Is that strict wage cap still in place down here?

I'm guessing not considering the recent Ipswich spending.

It went back to the previous rules I think. With the age based squad limit chucked in, of which 21 years old is too young a limit.

I hope League One is five aside with rush goalkeepers, otherwise we might be in trouble!
We currently have twelve players in our squad for next season, although we have offered a contract to another four and are waiting to see if they fancy League One, so potentially we will have a few spare to loan you if we do play five a side.

Be interesting to see what we do with the away end! We swapped it in the play off semi final to give us the best stand for noise (current away end) so might be down the other end.

What a day Saturday has been. Spent the whole time in the pub watching sport.

The Conference semi Wrexham 4-5 Grimsby was one of the most exciting games I’ve watched for a while.

Qualification for Monaco Grand Prix was so-so. Disappointed that the Brits did not do better: -
5th Norris (McLaren), 6th Russell (Mercedes), 8th Hamilton (Mercedes).

League 2 play off: Fair result. Mansfield were more than holding their own until conceding 1st goal and thereafter lost it.
Next season Port Vale will not set the world alight but they should be safe from any relegation worries. Mansfield will be a bookies promotion favourite if not title winning favourite.

And then finally Liverpool v Real Madrid. My heart sunk when told that kick off had been delayed by 30 minutes because of problems concerning Liverpool fans. It seems that the organisation by the French was chaos but Liverpool do seem to regularly get the rough end of the stick.
And in the pub there was a flood in the upstairs WC that temporarily brought down the TV. More chaos.

Doncaster, Bradford, Salford will all be above Mansfield with the bookies. Maybe even Stockport too

Without a doubt. Under no illusions this is going to be all about a season of consolidation for us. Just at a glance the sheer spending power of some of the clubs in this division is way beyond what we could do (at least without putting us in financial difficulty) but have seen clubs like Accy do an amazing job up here so hopefully we can do similar.

Welcome to Port Vale, who always remind me of two things - the only place I've ever been spat (we won 1-0, an early Dany N'Guessan goal) and then we had a stinking game there in the snow where I think we conceded in the first minute via a back pass that skipped off the surface and were 3-0 down in about 20 minutes.

When I think of Lincoln the first thing that comes to mind is you sticking 10 past us at VP across two games in the league cup and league the season you went up. That 6-2 loss especially was about as humiliating as you could get not least as I think Lincoln were even taking it easy limiting it to that.

Didn't 5 of our 6 come from corners?!

Close, 4 of them were corners and then one from a long throw. This was at a point where Aspin was in charge sticking up to 5 CB’s on the pitch at a time.

They wanted to change the rules didn't they but all the bigger teams kicked up a fuss saying it would be unfair that they'd have to spend the same as "little old Accrington or Fleetwood" so the idea was scrapped?

They originally brought in the salary cap for the 20/21 season but abandoned it halfway through as think the PFA challenged it in court but obviously some of the wealthier clubs weren’t keen on it either. The squad limits one is still in place and reverted to the previous SCMP for L1 and L2 where you can’t spend more than a certain percentage of your turnover. The present rules are fine so long as they’re properly enforced.

As a dcfc fan I'm looking forward to the next season and the new clubs we will be playing... Good luck to everyone.
Tbf as a Leeds fan despite the clubs taking the piss out of us being down here I had a great time in league 1 for the 3 years we were here , some very good fans came to elland road and it was generally all friendly unless it was Millwall and a rival etc , Exeter fans are some of the best I remember

The present rules have to be adjusted for home grown players imo or the 21yo limit raised. Preferably homegrown players don't count as then it encourages developing your own players.

At present, talented homegrown 21 year olds are getting released as they take a squad place and stopping player development as they pretty much need to be 1st team ready by 18/19 to make their case. Players develop at different rates and under the present rules the likes of Sam Long would have been released yet he is a big part of our squad now as he only made his mark after that age.

Good point well made there Mr Ox.

Same could have been said about Jamie Vardy, or (dare I say?) our very own Ollie Watkins*
*Wonder whatever happened to him???
