That's probably a fair assessment looking in from the outside, but I can assure you that our slowing down was more down to circumstance than resting on what we had. Our roster was large and we were being very selective in who we bought. Perhaps too selective, which may well have been the drawback of knowing exactly how good a buy each character was, as it meant that we were just looking for the best buys, rather than keeping our roster topped up. Plus, at the time where we were leading, our roster was getting fucking huge and reaching its limit anyway.

The only two great offers we got late on that were really worth considering were Superman (who got thrown away by Natch, in what I can confidently say was his only misstep of the entire game!) and then Sauron who we never really got to use properly as his power is used when he dies, which he didn't do until the end.

Dave just mentioning it reminds me to say, yeah, those fucking weapons! We got none, you guys got 4, and they're so useful. They're lesser versions of Gary/Ash, but unlike those guys they can't be killed and are hard to remove. I'd probably look to make them limited use in future...

We only had 4 weapons towards the end mind you. For most of the game, we had nothing until Gimli died 3 quarters of the way through and we got his axe. Then we got the Combat MG and Blades of Chaos etc right at the end pretty much.

It was NK who were a pain with weapons, plus they had Hagrid who could always boost his BR.

Again thanks to all who played. It's a massive thing to have to run and I have huge respect for Oaf for doing two of these. There is so much going on in the background and so much to remember that you don't see when you are playing. It's also a game in which demands a lot of time from yourself and that was fine at the start as I didn't really have anything to do apart from a couple of instances but as the game drew on I got busier at work (before I was using lulls to catch up on PMs and stuff) and also developed a social life out of somewhere and this meant some things got unfortunately rushed.

Overall it was enjoyable though and it was fascinating seeing how different teams approach things, especially when teams are trying to second guess what the other teams are doing. At times I found myself near screaming at teams because they were so close to doing something great or weren't doing something that seemed obvious.

Mr. Meeseeks was a character that really had endless possibilities but I thought teams would make a wish like 'win this bonus and kill the opponent' but TTT absolutely tried to find everything possible they could out of it. In hindsight there probably should have been some limits but it was great fun watching them try to eek out as much as possible, even if it was frustrating having to do it!

See, I nearly did that sort of thing with the genie of the lamp  Was going to make it 3 wishes and let people go nuts, but decided that it needed a few boundaries...

Also:

THIS X 1000. Me and Munkiki used to go absolutely nuts sometimes in our PM at these sort of thing. So much gets over looked while playing and it's hard to see it all unless you've got that birds eye view.

Congratulations to TTT. Massive thanks for running it Sutss.

Can't really add much to what's been said. When we had the Jaqan, Pokémon and Sagat thing going on was probably my favourite period of Wars ever. It felt really tactical and we had some great moves going on. Unfortunately that fell apart, and after that we struggled to rebuild our team. I was blessed with a great team and we all stepped up when others couldn't. I've not played with either before in games but would be more than happy to work with them again. You find yourself in some weird location's waiting for a deadline and setting up tactics.

In terms of not building when we were on top, I remember we were quite close to our limit. We probably should have built, but when you're in the lead it can make you even more unsure about over stretching yourself. I remember some great plays by other teams too and think everyone put in a good amount of effort.

Utterly gutted to throw away Superman. I didn't realise it was a death match, and I was in a rush so that's when mistakes happen.

Glad it's over for now, but really looking forward to the next one. I think as has been said the end game might need something a bit more, but I have no idea what.

Glad oaf got to play, and enjoy the game he created.

Yeah, I was nowhere near as on the ball with this as I’ve been for other games. Like Stagat said, it was a tactic that most teams had but we managed to forget on more than one occasion, our own faults though. We didn’t have much luck during our run though imo. Barely any moneymaker or item offers and we unfortunately had Booker on a high wage from the start. We also had that run where we couldn’t buy a win and that, coupled with a grouping of fines, was enough to finish us off.

Thought this was very well run (enough though I stopped paying attention to what I was reading after we went out). MLM were front runners for a large part of this, so massive credit to TTT, who were saved by Meeseeks and just got better and better. Easy to do well when you make spreadsheets though:dry:.

Hope to see another game in the near future! (Has anyone ever heard of the Haunted Woods?:ohn:)

^ Pushes us onto another point. Big thanks to SUTSS for being the one to take up the running of Wars after LR had to abandon his one due to other circumstances (Hope he's okay.) Brilliantly executed considering you ran it on your own, as others have said while also perhaps running it before you originally intended.

Echo that. I hope LR is ok. I don't think he's been online since he abandoned his original game.

Nah, he couldn't have been. Jinder Mahal has won the WWE championship since LR was last seen... if he'd been on here, even just the once, there's no way he wouldn't have commented on that.

But yeah, I do hope he's ok. Him and Munkiki, who's also not been seen since he left just before the end of the last Wars.

Fucking hell, everyone who isn't me who's ever been involved in running a Wars game has disappeared... don't even think about it SUTSS :o

Munkiki is fine, talk to him a little on Twitter. He doesn't seem keen on coming back on here though sadly.

Really hope LR and Ciderhead are ok.
