We have Newport away - a team I've heard nothing about this summer. Hopefully they have a hard time of it tonight in the pointless cup while we have a week off.

Based on our performances at Exeter these past few seasons if we managed put 2 passes together I'd see it as a good result.

Won when we were really crap under Aspin but woeful in the cup tie which prompted Smurf to lose the plot, dire ref and wonder goal a couple of years back but poor last season although we lost half our team the game before!

Huge game hence resting 10 tonight, if we can win it would set a huge statement but will be very very tough and a point would be decent.

Not lost since January so in the right form but need to be on it defensively.

1-1 Cullen

After three home defeats in a week Bolton have a trip to Colchester, a ground they have a 100% losing record on.

Home to Mansfield. Six points for us last season (came back from 2-0 at half time at Field Mill in what was probably the first time everyone realised the Stags were very, very bad under Dumpster; then brushed them aside during our period of improvement just before lockdown). Can’t see our cloggers managing that this season, but we’ve started strongly in our own tepid way and I think we’ll manage a score draw.

We looked fitter and more organised than I expected at this point, but first games of the season are always hard to gauge. Tranmere didn’t bother to test our defence which is pretty much new and has been shaky in pre-season, and I expect Orient to have a better go than they did so let’s see how that holds up.

Be interesting if he changes anything, Maynard coming in is the obvious one because the only thing we did poorly in our opener was finishing.

Newport are known for being particularly violent, and the fans on here are known for aggressively and ironically disagreeing.

Be fair, mate. They do occasionally kick the ball up in the air rather than the opposition.

We have Crawley away. We've never won there and lost 4-1 and 3-1 there last season. Hopefully this time will be different, gotta play better than last week though.

Tranmere away - God knows what to expect. We still appear to be playing like it's pre-season.

Not expecting to get anything from Newport, more based on feeling rather than any knowledge of what they are like. Will more than likely tune in.

Another tough one for us with Vale at home. We decided against applying for the 1000 fans trial, which is a bit of a shame but understandable.

We had a friendly tonight vs Weymouth to give some squad players a chance to push for a start on Saturday. It ended 1-1 and probably only Nicky Law looked like someone who could force a change from Saturday’s team, so we will likely keep faith with the youngsters who did so well at Salford.

I think this may be a 1-1 draw but I am wary that Vale will be strong this season, so that wouldn’t be a bad result.

The casually thrown (and grammatically incorrect) deliberate falsehood of the poorest WUM that ever stalked these halls.

Me neither!

Would expect that with the recruitment of Wollery, we might be more adventurous than recent games as Vaughan doesn't function well as a lone striker. Talk of other arrivals hasn't resulted in any announcements yet. While Morecambe no longer look like pushovers, bit surprised they took all the points off Cheltenham. This one could go either way, draw most likely.

Bradford don't seem to like scoring which is always nice to see from the opposition. We are at home though, which is never good.

You and us both!

A good point at Mansfield hopefully followed up by 3 points here. We also haven’t had a game in the Cup to worry about this week unlike Cheltenham so that extra bit of rest and time to organise will hopefully put us in good stead.

We have Salford coming to Cleethorpes, like everyone else I hope we beat them, but we haven't really started yet, so no idea how we'll do.

If Salford play their best 11 tonight at Everton in the Cup it would help us, as I bet they are still not fully match fit like us.

We're hoping the extra minutes have been a blessing to some of our players who needed them (Matty Blair for example).

I'm a bit more confident after reading up on last night's game. We still need at least one new player though.

Think it'll go either way against Port Vale. 2-1 to either side.

One thing is certain though, a Bolton defeat.

You could furlough your entire back line and still keep a clean sheet on Saturday.

We aren't brilliant at home tbf, haven't won any sort of match at The New Lawn, including friendlies, since 29 Dec last year (scraped a lucky 1-0 v Macc) and have lost our last 6 in a row.

Be nice to win a home game in 2020 at some point, but doubt it will come here as Bradford will be keen to bounce back from their hammering yesterday and will be up for it. 0-0 would be a decent result.

The referee for the Rovers v Robins game is Carl Boyeson. History of poor performances in TRFC games and have to go back years to find the last time he was in the middle for a Rovers win.

Can't see anything but a defeat for us here. Standard 2-0 loss.

He's usually quite good for us as well if it's the guy I'm thinking of.

Standby for a Tranmere win now...

We've had three competitive games so far and lost them all! The thing is, we have not really looked as though we could get anything out of any of them either.

From what your fans say about your team I'm predicting an early season relegation dogfight which I hope we manage to scrape a win. To do so we would need to play two up top as none of our forwards are suited to the lone striker role. That leaves us light in midfield which means we could be starved of possession, which means...well you get the idea.

2-1 to the Reds....I hope.

Casey
