It would have been embarrassing for them to lose it from here so it's the kindest thing really.

I have to agree.

Happy they've decided to take our offer and shake on it. They'd have never lived this one down.

Well played TTT, just not quite good enough in the end.

Great sportsmanship lads. It's a pleasure to share the title between all 4 of us.
You're most welcome, all of you.

I think it's only right that we all come out of this as winners.

Mr Meeseeks takes the stage.

He starts rapping. The rap is so amazing that it can't be written down in human language very well. It contains reference to the fact that this was all the 'non-entity' MagpieBee's fan and is 305 words long. It makes all of the MLM characters dizzy and they lose all the fights this week.

Mr. Meeseeks then turns Barry Scott into a Creeper and he goes running toward MLM's base.

You've let us down

So we could request whatever we wanted the meeseeks to do and magpiebee came up with the idea that one should do a rap about our victories. We were looking forward to the rap.

MLM didn't actually bold anyone for the fights so no one dies.

There is only one territory in play for MLM, it would come out with the bonus so we're only get one fight this week.

Before Meeseeks departs he gives Barry Scott a Creeper like ability and he takes 1HP from every MLM member. It also kills Barry Scott.

As the fight is starting, Dave feverishly rubs the lamp. The genie pops out and Dave wishes to win the fight. On that anti-climax Wars was over.

Congratulations to Dave, LeeWilson and MagpieBee. The worthy winners of this edition of 1FF Wars!!!

Thank you all for playing. This is a game that rewards whole hearted participation and we got that from nearly everyone involved.

Long overdue mate :)

I was so determined to win this. I really didn't think we would at times but just when our chips were down, a few things fell into place for us. The biggest without a doubt was Mr Meeseeks. Without that buy, I think we'd have been dead ages ago. Then as we were struggling the Royal Rumble came around and gave us the finances to compete. Just as we were in a solid 3rd behind NK and MLM, The Genie came along and helped us to some very important bonus wins. From then on, we never looked back.

It wasn't all luck though. I have to give massive credit to Dave. He has a very aggressive buying strategy which scared me a bit but as I started to see the fruits of it, I got on board. Investing is definitely the way to win this game. You've got to keep the roster ticking over as fights alone don't win this, powers do. It's exactly why I lost the last Wars. I had the better roster but Stags had all the powers later on and decimated us. Dave's instinct was spot on and I have to say, he is the King of Forum Games for me, all joking aside. His dedication can't be questioned. He can't write a rap for shit though, MC Wilson had to step in there

Magpiebee was a very good 3rd team member. He wasn't as active as me or Dave but he would chip in at the right time with balanced advice and was often a good deciding vote on difficult decisions. Without him, I don't think we'd have won. He'll undervalue himself but he was a perfect team player in my eyes.

Well done to MLM and NK. I thought both of you put up a good fight. Ashame the game ended in a bit of an anti-climax. I felt the last Wars did the same. I may well run the next Wars in a years time or so and one thing I'll look at (alongside shaking up the character list a bit) will be ending on a big dramatic note rather than letting it drag on until there's just one team left standing and the runners up inevitably die. The other thing I wish was that Haddock's team had put up a bit more of a fight as it was a proper 4 team battle at some point. But still, these things happen. MLM, you should have won in truth, but I think your big downfall was you didn't reinvest. You had a big roster but just relied on Gary Oak/Mewtwo and a few others. You had a lot of people just sitting there when maybe they should have been thrown in and money used to replace them with new characters/powers to freshen it up. When we ganged up on you to get rid of Oak, Bison, Sagat etc, the rest of the roster was horribly exposed. Characters like Master Chief (with that ability drain), Cole McGrath (an instant win), Batman (stopping others entering fights) just kept us alive long enough to build.

And finally, Sutts. What a mammoth effort. Oaf is great but he'll be the first to say that Munkiki was a godsend. You somehow managed to do this single handed the whole way. I could tell about 3 quarters through that you were sick of the game and just wanted it over but I don't blame you there. It must be a huge commitment and pressure on many an evening. You did a cracking job though and there were some innovative ideas that kept the game fresh. If I end up running the next Wars, I hope you'll play. Definitely a Wars legend!

Thanks everybody. It's been immense.

This times a million. I can't even imagine how much of a grind this would have been for me to run if Munkiki hadn't come along, so the fact that you've done this entire thing on your own SUTSS is nothing short of staggering, and I doubt that anybody knows that more than myself! So many parts behind the scenes that most players don't see. And I remember that you've done this without even having the little excel thing that Munkiki made for me for character offers! It can be a grueling job but, and I'll bet that you're feeling this now, at the end it absolutely always feels worth it when you see how much people have enjoyed it.

If I saw the sheer number of hours I've put into Wars over the years I'm sure I'd drive myself insane (not just taking part in this one and running two before, but everything from thinking up the concept, creating the various systems to make it work, creating characters) so I absolutely cannot put into words how happy I am to have seen it run by somebody else, start to finish, and run this damn well. You've done the game proud and you've made all of those hours seem even more worth it.

Going onto the game, of course, congrats to TTT. Worthy winners, always looked strong and then got everything right when it mattered at the end. Played a damn good game.

As I said in the MLM chat, I feel that we probably screwed ourselves over by getting into such a strong position for such a long time. I don't think that a team has ever become an early/mid game favourite and actually gone on to win the game, they just get targeted and beaten down until they're eventually over taken right at the end, in a bit of a "blue shell" effect. I thought we bought well (yes, aided by the fact that one of us knew exactly who was worth buying and who was worth avoiding ) but we just fizzled out in the end... we got decimated by abilities, and then we started getting a lot of poor results even in fights we should have been winning just as the "wins = character offers" rule came into play, meaning that we weren't getting many character offers and the ones we did get were usually duds... then characters started dying as well and we were unable to replace them. Perhaps we got a bit too picky with characters, only really trying to go for the best, meaning that we didn't grow our roster.

Also, Spirederman and Techno Natch, you were both superb. We all know what I'm like for being able to get on at deadlines and you guys played a brilliant tactical and well thought out game. Couldn't have asked for better partners in my first playing experience.

Also on this topic of taking part, from a selfish perspective, I always fancied taking part in a game so that was awesome as well  And, having taken part, I've probably seen areas where I'd want to make a couple of changes... there are certain things you just don't notice unless you're actively taking part. I reckon I could really polish Wars up now. I'd probably regulate the prices of characters a hell of a lot more. They're all over the fucking place, which I had intended to kind of reflect, say, football in real life where prices don't always necessarily dictate quality, but just looking at it from this side, it just seems really fucked up. Also, some abilities that seemed useful when designing the game, as a player, are complete horse shit. Abilities where you need to have like ONE SPECIFIC other character to use them... there's no fucking chance of that happening. I'd probably rewrite abilities from the ground up. Just to be clear, this aren't criticisms of SUTSS, this is me criticizing my own bad decisions

So yeah, once again, thanks Spiredey and Natch, big thanks to SUTSS, and congrats to TEE TEE TEE.

Just to comment on the fact we didn't reinvest.

We wanted to, but often our mid-late game offers (until we stopped winning and getting them at all) were pretty damn shit as I'm sure SUTSS, Oaf and Natch will testify :)

That’s fair. I meant more during the stage you had Gary Oak/Bison and were dominating. You rested on your roster rather than going for the jugular imo

Thanks for running this SUTSS, brilliant effort and I especially enjoyed the idea of the draft at the beginning, not particularly the way the fights turned out in that though...

Great team to work with too. We had a period where MB was using a dodgy wifi signal on a bus in New Zealand with me in labour ward at the hospital and Lee probably playing tennis and joining in yet we were all around in the threads at deadlines and for the offers. The commitment was great.

There was also a moment early on in the team thread where MagpieBee came out with him having much to learn in the way of scheming in this as we were going over the opportunities in fights, who we will probably be against and what abilities might be used. Then we got sands of time and me and Lee had decided on a plan, MB was having none of it and came in changed how the game turned up by picking out meeseeks as a better opportunity. There was no doubting his scheming!

Pretty much everything went through with a majority vote and plenty of reasoning and we worked well. We thought we were out early on but through some good buys and Lee showing us how to write a bit of poetry we knew we were winning. 4 x weapons, a few decent abilities towards the end after getting rid of other big hitters and seeing all the excuses coming from other teams when they failed to meet the deadlines etc. It was a very evenly well run team effort with varying ideas which seemed to come together well. I'd have had us bankrupted in week 3 or 4 if I had my ways and would have used all the abilities up the week we bought them rather than wait for the opportunity if Lee and MB hadn't stepped in.

It was made hard by MLM. It always would be with Oaf knowing a lot of the abilities, techno always being active and involved as he was in the previous and always seemingly around at deadline to get in last minute too and two team loser Spirederman with all the excuses coming. Like Techno, ciderhead always seemed to be around at deadline to ruin any plans, him and Harv did well until they realised they had little left to fight for and gave up! Also thought Haddock, Stagat and Hodge were a bit unlucky, they looked in a strong position for a while then possibly opted for the sly late entrance to fights method and fucked it up.

Cheers again SUTSS.

Hahaha you're a twat.

This is probably the first Wars where I haven't had a meltdown or anything :p

Natch was undoubtedly our MVP though.

True, we were leaving entering until the last minute whenever we thought it might help keep other teams guessing but that was a tactic throughout and wasn't anything to do with why we crashed and burned. That was just that we all genuinely missed / forgot about the deadline that time.

Cheers again SUTSS.

Yes, this. Cheers for running it SUTSS.

That's probably a fair assessment looking in from the outside, but I can assure you that our slowing down was more down to circumstance than resting on what we had. Our roster was large and we were being very selective in who we bought. Perhaps too selective, which may well have been the drawback of knowing exactly how good a buy each character was, as it meant that we were just looking for the best buys, rather than keeping our roster topped up. Plus, at the time where we were leading, our roster was getting fucking huge and reaching its limit anyway.

The only two great offers we got late on that were really worth considering were Superman (who got thrown away by Natch, in what I can confidently say was his only misstep of the entire game!) and then Sauron who we never really got to use properly as his power is used when he dies, which he didn't do until the end.

4 x weapons

Dave just mentioning it reminds me to say, yeah, those fucking weapons! We got none, you guys got 4, and they're so useful. They're lesser versions of Gary/Ash, but unlike those guys they can't be killed and are hard to remove. I'd probably look to make them limited use in future...
