I worry for Ipswich. It doesn't look like their team made up of L2 players can cut it at this level.

More than a match for a poor Derby side tonight. Both sides passed it around well, that's about it. Derby took their first goal well and the second was from a FK. Our problem is we seem to lack any kind of potency up front in these early games.

There is still little chance of us going down this season. Just can't see it; I've attended & enjoyed (in large spells) our performances against Blackburn, Rotherham and Derby.

We do need to start scoring, though. No doubt about it.

Ah. The perennial we're shitter than you but eventually win 3-0 post. Love this forum.

I stand corrected mm, QPR are even worse than we are, absolutely dreadful.
We didn't play particularly well last night but didn't need to. They're in for a long hard season with all possible respect to them.

Ah another one to believe the bias of the football media. Ipswich fans are arguably the most patient fans in the top 3/4 leagues, hence the very slow decline in average attendances despite mediocrity for over a decade. As well as just 14 managers since Alf Ramsey started in 1955.

We gave him time, appreciated what he did since he came in but it went on too long and the club let it go on that long. He wasn't sacked, we just didn't renew his contract.

Mick beat many unwanted records in the last two years, including Town's worst finish in the league for over 60 years and the longest time without a single home goal.

We gave him time, appreciated what he did since he came in but it went on too long and the club let it go on that long. He wasn't sacked, we just didn't renew his contract.

There's a reason he hasn't got a job yet...

Don't worry Ipswich, I'm sure we'll oblige you your first victory at Hillsborough on Saturday.

Irony is he'll probably come in to save you lot in Jan/Feb when LJ is sacked.
I hope so, he's twice the manager LJ will ever be and miles better than anything Ipswich Town will attract currently.

It really is funny how the footballing world appear to be so bitter to us because we let go of McCarthy. Quite amusing really! Usually nobody cares about us

This statement is frankly ridiculous.

Anyone who has seen the change in style this season will agree with that. We're playing attractive football for the first time in 6 years, and the fans are enjoying it again.

Outsiders who tend to say we were harsh or misjudged McCarthys talents are always speaking based on his past achievements. I'm pretty confident he will never get close to promotion with a Championship side again... the game has moved on and he simply has not.

In Hurst we have a manager who on paper has achieved similar feats to McCarthy, albeit in the lower leagues. However, there's little doubt of the 2 who will have more success in the next 5-10 years. It won't be Mick McCarthy.

Wouldn’t take any notice. There’s a few that would use anything to use their agenda against Johnson (and Bristol city in general)

I hope you carry on enjoying playing nice pretty football but gaining no results, as opposed to Mick's efficient shithouse football that never had you in trouble and got a dire squad into the top six.

If McCarthy had been given the amount of money that Johnson has here we'd be pushing top six consistently. I'd welcome him here if Johnson ever gets the sacked.

Enjoy the pretty football anyway.

You listen to talksport, watch sky sports, quest highlights. When they talk through the championship teams, every person that talks about Ipswich, Mick this Mick that. He’s gone, let it go

Joe Royle
Jim Magilton
Roy Keane
Paul Jewell
... Mick McCarthy
George Burley never really recovered after leaving Ipswich either.

Football is an entertainment business. /debate

Results will come, I'm not concerned. We certainly won't be setting the league on fire, but we'll be well clear of the mess at the bottom.

I think that's just lazy association rather than the footballing world holding a grudge for sacking McCarthy. Like if you were to ask me who is the Ipswich manager I couldn't tell you without looking it up - if I were a pundit I'd revert to Mick too because other than Gwion & Emyr I know nothing about Ipswich.

Hursty deserves better than Ipswich hopefully he will let his boys roll over on Saturday at his home ground.

Who would be better that you talk of? Genuinely curious as to where people put us at!

I know, Sheffield falls in the peak district....

I know, but you spoke about the city...
I'd be biased and say I'd rather live in Suffolk but then I'd much prefer the house prices up north!

That’s just arrogance from you. Pundits are paid to know these things.

Not after a row El Guapo but can't say I'm surprised to see you've been quiet after Brum's poor start. I'm sure you'll be frequenting the forum if/when your results pick up but when you rub people up the wrong way and they mention it you've not got a leg to stand on because it's happened loads of times.
