Won't sniff at that point, especially after winning last week. Sounds like both teams had penalty shouts turned down but listened on the radio so no idea whether they were genuine or not.

Your one in the first half was an absolutely superb, clean sliding tackle from Adam Thompson. Kelman dived for our first one and Sotiriou looked like he fell over his own feet for the second, but I didn’t have a great angle on that one.

Both yellows for Tom James were fully-justified. Ref got all the big decisions right and was typically shite the rest of the time without favouring anyone.

Your right back (Warren?) had a good game marauding forward. Liked the look of him. Whitfield was good in the first 45 but faded. And Josh Gordon led the line really well; the press started with him and he’s very combative for a little fella. Well worth the point overall.

That should really help the Orient fans nerves as I reckon they are getting a bit twitchy now their buffer to the play offs is down to just the measly 15 points.

You’d think so, but no. Usual dickheads are starting to moan because we’re not winning every game. Not let in a goal at home for 3 months and they’re all pissing their pants because we’ve not scored many recently whilst half our side is out injured or suspended.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
Looked a good easy solid win for Carlisle but still think we have too many ‘bad days at the office’ to consider top 3. For all Newport never looked like scoring Realistically Newport could have avoided both goals, defensive mistake on first and bad goalkeeping on second, but Carlisle deserved the 3 points.

Just need to keep pushing on each game and hope for a progressive season then go for it if in the mix come April.

The big positive was return of Patrick, him staying fit and getting back to form is probably difference of Carlisle being top half to promotion challenger, he’s proven at this level as a hard player to defend against and goal scorer but he’s having one of them unlucky seasons.

But if fit and in form he can score 10 goals plus in half a season plus replace Gibson who I think k is better as an impact sub than starter.

Need to be patient this time relished him back earlier in season and lost
Him for whole first half of season.

I'm absolutely fucking fuming still. Trains in a complete state getting out of London as there's no direct ones to Swindon, so the WhatsApp groups are awash with madcap routes involving getting on trains to Bristol then changing at Reading or Didcot Parkway so what should have been an easy 55 minute direct journey becomes a 2 and a half hour ballache. Don't get time for a pint and you get to Swindon and it's so cold and windy such a shithole it feels like you're watching football in Cleethorpes or somewhere. At least the ground isn't far and at least we're there for kickoff though. Maybe the players can give us something to cheer about?

LOL.

I can't even be arsed to really go into the match. Just dire from us. We missed Luke Waterfall yesterday, absolutely no way Austin scores a free header in the box to make it 1-0. I don't know what the fuck Amos is playing at for the red, letting the ball run across him. He must have not known the Swindon player was there. If so why is nobody giving him a shout? That's the most basic thing a defender does for a fellow defender off the ball. Push out when the ball goes forward and shout man on...it's drilled into kids up and down the country as soon as you start playing football. And then we just collapse.

The support was absolutely fucking shite too. I walked away embarrassed to be a Town fan yesterday. Too many people just sat there passively. I think it's perhaps one the most I've ever tried to get chants going and they were just falling flat every time. Usually I don't have to attempt to start them but nobody else was bothering.

One of the worst away days I've ever had.

We’re getting sucked in but no one will have or has had a tougher run than us over a 2-3 month stretch. Just have to be 3rd by the time February comes. Mansfield, Barrow, Walsall to navigate before we start playing some dross.

You may have had a tough-ish run but we've only just started the second round of fixtures. so by the logic you must have most of these teams to play again and were only further ahead before the run because of easier teams in the first half in the season. We were 14th before the game yesterday aswell by the way.

I would defend ourselves here but don't have a leg to stand on here.
Rumour our end that we've got some interest in McAtee but Luton don't think they can end it this January due to conditions of the loan. Could be one to re-visit in the summer with Luton. How's he done in League Two?

Warren is one of those I've been a bit critical of, maybe harshly so at times. As good as he can be going forward as demonstrated yesterday and at Mansfield, he can often be walkabout on the defensive side. Only young though, so plenty of scope for development.

I thought we were the better side and should have won the game yesterday, similar to several recent matches, but our failings in the final third let us down again. Hopefully we can do something about that in the next couple of weeks.

It was a classic Manny Monthe performance. He looked solid and impressive one v one for most of the game, but then switched off and let Hemmings sneak around the back and ended up red carded.

Yeah I'd say there's no chance of that this season. We received a lower fee than we would have done so that we could have him back for the season and we agreed to have his shoulder surgery done on our time too, so if Luton want to cut that short then it'll get messy. Also I'm not sure why Luton would want him at Stockport over us anyway, seems like a non-starter to me. Perhaps next season, like you say. I could see the benefit of it then, but to up him and move him mid-season and probably have to pay us to do so makes no sense.

He's not been as good as last season but he's not played in his natural role because Ryan Taylor is out injured. Aside from 30 minutes on the opening day, when we were 2-0 down at Orient we haven't seen McAtee and Taylor in the same side at all this season. McAtee has been playing up top either in the middle of a three or in a two. He's been busy as he always is though, tenacious, aggressive, etc. He's looked frustrated with himself a lot though. He's missed chances he'd have buried last season. I think when we get a focal point for the attack in the team and he can drop can into the hole we'll see him kick on. Having said that, yesterday was easily his worst performance for us that I've seen.

Superb win today for STFC against a Grimsby side that played pretty well whilst the scores were level and also at 1-0 down. Did the sending off have a bearing on the result? I'm not so sure as 3 other sides in Div 4 had players sent off today and none of them shipped a further 4 goals. If we can keep Austin on the pitch for 65/70 minutes for the last 20 odd games then he's going to rip this league up. As long as we can continue to create then Charlie could still end up with 15 goals. Interesting week ahead with the possibility of a new manager, incomings and possibly some outgoings (It looks as if Louis Reed has gone). Need to make next week at Walsall count with our usual 1000 plus crowd behind us. COYR !
We were beyond woeful with 10 men but did you look at the minutes the other players were sent off? 60, 76 (conceded), 81, 90+4. With the stoppage for the ref, Amos was effectively sent off in the 25th minute. So not really a worthwhile comparison

Austin will get a goal a game if he stays fit

Credit where credit is due. Excellent save from Lewis here
Best keeper in the league, can’t remember him making a mistake yet and has saved 4 out of 6 penalties he’s faced. I’d be surprised if he’s with us next season. We had Alex Bass on loan last season who moved to Sunderland in the summer, Lewis is so far ahead of him it’s untrue. He’s performing better than Pickford did when we had him imo

Not sure who Crewe goalie was yesterday but he pulled off two absolute world class saves.

Impressed with Wimbledon's new gaff yesterday. Aside from the ticket machines at the turnstiles that barely worked, it was your typical new and shiny ground but still had a decent atmosphere going.

Yeah I liked that big stand to the right of the away end but I'd go beyond that and say it's not necessarily your typical new ground. On the inside perhaps yes, but on the outside it's quite unique looking even if that is because it looks like a massive shipping container but overall yeah I thought it was decent. They need to sort out the turnstiles and the food/booze in the away end though as they currently can't deal with a big following.

He had Hemmings under control for most of the game, but on that occasion Kane managed to wriggle past, should have just tracked him instead of pulling back. Some refs might have red-carded for that right on the edge of the box, the next man was the Walsall keeper. Didn’t see the incident for the first yellow, but apparently he manhandled Jake Burton; the AR was flagging furiously. A decent enough defender but get the impression not the smartest tool in the box.

Have played Orient, Salford and Swindon home and away and the 3 coming up will also be the return fixtures. And for the most part we’ve been performing well against the better sides it’s just we‘ve not played anyone else but the better sides for weeks.

Stockport took their first chance well, second was unfortunate. Thought Hippolyte played well for Stockport as did the keeper who made two fantastic saves to deny Hoskins. Thought we were very average, conceding too many goals in recent weeks and relying on Hoskins for goal threat. Yes we have lots out (after the injuries mid game our entire back line is out) but we just feel a lot easier to play against than Cobblers teams of recent years, need to be a bit nastier.

Hopefully some additions can be made soon, need a striker without question. Been roped back into the mix basically but im still confident in the squad and the manager particularly. Going through a tough spell but we will come out the other side.

Or sack the lot as some would say.

Been a shadow of the player he was last season sadly but for reasons that SOC has explained above.

First yellow according to Flynn was Jake Burton accidentally stepping on his foot so Manny pushed him and he went flying. Second one he should have just cleared into the stand with his right boot.

Haha, well I'm glad that at least someone gets some enjoyment from that misery. Over it now thankfully. I'll be at Crawley away a week on Tuesday for more of the same.
