. As you say, Mangan is unproven at this level, but has been our best finisher this season. Barnett can look lazy, but I'm convinced he like Bradshaw just needs the right club. Some of the goals he's scored this year have been pure quality.

Hopefully we give it a better go next season, and actually start the season with a squad of players.

It getting a bit more in the town as there's a lot of development in the area going on. No more local pubs as yet for you travelling fans unfortunately. Luckily for us, selling the prime piece of town centre land just before the recession when prices were at their peak and building (and owning) the "new" ground has set the club up financially for the immediate future. Not the same as bring in the town centre tho!

We will be the bookies, pundits and media favourites for relegation. Just like we were when we joined the league. I've learned over the last few years that they know bobbins about Burton Albion. I have no concerns about us coping in league 1 whatsoever.

Welcome Shrew crew. We would like to take this chance to thank you once again for Sir Thomas Bradshaw, some of league ones hottest property.

Good to see young Tom doing well, he always had the talent to do what he's done this season but in my view he was never really given a long enough run in the Town side to show it, too many short appearances off the bench for example.

The lad has a better than one goal per three starts record in League 1 over the last two seasons (1 in 2.5) yet I still frequently read comments from some of our fans who think we now have better strikers. :eye:

Of our current strikers only Collins has a track record in League 1. It's very difficult to say how the likes of Mangan, Akpa-Akpro, Barnett and Vernon may do next season but hopefully collectively they may get enough to make us competitive around mid-table/lower mid-table.

Mellon may need to show a ruthless streak this summer and move some, possibly Vernon and/or Akpa-Akpro, on in order to bring better players in.

Bury, Southend or Wycombe will be promoted tomorrow. Who do you prefer?

I really wanted Bury as it's local. Then I realised it was a bogey ground so sod them they can stay down.

We've compiled misery on Southend in recent years so I'd love to see them up.

Wycombe is a new ground for me too so wouldn't mind.

Basically just keep Westley in League Two and jobs a good'un.

(Reverse what I said if we go down on Sunday)

Nothing against Burton or Shrews, but two more northern clubs!! Please let the other two to come up be from Southend, Wycombe or Stevenage. This division is a nightmare for local away games......can't wait to get into the championship!

Sure Gillingham weren't moaning when this league was hilariously Southern and they were a part of it in 2009-10, swings and roundabouts like.

Exeter, Bristol Rovers, Yeovil, Swindon, Southampton, Brighton, Gillingham, Orient, Charlton, Wycombe, Brentford, Millwall, Southend, Colchester, Norwich, MK Dons were all in it back then, how times change!

Yes your right....I remember now, it was full of Northern monkeys moaning about a Southern bias! Swings and roundabouts our kid. Btw, your geography is pretty crap, Exeter, Bristol Rovers, Yeovil, Swine, Southampton, Norwich are not local derbies! North west to north east is a hell of a lot narrower than south east to south west. At least we'll have the Meelwool next season, although that's quite a trek.

Oh I know about the width of the country down South but let's be honest it's all Southern to us. My Geography ain't that bad, don't recall saying they were local derbies to Gillingham as well? Merely said they were Southern.

Absolutely.

I see you doing at least as well as Fleetwood have this season.

Relegation favourites next season for me are Blackpool.
