I'm shifting through those records I only bought because they were cheap when record stores all over the world started closing down or getting rid of their records to make way for cds. One such album is Springsteen's The Wild, The Innocent and the E Street Shuffle. Practically mint as I had only listened to it just the one time and didn't like it. But things have changed now so I can revisit those records I didn't enjoy the first time 'round.

I'll turn my attention to his debut album after I'm through with this. Such a shame I can't remember exactly the name of the record shops I got these heavily discounted records from. Removing the price stickers as soon as I'm through the door sure doesn't help. The only ones I'm pretty sure of are those handful of records I got from an Ibiza R.S. and that's only because I couldn't safely remove the price stickers at the time!

Yes but did you enjoy tonight or are you on a journey?

Tonight I'm going through old Seasick Steve EPs and mates' copied CDs from before he hit the big time - It may be the headphones and the Hoegaarden but I put him up there in the "Noises I Like" with Howling Wolf and BB King in the sound he gets out of a guitar and vocal.

Habbinalan my sincerest apologies as I mistakenly thought I had already replied to your question on whether I had enjoyed Springsteen's first two albums. Yes I did actually, much more than when I had first got them whenever that was. I had dismissed his earlier work completely, and the only relatively early record of his that I used to listen to sometimes was Darkness. But listening to Greetings and The Wild now has proven to be a bit of an eye opener, and that is that one's personal opinion on any particular record can change with time. I was well aware of this fact, but I can be rather hard headed sometimes
In this case, even though I didn't enjoy these couple of albums for a long time, I had always thought The Wild was the superior album but now I think the debut's the stronger album.

I've now turned my attention to A Perfect Circle's debut album Mer De Noms, as I fancy some familiar records right now. A side project of Tool's M.J.Keenan at the time but they're still going strong and plans are in the pipeline for a new record (all the Tool fans thought APC was just something to keep MJK busy and APC would only put out a couple of records at the most). Great album that I just can't get bored of.

Can't make up my mind on the subject matter of this one. Is MJK referring to a stripper, to heroin - apparently black madonna is a slang name for heroin in certain parts of the world, or to the (supposedly) romantic relationship between Jesus and Mary Magdelene?

A bottle of Malbec suggests something smooth (ish) and vinyl. The headphones are essential to get past the crap sound of the laptop.

I have the album in a crappy but playable state and it reminds me of ................... lots of things..........................................

.....and this was what the US thought we were doing - weird

Something from the bright side - I'm having a Nick Lowe/Dave Edmunds vinyl evening.

The vinyl is out again. Doors started the evening but moved (by circuitous routes) on to

Getting predictable.

I tried some contemporary offerings but was driven to the Saw Doctors and Johnny Winter to find something that hit the spot - even worse they were both Live albums.

Best offering seemed to be in praise of paedophilia

....which took me on a fantastic journey

and a few more offerings.................

Normaly, when I give up on TV and sit down with a glass, I reach for the vinyl. that's how the evening started but the following fit the mood better:

Whenever I listen to it, it creeps back into my top 10 favourite (not best) albums, them fades away coz I never hear it unless i dig it out myself.

When I cry up to the moon the heavens yell back to me
You shall bear all your follies 'till your days numbered be
And when I sit at a bar then time flies by
Even though the world is burning and blue is the sky

But in the city's noise the angels walk around
With wings in their eyes, peaking in
But in the city's noise the angels walk around
With wings in their eyes

I can read the city's fate in the streets' worn stones
Tread by forgotten feet that has left long ago
And gazing across the ocean my dreams flow in
Stabbing at my heart or kissing my mind's sins

Dreams flow in...
My dreams flow in...

But in the city's noise the angels walk around
With wings in their eyes, peaking in
But in the city's noise the angels walk around

With wings in their eyes

A Place To Bury Strangers. Decent enough band inspired by most of my fav artists like The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Cure, Joy Division and others. Normally this doesn't sit right with me, but I make an exception for this lot and a couple of others because they do admit they're deeply influenced by the aforementioned bands. is. A good number of other bands simply do not do so.
