Surely having been through the same with Oxford, you appreciate how sweet it is seing them slum it in semi professional football. I enjoy the derbies but im enjoying this so so so much more! I hope they never return to the league.
I agree to some extent, but when it eventually came to locking horns again the build up was fantastic.

The results not so much!

I'd love to see Blackpool in the Conference, i'd happily go a few years without the derby for that to happen.

Plenty of local trips should be feasible, even discounting those Premier League ever presents. Chuck in a seaside trips, London games and a couple of randoms & you're about there.

1. Derby
2. Mansfield
3. Notts County
4. Nottingham Forest
5. Sheffield Wed
6. Sheffield United
7. Rotherham
8. Doncaster
9. Barnsley
10. Leicester
11. Lincoln
12. York
13. Leeds
14. Stockport
15. Torquay
16. Blackpool
17. Fulham
18. QPR
19. Norwich
20. Grimsby
21. Birmingham
22. Macclesfield
23. Stoke City

I agree with this, so from henceforth this is the law.

As the crow flies it's not much more than thirty miles from here and the sort of place you can take over. Had a laugh going before even if we've seemingly lost each time.

We aren't getting into League 1 anytime soon but if we get into League 2 next year, we could have 16 teams within 2 hours drive

Nice to see so many of you miss us, or want to play us, but fuck off yeah, League One is well below our natural level.

So, City fans, would you prefer to play/not to play Rovers on a semi regular basis?

Seems a bit pointless having a city rival you never get to play.
Sums up our near neighbours then! There is no point in them existing but to hate us.

Anybodys list that doesn't include Oldham should be classed null and void.

League 1 without Oldham isn't league 1.

I don't understand people that would want an all northern or southern league. Obviously I'd prefer more northern/Midlands games than southern but the odd long haul away game is what its all about, no better feeling than winning at Southend on a Tuesday night (although if you lose, thongs don't get much worst) I'd certainly hate being in a regionalised league.

I wouldn't.

There's absolutely nothing positive to be said for us in playing the likes of Crewe or Scunthorpe or Oldham, and I'm certain most would say the same about playing the likes of us or Colchester. I'd much rather play some relatively local sides, save on expenses and have some decent away turnouts at Priestfield for a change.

I appreciate that a lot of fans like the set up the way it is, but I reckon regionalised lower divisions would provide at least moderate cost savings for cash-strapped clubs in terms of travel and accommodation and generate a few extra bums on seats in the ground.

Absolutely. It is difficult enough as it is, without playing in something that resembles the old Third Division North currently, and it will get worse next season.

I think the problem has just been exaggerated somewhat this season with it being such a northern/midland league.
I would hate a regionalised league as I enjoy a long away day ooop north.
Freezing weather, flat caps, even flatter beer, tripe and chips with gravy, what more could you want from an away day.
It would be nice to have a balance between local games and longer trips though.

I think everyone prefers to have more local than not, and I do feel for teams like the Gills this season, most home games I can imagine are flat as a pancake and its a pain travelling 2 hours plus every other weekend. But the local games are more for the match day experience (atmosphere, local rivalry ect) where as a good long journey is a full on day out (sometimes a weekend), that's the way I see it anyway.

I think if you took out trips to Scunthorpe, Fleetwood and Rochdale, and replaced them with Brentford, Southend and Millwall for example, then this league wouldn't look nearly as unappealing to us southerners. Pretty fine line, but I'm definitely in the 'no to regionalisation' camp.

A regionalised bottom 2 divisions would look something like this. Hmmm, good or bad? I'd quite enjoy playing in that southern division, not the least because we'd absolutely steamroller it even more than we are this league 1. :D

18 of those Southern ones could be in League Two next year, with the possibility of two more from the conference.

Its very much looking like a very Northern league 1, very southern league 2 next season. Feel sorry for the clubs stuck in the wrong league.
