Still think Liverpool's summer transfers will work out in the long run. Markovic, for example, could be a really good player in 2-3 years, and Divock Origi too. Moreno is also only 22. Manquillo is just a kid (remains to be seen whether they'll get him permanently). This season was always going to be hard given what came before (throwing away the title, losing Suarez). They are planning for the long term and it'll probably work out. I don't think missing out on the CL this season will be too damaging, if it happens.

this reminds me pags that was your lowest moment, not knowing the young ones, do you regret it every day ? :D

As someone who watched every episode of The Young Ones when it was originally on in the early 80s, and subsequently numerous times since, this post has me thoroughly confused. Although perhaps not as confused as you it would appear.

I love how Spear's trolling has gone from football related wind-ups to pretending someone doesn't remember a TV show

Take it from a Spear WUM expert of many years observation, even for him that was too random to be a windup. The poor bloke has me confused with someone else. Perhaps it's his age, bless him.

You're really going to have to cease with this belief you have that when someone says something foolish, it must be an attempt at a windup. I'll have to take your hand again at this rate and you know how much you loved it last time.

They were very cocky this time around, makes the victory even sweeter. Try not to be so arrogant next time, OK lads?

Even all their old players got involved: Dalglish, Rush, Aldridge and Mcmanaman ( predicted 3-0 ). I mentioned the other week that no other club is as insufferable as Liverpool when they're doing well, it's very satisfying to see them outplayed and their players reduced to thuggish behaviour and lumping the ball forward in desperation at the end.

Indeed you did, and numerous people pointed and laughed, given who you yourself support.

Yet I was vindicated by your players in the media being just as boisterous as well as their apologising for Gerrard.

I only really remember you and one or two saying both fans were twats. Can you show me this raucous laughter by floods of posters?

Both sets of fans are twats, or certainly elements of them. Which is the point. Neither you or any other United fan is in a position to talk about the fanbase of another team being bad winners, or at least without recognising your lot are just as bad.

Well if you're going to mention the players lost.... What about Giggs, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra, Wellbeck, Chicarito, Kagawa etc?

In order...

Nearly dead, finished, finished 3 or 4 years ago, finished 3 or 4 years ago, shite, shite, wasted at the club.

Rio was finished 3 or 4 years ago? Weird, he made the PFA Team of the Year 2 years ago.

It's not like me to exaggerate, is it?

You know what I mean though, he's spent more time battling injuries over the ast few years than he has playing at a good level. Superb when he was fit mind, even the last couple of years he was still class when he could manage it.

They were shadows of their former selves, but losing the likes of Rio, Evra and Vidic (three of our most important players and leaders in recent times) all in one transfer window was still a big loss.

I do recognise when ours are bad, but there's no concessions to make and tonnes of your ex players have even jumped on your own hype train.

And down to poor management.

Not that I hold it against you :D

Yup, Moyes was very naive not to sort out Vidic's contract. Although thankfully van Gaal has come in and we've got the 3rd best defensive record in the league.

Ok so when we predict a win we are cocky but when we predict a loss or a draw we don't have belief in the team - got it. The other day was a fluke but it happened, beat Arsenal (a big ask admittedly) and the pressure is back on Man Utd with their awful run of fixtures approaching.

It wasn't a fluke, United completely deserved to beat us. Van Gaal effectively out-managed Rodgers in terms of tactics, and at no point did United look in any massive trouble, even at 2-1.

The players let Rodgers and themselves down, not the other way around. Its still recoverable, but they have to go on another run and not be defeated in the remaining games to stand a chance of CL footy next season.

How much are you lot going to spend again on trying to compete with Chelsea/City next season then eh? £200 mill again is it? Falcao and Di Maria have really shone haven't they. At least Liverpool has built with a plan to develop their players over the long run, and they are just as competitive as you lot with all the bags of money you are throwing around like a gambler with an addiction ;)

Here come the moral victories. :bg1:

Liverpool have spent a lot more on winning less than probably any other club in the world, bar City, over the last two decades.

United can afford to spend their own money on whatever we want.

Putting aside the fact that that literally has nothing to do with the discussion...

How on Earth can you absolve the manager of blame after losing the biggest game of the season? Rodgers isn't solely to blame, but he must take flak for the fact that Van Gaal so simply neutralised Liverpool's system by matching the high-pressing game, with Rodgers having no plan b.

As well as that, his post-match comments on Gerrard were pathetic. I'm a huge fan of Rodgers, but instead of actually criticising Gerrard for a fucking stupid tackle, he literally blamed his team-mates.

Put simply, it was stunningly similar to the Chelsea game last season. We went into it on a long unbeaten run after a poor start to the season, at home to a top side who had endured criticism for much of the season so far. We subsequently crumbled. In both instances, Rodgers thought that he could just let the team 'ride the wave' of good form. Both times his naivety let him down.

people say this but we absolutely pummelled spurs the week before and have been playing well lately, where Liverpool won by yet another outrageous piece of luck at Swansea, where they were outplayed for long periods, we went into the game in the best form.

the loss we had ( Swansea ) was another outrageous deflection but as per any luck goes against us and always for Liverpool.

I put it to you that we are absolutely streets ahead of Liverpool.

I've never accused anyone of not having belief if they give a level-headed prediction, I'm not sure who you've got in mind here. You and G-Dragon (a friend of mine) were incredibly cocky before the match and it's funny to see you both with egg on your faces just as it must have been when United fans gave it the big one and came unstuck in the past. No double standards allowed mate :2thumb:

Utd are going to become the Liverpool of the Nineties, you just don't see it yet...

I haven't actually seen any of Rodgers interview postmatch so I can't yet comment on that mate. What Gerrard did was inexcusable and actually reeks of ego and frustration, and it could cost Liverpool the chance of top four. After that, I don't think he should play for them again, even in the FA Cup if there is a swansong for him in that competition. I'll check out the vids postmatch when I can stomach it! :D

I got a prediction wrong and I hold my hands up to it, I was confident with the way the team has been playing the last few months of a result and it never happened (though in hindsight, Liverpool didn't play great against Swansea either so perhaps it was coming). I'm sure this will give them all another kick up the arse and try again to push for the final place, but the backs are against the wall now, there is no more room for error I admit. :sur:
