Oh and I think having a very good centre back is the single most important thing when going up, we gave away derek mountfield the first time promoted, an enormous mistake, played better sides and leaked goals for fun always trying to find that plug gap. The second time up our defenders just simply didn’t step up that level and we leaked goals.

The time we went up and pushed on we had Kevin Gray who was best defender in l2 in 2006 and he dominated most games in l1, meant even with losing our manager and our best player we still pushed on.

I feel a lack of a main centre back can be more damaging than other positions when going up a league

That’s one area where we should be ok with Moore-Taylor staying. Held our defence together for most of last season, I’m surprised we managed to get him to extend during the season as was sure there’d be interest from top league 1 or even Championship clubs this summer.
