I wouldn't be surprised to see some of Still's groupies follow him down to the National Lge, eg Benson, Griffiths, possibly Green and Okounghae, maybe more.
That's a horrible image you're drawing there..

Well this thread is pretty much wrapped up now, can't remember a less contested relegation battle. I can sum it up in a single sentence.

Newport started out shit, and Yeovil were shit around Christmas but then they improved and Dagenham and York didn't.

I honestly think the two squads would struggle in the conference, they have both been diabolical. One of Dagenham's many issues were shown today they have no backbone, they can't grind results out they just bottle it.

We have 28 points with 4 games left. I can't quite comprehend that. How have we been that bad? Our squad is absolutely pathetic. A bunch of journeymen with no heart. Wayne Burnett slowly but surely ripped the heart out of this playing staff. John Still's job is now to restore that over the summer.

Bye all!

On the brightside there's some good posters in the NL section.

Sorry to hear Daggers have gone, although for selfish reasons I'm glad it's happened now well before our game.

Think Still will at least make you competitive again next year, with the right additions you could be up there. NL forum is a good place as Stags says, doesn't really soften the blow but yeah.

When you get past the horrible realisation of what's happened to your club, you can see the odd little benefits of non-league. Your team will win some matches, atmosphere around the club will improve, plenty of new, hungry players wearing the shirt.

Then other more unusual ones - new, unusual grounds and places to visit, great sets of away fans (both in terms of friendliness and fun), comical displays of defending (and not always from your own team!). It's a shame Kiddy aren't there as their catering alone could be worth the heartache of relegation...

The little odd things make it an experience - going to Chelmsford City away in the cup and seeing they have a sweet vendor, for example. With the increased parachute payments, you'll be better placed than any other relegated teams to find your feet and push back up.

The only bonus to this abysmal season is getting to watch nearly the entire gutless wasters in our squad out of a job come 4 games time. It'll be wonderful watching these feckless leeches slither away into obscurity.

Meikle went ages ago, McCombe got incredibly fat and played politics behind the scenes so got binned off.

Just to give you an idea of how shit we've been, if we don't make it to 30 points we'll be the first side since Doncaster in 1998 to drop without making it to 30 points.

Doncaster did have a chairman who was trying to destroy the club at the time though!

Isn't that next season?

EDIT - Vadaine Oliver will be ok in the Conference. I'd have him back here.

I thought they kicked in from now, but could be wrong.

Jake Hyde will also do very well, one of the top scorers, if he returns from injury without any problems.

He's shocking.

No wonder he hung round at Mansfield when we finished 21st last season and now at York.

Unless the gap between the league and the conference has grown that much.

Hyde and Oliver can both go, Oliver is a worthless waster and Hyde desperately needs a fresh start.

The gap is decent, as we all know. Particularly, generally speaking, for strikers.

Sad to see York down, always seem like a decent club and Bootham is a proper away day.

Agree with shoddycollins... I can't recall the last basement relegation battle where at least one of the places hasn't gone down to final day?

last season I believe both Tranmere and Cheltenham were relegated with a game to spare.

Nothing will beat it a few years ago when there were still about 7 sides involved on the final day. Absolutely crazy stuff - stayed up on goal difference that afternoon when in reality, we should really have dropped at the expense of Barnet.

My only memory of Dagneham is their first ever away win in the FL came at our place and then our last FL game for 5 years was at their place when it was a terrace. It was about 25 degrees and Jake Buxton knocked my pie out my hand in the warm up. Twat

Oh and Benning's screamer this season.

I will miss York, what a city. If there is any positive for Daggers fans to look at in going down it's that you've got both York and Torquay in the same league as you best season!

Benning's screamer was against us wasn't it? Or did he get another one even better?!

Benning played for us on loan last year, he was useless. Or maybe Wilcox just isn't a very good manager.

Hes probably the best left back in the league by a mile... oh well, best of luck getting out that league again
