6-0 home defeat by Bristol Rovers in a league 1 game.First half we didn't play too bad and it was 0-0 at half time.A shit performance in the second half from the worst Reading side in my lifetime.Not far behind are the 6-1 stuffing we got from Birmingham this season and 6-0 defeat at Peterborough in the League Cup last season.3-0 defeat at home to Wimbledon on Boxing day 2003 was also a crap performance.

Also at Wembley in the 2013 Play off final given what was at stake.

We always lose to teams at the bottom - remember Stockport and the POSH beating us when they basically rooted to the bottom of the league.

That Brighton game you mentioned was the absolute worst for me give what was at stake. Zero shots on target says it all. I thought that in the 0-6 vs Cardiff we didnt actually play that badly, we just defended like clowns and they were super super clinical. The scoreline hurt though.

I remember going to Orient when they hammered Newcastle 6-1 in Pre-season but yes that is a bit of a shocker.

Bet not much was learnt from that game except a bit more training might be required for the players..

This season it would have to be the Sheffield United at home game (1-3 loss). Played dreadful, we got torn apart for the first and only time this season.

Wrapped up by match commentator Mark Johnson:"Humiliation for the U's, who were dumped unceremoniously out of the FA Trophy by a rampant Histon. United never got going against a home side who showed more fight and more passion throughout, and were perhaps unfortunate to only have Nathaniel Knight-Percival's 12th minute header to show for their first half efforts. A double change at the interval made no difference - United were abject after the break and the floodgates opened. Further goals from Knight-Percival, Neil Kennedy, Antonio Murray and a Mark Peters own goal sent the Stutes into dreamland and the U's into a slough of despond."

That was a hell of a December. Luckily I spent Xmas in Ethiopia and missed the rest of it.

There has been a few but there are 4 that really stick out in my mind as being horrendous.

02/03 - Lost 6-1 at home to Leeds, dismal performance and Mark Viduka handed out arses to us on a plate.

01/02- 2-0 home defeat to Blackburn on a freezing cold December afternoon, terrible game and against a not particularly great side but we looked nothing like a football team.

06/07 - Some terrible performances that season but the 2-0 defeat at Reading was a disgrace and could quite possibly be the worst I've ever seen. The away day itself though, strangely enough was one of the best. Was the afternoon most fans accepted we were going to go down so had a good drink and laugh until the early morning.

09/10 - Colchester away 3-0 defeat. Our first season in League One. Unbeaten before this game but the team just never showed up, horrible way to spend a Tuesday evening.

Would have to say losing to Cardiff 6-0 at home, only memorable part of the day was they gave out free programmes which then got turned into paper aeroplanes and attempts to see how many could reach the pitch from the top of the stand I was in.

The one that sticks out for me, for the sheer inexplicability of it all, was a 1-0 defeat to Walsall at Withdean circa 2008, when they played 70 minutes of the match with 9 (NINE) men. We had all 11 for the entire 90. They scored their goal AFTER the 2 sendings off. Our entire gameplan seem to consist of our left back Matt Richards lofting one harmless cross after the next into the arms of Clayton Ince. It was a depressing afternoon, and one that summed up Micky Adams' second spell at the club.

It didn't last the whole game but 4-0 down at home to Wolves at half time was the worst performance over 45 minutes I've ever witnessed. Thank God they took their foot off the pedal second half.

We've had some bad gubbings over the years but my 'worst performance' would have to be the play off final in Cardiff against Brighton a good few years ago. We had beaten them with ease home and away in the league programme and outnumbered their support 2 to 1 at least ( Cardiff is just up the road in all fairness) yet we just didn't turn up at all. Danny bloody Wilson left a very young but lethal (ie when he was good) Leroy Lita out of the squad and Brighton won 1-0 with a Leon Knight penalty. We were truly shite that day, really, really bad.
It's the closest I have ever been to walking away from football as it took most of the summer to recover from that abject performance. I shudder even remembering that day!

During which we lost to 1-0 Blyth Spartans in the FA Cup, and then lost 2-0 at home to relegation rivals Barnet to remain rooted in the League Two relegation zone, with comical goals conceded in both. Both were utterly horrendous games in their own right, and then taken in the wider context of the season and the fact they were back to back, just soul destroying.
