James Vaughan needing surgery is a big blow
Absolute nightmare. With him, I think we would have gone up automatically. Without him, we might not make the top seven.

A big challenge for Hill in the coming games. If we just use Nugent as a like for like replacement, it won't work. We have got to find a Plan B.

We’ll make the play offs at least. Just think that as pitches keep improving it will really suit our style. Generally we hit a sticky patch mid winter and that’s been the same this season. For me Cheltenham and Bolton will be top 3 and we, along with another 7-8 teams could take the final autos spot.

We’ll have a couple of long-term injured players back fairly soon in Randall Williams and Sam Stubbs so they will definitely make us a stronger proposition. I’d love to think we could creep into the autos but we can’t afford to lost too many more games. Our goal difference could well be crucial too.

If it’s the play offs then who knows, we might just do it this year.

Think we have just played too many games to get into the autos. Take a play off place two weeks back nothings changed.
Going to be some patched up teams here on in. Big, big loss Vaughan at Tranmere thats a play off place at best for them.
We have got to beat Cambridge Tuesday to stay in contention and i fancy us doing just that

Probably a bit better than 'sink like a stone' Carlisle.
Do you think Vaughan fancies a move to Bolton next season as Tranmere are staying down.
The commute not to bad
Even get him a weekly saver on the bus

We most certainly do, but the are players in this league who can improve us.....James Vaughan is one of them

Which is a contradiction in itself.

Best squad in the league, but not the best players in the most crucial position on the pitch.

Why is that?????? Bayern Munich are possibly the best team in Europe but would Messi, De Bruyne and Ronaldo get in it

Our 11 may not be even the best 11 in the league, but its strength in depth i would say we have the best 22 in the league.

And possibly 3 players are the best in the league at there positions

We’ve got a really tough (on paper) run of fixtures coming up;

Bolton (a)
Oldham (h)
Forest Green (h)
Carlisle (a)
Morecambe (h)
Tranmere (a)
Exeter (h)
Newport (a)

In short, we’ve got all the top eight except Cheltenham and ourselves in an eight game run. If we come out of that lot still in the play off hunt it’ll be a hell of an effort.

Strange that you have this imperious squad, yet feel the need to improve it by signing our players.

Vaughan is under contract for next season, and I doubt he would sully himself.

You'll be in the playoff hunt surely. I mean the worst I can see happening over the next 8 games for you is that you have to settle for the playoffs but can't see you in a position where you have to fight to stay in them

Hope so.

We’re not in great form at the moment - we’ve won two of the last three 1-0 but needed two worldies to do it. Between those we lost to Scunthorpe 1-0 - we could easily have come out of the last four games without scoring (we also lost 1-0 to Cheltenham the game before these three).

We need some major improvement as two long range goals are papering over the cracks.

If we're in the playoff hunt after the next 8 games then Chris Beech deserves manager of the season.

Such a shame Mullin didn't go in the transfer window. What was his agent thinking?

If you win your games in hand, you go level on points with us. Have some faith - you will win games again and may even sneak the play offs.

We just don't look like we can win again this season. It's a morale thing, which is the worst bit. A team with poor players can grab a win through luck or pluck if they have good morale. A team with low morale though, just get stuck in this hole. At this point we would have to be handed a win somehow in order to break the curse.

Bit out of the loop with L2 but Harrogate good enough to sneak into the PO's? They had a solid start to the season, fell away quite badly and looked like they might get dragged into a relegation battle but have recovered well.

Salford don't seem to be able to string any results together and presumably should be doing better with their squad?

And what on earth has happened to Carlisle?! I know they slipped down because of lack of games but weren't they on a similar amount of points before Xmas?!

I was quite impressed with Harrogate in the two games at Prenton Park, but given their position and the fact they've played a game more than most teams above them, unlikely to break into the play-offs. At this stage, wouldn't rule out any team from Carlisle upwards.
