We're almost half way through the season, who has been your teams standout player so far this season?

Morris has grabbed the headlines for us with his goals and assists but our best player has been Stephen Dawson. He runs the show in most games and is pivotal to our success. We were so poor against Oxford without him and against Rochdale where he seemed half fit.

Nathan Smith gets the plaudits, Alex Jones has been class but Remie Streete has been outstanding this season and recovered from neglect under Page. Need to tie him up asap

Connor Ripley (premiership bound goalkeeper)

And peter clarke. The only outfield player at the club good enough to play at this level

Probably unfeasibly-lanky-but-lightweight centre forward turned remarkably-composed-wand-footed left.back Joe Bunney. There's about 16 others running him close, though, hence our lofty current league position...:-)

If only we had a 'best player'. The fact it's our keeper sums it up - the rest are a heap of shite, really. Can't score, can't defend.

Still, it's nearly January when we can sign some more misfits, cast-offs and general riff-raff - in Tim we rust.

Neil Etheridge has already made 100 saves, easily our best player, even if he does occasionally drop a clanger as well as preferring to head (and even chest) the ball instead of catching it. He'll be leaving in June though, as is the Walsall tradition of losing a key player on a free at the end of every season.

Then it's Erhun Oztumer and Amadou Bakayoko. One's a Turkish wizard and the others a real hot prospect who just can't stop scoring.

The rest have been crap (Kevin Toner), below average (the rest), half decent (Scott Laird) or injured (Florent Cuvelier).

Nicky Law or Romain Vincelot.

Nicky Law drives the team, without him we aren't one. I rated him in his first spell here 8-9 years ago, and the boy is still brilliant.

Romain Vincelot is just proper baller. Cool as fuck in everything he does from washing his beard to lobbing Steve Davies in his own final third. He came in as a defensive midfielder, due to injuries at the start of the campaign - and he's slotted in nicely at CB, keeping out a rather consistent Rory McArdle in recent years.

Honourable mentions to knight-Percival and Meredith. Meredith is, IMO, the best left-back in the league and Percy is consistently very good!

A lot of you seem to have misread the question as "who is the biggest bell end in your team?"

I think it's telling that Ricky Holmes has comfortably been our best player and he's been injured since the first round of the FA cup.

I'm not sure we have one. Tommy Lee has been completely blameless in our demise, as he hasn't played!

If I had to pick one, it'd be Dion Donohue, but I have no real argument as to why. I just think he has the makings of being a decent footballer.

Cody McDonald, but it's a hollow honour as most of our squad have been effing awful most of the time. Maybe Max Ehmer, but can't really pick a defender for a team that's only kept 2 clean sheets all season. I think Jake Hessenthaler has played pretty well after being dropped for weeks for literally no reason - he's probably the most consistent of the rest but he's a tidy player more than an exciting one.

What about JET?

Lazy bastard, but has scored some important goals. For that reason alone he might get a few votes for our best player, but he shouldn't be really. Been better the last few weeks since he moved to the right wing.

Nile Ranger is the obvious one but since Anthony Wordsworth had the op on his hamstring which apparently has been causing him grief for 3 years he has been absolutely class

Coasts through games. Takes an....ahem "interesting" penalty and can hit a beauty from distance but I've put in more of a shift this season and I have, for obvious reasons, not even made the match-day squad (yet).

Morison probably, carried us in a few games this season.

It's not even close, IMO. Everyone else has been a big disappointment, bar Fred and maybe Williams.

Has Romeo not been as impressive this season?
He has been OK. As have Thompson and O'Brien. It is very hard to criticise the youngsters as individuals, or in fact many of the players for their efforts. They have all been a victim of sub-par management to a greater or lesser extent. Apart from our attack, every other area of our team is in disarray and glaring deficiencies have not been addressed. Romeo would have been allowed to get forward more if we'd replaced Beevers adequately. Similarly, Thompson and Williams would be allowed more freedom to do what they do best if we had proper left and right sided midfielders and more depth in the middle. The fact that in Morison, Gregory and O'Brien we have three players who are guaranteed to get into double figures every season masks the fact that we frequently get overrun by most opposition midfields most weeks.

Either remie streete or nathan smith both young centre halves which you would find it hard to believe that there our best players when we have conceded 36goals and are shit away from home.

Chris Maguire without a doubt. He has been a joy to watch most games. Looking forward to a properly fit Robbie Hall as he has done pretty well so far after coming back from injury.
