Like Greenacres said, Ameobi was absolutely shocking, never seen a supposedly pro player fail to grasp even the basic concept of cushioning the ball when controlling it, always bounced a mile off him even in the warm up.

Going further back Jamie Moralee deserves a mention, terrible couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo. In an era of shite strikers he stood out, which took some doing. Now co-owns New Era Global Sports Management, who look after overseas investments on behalf of footballer clients and was Rio Ferdinand's adviser. Hopefully he's better at that the he was at football.

SAM PARKIN...2009 RELEGATION YEAR....4 FUCKING GOALS IN 25 FUCKING GAMES!!!
Super, super Sam, super Sammy Parkin,
Holds cult hero status here in Swindon. You got him after he had been out injured for a while and at the end of his career.
He is now one of the sports reporters on BBC Wiltshire Sound, covers our matches lol

Far, far too many to mention. The "Worst City XI" was incredibly hotly-contested on Vitals.

Take your pick out of our 14/15 team - I think only 2 or 3 players came out of that season with any credit whatsoever.

Lee Vaughan - Came with a decent reputation from Kiddy - seemed to just like running around like a headless chicken diving two footed into tackles
Craig Braham-Barrett - He was fast but that was it. Couldn't defend, couldn't attack. Will be cited by many others as our worst ever player
Matt Richards - High hopes were expected of him when he came from Shrewsbury. Meant to be a leader and decent on the ball - was just shocking, although he did score a couple of crackers.
Jason Taylor - Became known as pointy-shouty man. Did brilliantly elsewhere though.
Mathieu Manset - Fat, slow and completely unfit. Did literally nothing in a Cheltenham shirt.

The worst of all though, in my eyes - Kane Ferdinand - came on loan from Peterborough. Was so bad we tried to send him back but Posh wouldn't take him so we were lumbered with him taking up a wage.

We've had a lot of terrible players, but the worst of the worst might well be most of the strikers we signed in an attempt to replace Dean Ashton. For wildly different reasons, Pavol Suhaj, Juan Ugarte and Anthony Elding were all pretty goddamn awful.

Going back a few more years, Jamie Moralee was spectacularly terrible too.

Also Cedric Baseya. Came on loan from Southampton during Steve Holland's and looked every bit Ali Dia. Last seen in the Italian third tier 2 years ago according to Wiki.

We signed some absolute dross 04/05, firstly under Tim Harris and then Alan Lewer, who tried to replace some of the rubbish signed by Harris by more rubbish.

One particularly shite player was a young keeper we signed on loan from Plymouth, Kenny Schofield, who was forced into action in an FA Trophy game due to Lewer cleverly getting the legend Steve Perrin cup tied earlier that season having fallen out with him and loaned him out to Bath. When our other keeper got long term injured he was forced into putting Porks back in, but him being cup tied meant that Schofield played against Aylesbury, and seemed to think he was still playing for Plymouth, as he kept passng to players in green (Aylesbury). Needless to say they eventually punished us and we lost, and the lad never played at a decent level again.

Anybody signed by David Holdsworth, or the entire 2010-11 squad - with the exception of Alan Marriott.
They weren't the worst, believe it or not, but Tyrone Thompson and Adam Smith must have been ones. Richard Pacquette and Jefferson Louis too?

Manset had a really good spell at Hereford up front with Stuart Fleetwood (where's he nowadays?).

Having mentioned the 04/05 season of shiteness, I had a look back at the start we had with the squad Harris built, admittedly on limited funds. Doubt many teams will have ever started worse, our first 7 games were all defeats - 3-1, 1-4, 0-3, 4-0, 1-5, 2-0, and 4-0!! Think the majority of those players involved deserve a mention, but can't remember most of them, thank fuck.

And we actually somehow still stayed up that season (reprieved due to Northwich getting kicked out).

Fleetwood has signed for Merthyr Town having spent most of last year at Weymouth.
Never rated him when he played for us. Despite having a decent shot on him he just looked to lightweight for league football. He didnt have enough strength to run with the ball and not enough predatory instinct to be a Jamie Cureton-esque fox in the box.

Jefferson Louis is at Wealdstone now, on his 3671st club!
It's quite funny that a few of these worst ever players such as Baseya and Bossu played for us too but didn't get enough game time for us to make an impression.

Paddy Gamble. On loan from Forest circa 09-10 I believe. Quite simply the worst keeper in existence.

I liked big Ced but only because he was so hopeless it was strangely endearing. He managed to get himself a couple of good moves after leaving us - think he was permanently with both Lille and Reading although I'm not sure if he actually played for either of them.

We had him on loan from Reading!
I can't disagree with any of Beebot's suggestions. There are some other bad players from Simson's and Robson's managerial spells but they didn't play enough to make the list.
I do have to mention Eddie Newton who came to us at the start of 2000/01, having had his long career and FA Cup final goal with Chelsea. He just seemed to be awfully out of sync with the game going around him.

We signed Matt Heywood from Brentford after he won their player of the year award and I have never seen a player so slow in my entire life. He was given the captaincy at the start of the season and was stripped of it shortly after in favour of 18 year old Ryan Bennett. I'd erased him from my memory but I can only remember him being horrendous.

Chris Llewellyn, signed in the same year, also terrible. No goals and wouldn't surprise me if he got no assists either. Only thing I remember him doing was 2 footing someone.

Mulling over Barry Conlon a bit. Absolutely hated the guy but he did help keep us up when he was here on loan. Once he signed permanently he became the lazy piece of shit we all know and love but he did still manage a few goals. I'm not sure he was literally one of the worst ever but I'll always remember him that way.

We signed Jammal Shahin, who had barely played higher than Sunday league. After 5 games he was back there.

That 2 year period which led to us going down saw us field some truly atrocious players. We went through like 40 players a season and a chunk of them could easily be on the list of worst ever. These are the pick of the bunch for me.

Cameron Park - Loanee from Middlesbrough who was garbage. Now plays for Whitby Town.

Danny Haynes - Lazy idle tosser. Produced a woeful 45 minutes against Chesterfield and got sent back to Notts County at full time.

Chris Atkinson - By far Steve Davis' worst permanent signing. Out of his depth in League One. Loaned to Crawley in League Two. Injury prone, anonymous in games and wasn't the attack minded goalscoring midfielder he made out he was. He got released and signed for Salford in the Conference North. Some of our thick as pigshit fans thought he never got a chance and said we should've kept him, failing to realise the number of times he played for us due to how anonymous he was in games. Salford saw how shit he was months later and sent him down two more divisions to Farsley! An absolutely crap footballer who was a waste of a shirt.

I remember that game very well. It was against Morecambe and I think it was about the 75th minute when he got sent off with us 2-0 up. We ended up losing 3-2 with then scoring a worldy in the last minute to win it, sending the 23 Morecambe fans there wild!

Hang on. Ive remembered one. Patrick Kanyuka is definitely up there.

I think under Reg Holdsworth we signed 60-odd players in a season. It got to the point where you had no idea who would be playing on the Saturday.

TBF that wasn't at a professional level. Undoubtedly he was a decent conference level striker - he doesnt deserve to be in this thread even if he never tore up trees in L2.

Gomez Dali, Gary Simpson's Parisian muse - a player plucked from a team called 'Stockport Sports' and given the task of scoring goals to keep us out of regional football. So bad that, after getting sent off after 3 minutes in a C R U C I A L relegation battle away at Braintree, we went on to win 3-0 in one of the most ludicrous games of football ever played.

Jordan Slew.

Complete and utter rubbish who is supposedly a striker. I don't know how he has managed to get contracts at Plymouth and Chesterfield since he left us. What's even more unbelievable and terrifying is that someone spent £1 million on him!

I will never forget the times he'd somehow get the ball and then run away from the oppositions goal and refuse to give it to a teammate. When he played he reminded me of our non league days.

How he managed to score against us last season I'll never know!

Mark Flashman hands down. Comedy backup goalkeeper who was a clear beneficiary of the nepotism shown to him by his Chairman dad, Stan.

Have been a few not in the squad because of who their parents were, and of those Luke Medley always stands out. Wasn't happy that a tribunal set a fee of £7,500 when he moved to us from Bradford. Was even more unhappy when I realised that we were paying Bradford rather then the other way around.
Collins John has to be the winner in recent times. Managed to walk around the pitch for 15 minutes before being subbed. Never seen again except in a restaurant

Agreed with all of these but would like to add Andy Howarth. Saw him against Evesham in a preseason and thought he was useless, and he was. Believe he played one half of football or us. Then we released him I don't believe we announced it.

Where are all the Lincoln fans? Sounds like about 50 school kids cheering when you score but after reading a load of Lincoln fans bravado on social media i just presumed you always sold out away games?

Haha, that game against Rotherham.

I have never, ever, witnessed a centre half be so consistently late in jumping, trying to head a ball. For the whole game he was a second or so late for everything.

Who was that winger Reg (I think) brought in from Bournemouth? I think he played 45 minutes and then was never seen again, but should have been binned off after 10 minutes.

We've not even mentioned Luke Daley or Nialle Rodney yet. I daren't look too much into the last six years.

Four names just off the top of my head. Not sure how any became professional footballers.
David Chick was the first name that came to mind, quickly followed by Trevor Robinson, then a shiver ran down my spine and I wallowed in memories of the likes of Dancing Shaun Marshall and Jon "Challenger" Challinor to remind me that players lacking in talent can still have value.
