Whereas Boston got into the football league the hard way... by cheating.

Also Barrow's average attendance is about 300 more than Boston's

In fairness, I think that's a lot to do with Boston being average at that level for an awful long time and Barrow being top of the league.

Think the bottom two will stay as they are - Cheltenham don't have enough quality from what I've seen in person, Tranmere have had months to pull themselves away and can't do it - Adams will be sacked.

He's only on a short term contract until the end of the season so wouldn't have been here next year anyway. The sooner he fucks off the better, without doubt the worst manager we've ever had.

Down:
Cheltenham - Went there in the FA Cup last season and have no particularly desire to go back there, as smashing as the extremely hospitable Kemble Brewery Inn pub nearby Whaddon Road was. But they are a non-league club and they should be playing non-league football. Ergo, it's time to return home.
Hartlepool - Would have said Mansfield as they seem like a horrible, grimy club and geographically as I'm living in Leicester next season it would have been a close trip. So it will have to be Pool instead, just because Victoria Park looks like one of those real proper grounds. And it's near Scotland.

Up:
Barrow - Have loads of mates who support them, been dreaming as waiting to play them ever since we first made acquaintances with them.
Boston - Geographical and PROPERness reasons.
Bromley - Another club massively overspending but it at least gives us one 'local' game. And anything but Boreham bloody Wood.
Whitehawk - The play-off contenders in the conference south are all hell on earth and don't bare thinking about reacquainting with. Whitehawk are the most pointless bankrolled village team in existence, however, at least they have a cool, quirky ground and represent a decent day out on the sauce in Brighton.

Nah, we are a pretty alright club thanks. We'll have to remember a Dover fan doesn't like us :2thumb:

as a general supporter of non-league football I'd say down: Cheltenham and Hartlepool. Cheltenham back to their 'natural level' and all that, whilst Hartlepool have managed to avoid non-league for decades and maybe deserve a term down here, remember they hold the record for re-elections. If Tranmere came down I'd put them 2nd behind Luton as 'biggest club' to fall through the trap door.

Up: North - Barrow - far from tinpotters, traditional league club for many a year and a bigger non-league outfit. Dunno too much about the money aspect of things, but they would upset a few if they threw money at it as they have more chance of surviving a bubble bust than the likes of FGR or Eastleigh.
Chorley for the other spot - are they also in the money? seem to have had a quick rise over the last few years.

South - Bromley, just because they aren't Boreham Wood.
Playoffs - Basingstoke. Again don't know much about them, but they should be able to pull in 4 figure crowds at national level. They kinda look the least crap option. As an Essex boy the thought of Concord in this division is utterly hilarious, would easily be the smallest team ever at this level, they make Histon look like Man Utd.

Nightmare scenario next season for all the ex-league clubs would surely be AFC Fylde and $hitehawk up, Eastleigh and FGR staying down - could easily see those 4 teams among the top 5 next season, throw in Barrow and Bromley's cash as well and suddenly you'd fancy another ex-league club of recent years to join Stockport at step 5.

Good post, shed a lot of light for me on the contenders for the South!

As far as I'm aware Chorley aren't a money club. Things went right for them on the pitch around the same time it all went sour at Blackburn Rovers, so their crowds have grown from 300 - 1100/1200 and they just seem to be riding on that momentum

So, who had us as their choice to come down? Because if you were not at Prenton Park today, you cannot comprehend how badly we played in the second half - we will definitely be down here next year.
With that being said, what is likely to be a competitive budget next season in the Vanarama National League?

Might as well do this now as the teams that could go up/down are pretty limited now.

Cheltenham down from League 2 as they're fairly local and probably Tranmere over Hartlepool.

From the South, Bromley have won the title and the playoffs are one of Basingstoke/Whitehawk/Boreham Wood/Havant and Waterloovile. Basingstoke as they're only 20 minutes down the road and we'd take a decent following there and if not then Havant&W, can't even begin to comprehend the other two.

Barrow to win the North (National North :ffs:) as they're a decent sized club and fuck me if Fylde come up. Don't really mind out of Boston/Chorley/Guiseley.

Down: Tranmere please. We haven't played them properly in about a decade and I've always classed them as a bigger rival than Shrewsbury.
Cheltenham. It's not too far. Not difficult to get to. Never been there. Can't be doing with another North East team.

Up: Barrow. Just not Fylde. Grim place to go but it's better than the middle of nowhere. Proper club too.
Chorley. Don't think we've ever played these. Nice and local, I like the look of their ground. We'd bring a decent following I think.
Bromley. They're promoted anyway but I wanted them out of the current options. A new London ground.
Not bothered who comes up with them. They all look like your typical Southern part-time sides with awful away ends.

You definitely can't comprehend Boreham Wood then (rather than Concord who can't make it) :bg:

If we do stay down then I would want Borehamwood to join Bromley. Borehamwood is closer to Barnet & Underhill than the Hive, so the trip would actually be shorter than most for a home game!

Shame for Tranmere, decent club, although it's seems as though you'll be kept stable enough off the field.

Cheltenham are a non league club who have just come back to where they belong.

Unless you're bubbled in, which is how Cheshire's finest and the Heddlu like to do things nowadays. I would like to see them them try and convince Merseyside to do that, who are used to far bigger occasions.

I think you are right, there's no way I can see them going for that. It's costing your club money anyway - I'm 100% sure we'd sell out of whatever you, Wrexham and Southport give us, so why let the police dictate that? Also, I can't see the Palioses being too keen on the increased costs for basically little reason.
You may 'bubble' us on the away leg, but there's little to no chance of us doing that to you at Prenton Park.

I think it's more North Wales Police than Cheshire who are in favour of the bubble because of the old Anglo-Welsh factor. Although it's died down in recent years a few years ago it always used to kick off badly in Crewe between us and Vale and Cheshire and Staffordshire Police would never ever bubble that game. No way Chester-Tranmere would be a bubble game.

That's what I was thinking, us and Wrexham may be ok going to you but you might have a harder time of it because our two police forces will just crap themselves.

There is always problems when we play Wrexham, mainly because an element of their so called fans just find it impossible to go to a football match without kicking off (has anybody told them it`s 2015 and not 1975), certainly when they play us or so it seems, so a "bubble game" is pretty much guaranteed at their place. The game at Chester might be as well mainly because Chester`s tiny ground probably couldn`t cope with our away support. An all ticket game will probably not help as a lot of home tickets will find their way to the Wirral as they did last time the clubs met in the League at Sealand Road in 1990 leading to many hundreds of Tranmere fans virtually taking over the main stand and half the home end.
