Having one of those nostalgic revisit the old vinyl collection sessions that I have from time to time.

China Crisis, a very good band from the 1980s. Simple songs with lovely, layered melodies and some unusual arrangements.

From "Difficult Shapes and Passive Rhythms: Some people think it's fun to entertain"

From "Working with Fire and Steel: Possible Pop Songs Volume Two"

From "Flaunt the Imperfection"

I remember China Crisis well, not heard them for absolutely years, just listened to "Wishful Thinking" and "Christian", nice tunes.

The vinyl clean up has taken me to a place that could feature here or on the reggae thread but the fact is.....this is what I am listening to right now

Motörhead: Sympathy for the Devil

Stones Cover from their last ever album "Bad Magic" of 2015. Tbh I like this version more than the Original.
RIP, Lemmy. In a few days he's already 1 year dead. Legend!

Gotta like Lemmy and Motorhead, but they mullered this cover, much like the Guns 'n' Roses one did at the end of Interview With The Vampire.

I'm listening to this just now to start my mellowing down to get me in the mood for my drams later on! :D

Actually I am listening to one of the greatest albums of all times (at least for me). Jethro Tulls 1969er Masterpiece "Stand up". (Shows my age :D )

Exemplary here: We used to know

I am a big fan of Martin "Lancelot" Barre. One of the best on electric guitar for me, highly underestimated. Plus the bass guitar from Glenn Cornick. And then, of course, Ian Anderson. Could hear this all the day... I own all Tull Albums (in fact they are the only Band where I own all their albums (first on vinyl, then CD and now mp3. I've even bought some of the "not so good" ones of the later years. That's what you do when you are a "Tull addict" for nearly 45 years.

Bit over the top but Stand Up, on vinyl, was one of my favourite re-discoveries (had it on CD) in the back-malls of Nelson a couple of years ago, after a visit to Burnley v Chelsea on the way to Halifax embarassing Barrow AFC at The Shay.

In addition to my Tull collection, Wild Turkey and Mick Abrahams are regular plays after a few drinks.

Mick was equally distracted at his peak.

Emma Ruth Rundle's second solo album 'Marked for Death', third if you include the first one she did but that was more like a ltd ed ambient/experimental soundscapes thing. Another great little record which really stacks up very well against her previous effort (Some Heavy Ocean) which was simply amazing.

I've been in a shit mood for the last week or so, and whenever I'm feeling this way I always turn to some proper hardcore punk. The angrier the better.

Anyways, I recently discovered this Canadian HC band and I reckon they're simply brilliant. The exceptional technical drumming stands out, but it's not the only thing about this band.

Rediscovering Weezer. Preferably their stuff from the 90s but there's a few decent songs post-2000. They've generally stayed pretty close to their early sound as well.

They're just so likeable too, as they've never taken themselves too seriously.

Having an exciting morning washing the pots listening to an indie compilation and this came on:

But the intro I thought it was this:

My missus said the intro's are nothing alike but I disagree.
Opinions anyone?

Yeah,they're the same......

I've had a vinyl and Ringwood Brewery night. Dave Edmunds, Grace Slick, Johnny Winter and 10 Years After lead me to Orange Juice but I think you deserve this earlier offering.....

Today I had a bit of a retro-day.
Heard some of the songs and groups that made the so-called "Neue deutsche Welle (NDW) - New German wave". First, of course, our Darling Nena with 99 Luftballons (99 red balloons). I remember that when the song came out in 1982/1983 that I just started my 2 years military service. The whole regiment was in love of Nena ;)

and here is Nena, 33 years later in 2016, still a stunner, with the song in a french show (cute how the one french woman tried to speak out 99 Luftballons in German)

Having a London Grammar day

Just yesterday I heard their cover of Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game"

Beautiful (Song and Lead singer ;) ), very interesting voice. Here's the original song and video from 1989 (?). I still love it and I really envied Chris Isaak back then that he could make this video with (Super-)Model Helena Christensen from Denmark:

What a hottie she was...and still is: Just googled for an actual pic of her. She's now 48, still stunning:

I also played through another old favourite....not so much because of the music but because of the memories from when I lived in Holland...Twarres' Stream album. The music hasn't lasted well but it's a bit different, mainly sung in Frisian. They also didn't last although Mirjam Timmer went on to record solo under the name Mir. The opening track, The Deep Blue Sea, of the album Files from London is sung with Jim Kerr.

Just watched Radiohead's set at Glastonbury. I'm a big "Head" so I was obviously going to love it but I think that was special even for them.
