Last time we played Macc with Coops in our ranks was in our EPIC FA Cup tie back in November 01. Remember it seemed to go on forever, latest I can remember a game finishing that I've been at (had school the next day) and being absolutely gutted at how unlucky we were and how close we got to our first ever league scalp. Macc had a young Rickie Lambert playing for them.

Note Coops putting in a typical no nonsense tackle early doors and then scoring one of his trademark cracking free kicks and soon after. Legend.

Yep cracking penna in extra time too! :brill:

The more Chester the merrier, thought you might have sold a few more advanced tickets tbh.

Neither of our Scouse neighbours playing, so my estimate a little low, but doubt we'll match last season's crowd.

The grounds a trek to be fair, not exactly worth the £2 you save on the ticket. Surprised we sold as many 800 on pre sales to be honest.

Your spot on cfc birkenhead has 7 railway stations and non of them are within a couple of miles from the ground, it costs me a fortune in bottles of scotch every few months to thank a mate for letting me park on his drive

He never normally missed those. Couldn't believe it.

You ended up knocking out Swansea next, who were bottom of the league at the time (we would have had a real chance) and then playing West Ham on TV, which made it even more gutting. Oh well.

Got Yorkshire lad Tom Nield as ref today so hopefully the Leeds connection might help us this time and we'll get a pen or two, the only other time we've had him he booked a load of our players and sent off Aarran Racine, so he owes us a decent performance.

Fairly light drizzle up here at the mo, given to clear this afternoon, apart from a little chill it should be decent conditions to tear FGR a new 'un.

Similar here in Lincoln, hoping both teams go for it and make it a good game.

Good job York are away today. The number of times they've called games off there on a wet day is scary!

1-0 FGR - Marsh-Brown

Just hope we don't get a repeat of last season, score after two minutes then concede four.

Hard to play against 12 men; looks like a handball in the build up to both goals (need replay) and strange decisions already from the ref.

Just hit the bar , doubt we'll get many more chances.

Cook celebrated in front of our fans too... no need for that and the ref took no action

Comfortably on top here, but Chester look tricky on the break. They just cannoned one against the underside of the bar... a mm or two lower and it would have been 2-1. Chester fans are booing the ref, I imagine for what they deemed a handball in the lead up to our second, but he's been letting their studs and leading elbows go unpunished so I don't think they should complain too loudly. I think they're trying to write off Jay Harris... he's been prostrate twice so far, and will be feeling this game for a few days!

Well deserved so far.

Got Braintree'd with a long throw for the goal but we should be at least level in this.

Goals came at a good time for Rovers after a spell when the visitors on top. Couldn't tell from my viewpoint if there was any merit in the handballs claim.

Red has been bad for us too, booked Harris because your players told him to, let the player who took Harris out with an elbow off with a yellow.

Way to go yet.

Yes, ref is awful...

Also taps in the bogs don't work. They go off as soon as your press them.
