Decided to catch up on some telly tonight.

Dispatches and Welcome to Wrexham. One highlights a series of sickening offences that left many with feelings of severe violation...and the other one is about Russell Brand this week!

Episode one of Welcome to Wrexham though was a bit meh. I think we've already got a frontrunner for biggest tit in that guy they keep focusing on who described the opening day of the season as "must win" and then said they need to replace Mark Howard.

Most other notable point is that Grimsby legend Aidan Davison is GK coach over there. Didn't realise that. Probably the second best keeper we've had in my time after Danny Coyne.

Weird that they included all the King Charles shit when that happened in December (if my Googling is correct). Probably intended to bring in some American viewing figures I'm guessing?

Watched all three episodes of the new series so far. Very mixed bag.

The monarchy stuff made me laugh. That'll sure wash with Wrexham fans. The majority of whom are very pro Wales and anti-monarchy. Simping for pasty ears was embarrassing.

That bloke that owns the Turf doesn't half chat some shite. Swear he claimed Wrexham take 5000 fans to away games in the third episode. Most National League grounds barely hold that!

Reynolds constantly panning the "How can you not root for a town that's been through so much?" line. Probably because most of our towns are in post-industrial depression and it may wash with Americans but not with us Brits? Towns like Wrexham are ten-a-penny in Britain but Yanks are too dense to realise this.

Some very lovely stuff in it though. Got a lot of respect for Paul Mullin having watched the second episode which centred around autism. Before the takeover, Wrexham did a lot for disadvantaged fans and to see them take that to another level deserves praise.

I do like it for the more human moments and the realities of being a lower league/non league footballer which is why I watch it. Just a shame we have to see Shaun Harvey and Callum MacFadzean at certain intervals on it. Shithouses.

The toadying up to the royals was cringeworthy viewing.

It's all a bit boring so far and chronologically the footage they are showing is all over the gaff.

They've laid the groundwork for the love-in with Notts County already with that taster episode today, rather like they did with Grimsby. Be a whole episode revolving around the home game with them I suspect.

I watched the first series, the selection of match highlights was all over the place. They’d be telling you it was a game against a certain team when it was actually against someone entirely different.

Entertainment is what is it (if you like that sort of thing), but if you’re expecting accuracy then look elsewhere.

I did enjoy the episode explaining what Wales is though, credit to them for that.

One thing that irks with football documentaries, Sunderland was the same, is that they'll show clip of the fans reacting to a goal or another incident that's obviously not from the same game. For example, they'll show Wrexham scoring at Maidenhead and it'll cut to a clip of the fans celebrating at Chesterfield.

The Sunderland doc was an absolute mess for that sort of thing, I felt the same as you do!

I agree with PuB. It's entertainment, and I enjoy it. They're well crafted stories. I enjoy the show. The only time I am annoyed by Wrexham is the way that every Athletic story about L2 is about Wrexham. Even if it's not about Wrexham, they cram them in there as clckbait.
I relation to the second episode, James McClean appeared on the late late show a night or two ago.

Already feels like a lot of filler and fluff. Same themes as the first series. How many series can they string out of it if it continues?

Opinions and all that, I thought that was the worst episode by a long shot! I'm not really as interested in Rob and Ryan trying to be funny, I'm not a massive fan of their comedy but I do really enjoy it when we see them with their guard down and dealing with the day to day stuff.
Think the Dorking doc on YouTube is the best football documentary I've watched
Still need to watch that, keep hearing good things.

Yep, they can do a series of that but much more and it will start to be formulaic. Still, nothing much went wrong at Wrexham last year so it's not an easy task making drama out of that. It's like your team's podcast, when you're winning games it's a bit boring just hearing everyone wax lyrical. It's not until people start whinging that it gets interesting. That's what I loved about the Sunderland ones. Those fans that are so invested getting their hopes up when you know what's coming.

I've seen a fair bit of the Dorking one. Agree it's by far the best. Can't help but admire what Marc White has done there and he's definitely his own man. He's entertaining but he's not putting on a front or anything.

I know Wayne, Cookie (the lad who questions Howard after our 3rd game of the season) and a couple of others. Wayne sometimes has his head up his own arse but means well for the club. Bit of a cock though in all honesty. Cookie is a united fan who has watched Wrexham on the odd occasion so a bit of a fairweather fan, but the doc makes it out hes a superfan.

Doc is all over the place in terms of timelines etc, but its a documentary, not a diary. I think the 1st ep is cringe but americans love the royal family stuff. 2nd ep is really good, Mullin showing everyone what we already know. Football always comes second compared to his family. We are well placed geographically for him and can't really see him leaving due to this.

Not really sure on the brown nosing to notts - we lost the battle on that night but we won the war. I'd take that every day of the week.

interesting, as I have seen Cookie at Wrexham games and on twitter about the club for the last 10 years plus or so? I don't know him personally but pretty sure he has been a regular for that time?

I agree with that point on the Athletic. I feel compelled to point out that I have nothing against Wrexham or their famous owners but get sick of media circuses following whichever lower league club are flavour of the month and making out that we should all root for them as if other clubs down here are just obstacles for the media's darlings to overcome. But Wrexham's fans do deserve a moment in the sun for how long they spent as the forgotten ex league club and their owners do seem to have the best interests of them at heart. Even AFC Wimbledon, as sympathetic and then uplifting as their story of getting back to the league was, you get bored of the bias from media types towards them during their first few seasons back.

Not Salford though. They can do one.

It’s no wonder their owners seem to like us so much, we basically saved season two for them. Would’ve been extremely dull if they’d won it by March.

Pleased they've steered well clear of Wrexham's resident pisshead, "Bootlegger".

His recent Under the Cosh interview is also great. I thought he looked a right cock when I first became aware of him, but now I'm a fan the sort of character that typifies things that are good about non league football.

Completely agree. Think he's a bit of a knob, but can't help but like him and want Dorking to do well

Won the battle, lost the war, won at Wembley in front of over 22,000 Notts fans and friends. I'd take that every day of the week.

Not seen it. Hope they got their money’s worth out of Billy Waters and his comical voices.

Winning it in Wrexham felt really special, being able to enjoy promotion in town with pretty much everyone from there joining in the celebrations, as well as the pitch invasion.

Where did your lot celebrate promotion? Wembley Park Nandos?

Maddest take I've seen in a while from the Notts fans. Whole season of this I reckon.

This is the kind of thing I've found entirely baffling from Wrexham fans since our paths first crossed last season. It's like you collectively can't cope with someone else also being happy/good.

It wasn't Wrexham fans spending the entire season engaging in ridiculous conspiracy theories about Wrexhams owners bribing match officials. That really got boring quickly.

We were continually told that our football was crap-just a rubbish boring route one team/We'd just bought the league anyway/Mullin cheats/teams just rolled over for us.

A lot of Notts fans weren't particularly gracious about us during the entire the promotion race. It's like you collectively can't cope with someone else also being happy/good.

No point asking Viking Magpie as he only started supporting Notts County again once they got promoted, he’s been a Forest fan for the last 5 years whilst County have been slumming it in non league.

Well it looks like rhe Onefootballforum's very own Scrappy doo is RATTLED.

Obviously you've got to take the word of fam who has spent two spells being #stained in non league. Grimsby fans are somewhat experts down there in NL.
