Would love a friendly v Gloucester or FGR that would be great if they came to Ladysmead or away at their place

Exeter, but that's because I prefer their style of play. They kept the ball very well last night, but Cox has us quite solid defensively as a unit. Neither side has cut through us at will to be honest, although I'd say Exeter did cause us more problems than your lot. Felt Adams has got you built solidly from the back and with the two big men upfront you will be a threat aswell.

Us Argyle fans actually feel that defensively we are very suspect. Yet yesterday we played another team in your league and dominated the attacked, just didn't turn up defensively for the first half an hour.

Beat Boston 3-1 in our final friendly. Amond with 2 goals and Pearson with the other.

Beat Crewe 3-2 with goals from Rooney, Hannah and Peers.

Enjoyed that, played some really decent stuff. The score flatters Crewe, friendly or not I fear for them after a showing like that.

Won 1-0 at St Albans through a Scott Rendell penalty. Scoreline flattered them. Bruno Andrade, ex-QPR having had loan spells at Aldershot (brief), Wycombe and Stevenage, was on trial and impressed - hopefully he signs.

Long trip for the lad. He was on trial for us against York on Monday night.

Yeah, read he'd just got off a flight to play so that makes sense. Exeter seemed to like him, and want a further look at him too.

Fair play to him.

Absolutely twatted Boston 3-1 to finish pre-season with 9 wins out of 9 excluding that 1 that we didn't win, but it's alright because no other Grimsby fans are including that one. Get the fuck in. If this was the real season we'd have 27 points by now, how much would you lot have? Not as much, I bet.

We might as well just give you the title now then.

We beat Stratford 3-0 in our final friendly with goals from Maxwell, Tunnicliffe and Reffell. I think with the additions of Snedker and Dawson this week we should be ready. The only trialist who featured was Rob Taylor, who has played in most of our friendlies, so I expect we'll be signing him this week and that will probably be it for us, unless we can get any freebie loans off the local big clubs, or get rid of someone.

Drew 1-1 with Wycombe. First half was impressive. Shaun Harrad was trialling again - I wouldn't offer him anything though.

You played quite well to be fair, your keeper was particularly impressive. He kept you in it in the first half but you were much better in the 2nd half and we were pretty awful.

Eastleigh lost 2-0 at home. Game was over in terms of the result inside 15 minutes.

They will need to improve significantly if league football is their target.

Definitely our most encouraging display in preseason, beating York City 2–0. Plenty of ideas, service and played at good pace. Getting some signs that this season will be a bit more entertaining.

I'm expecting Grimsby to run away with the league, and end up with at least a 15 point margin over the second placed team. Anything less would be considered a failure, IMO.

So, in effect, the other 23 sides are in for a largely meaningless season. Some will preoccupy themselves with staying up, and some will only have the play-offs to look forward to.

I don't want to get ahead of myself but I reckon we'll be at the right end of the table this season.
Our signings have been solid; Smith has brought in a lot of youngsters, either players that couldn't break through at top-level clubs or from the lower leagues.
Got a feeling our main issues will be goals, and we'll really miss Williams as I can't see MBH or either of the Walker's (Dan/Charlie) getting into the 20's.
I think we'll get a good idea come the end of August as our first seven fixtures have a bit of everything - games we should win (Gateshead and Dover at home), difficult away games (Cheltenham, Wrexham), winnable away games (Guiseley, Braintree) and against the VISION.

Shocking on and off the pitch for us today. A abject 1-0 defeat against Coalville in a bad tempered affair both on and off the pitch. Without a doubt both sides would have been reduced to 9 in a competitive game. I think the word friendly got lost somewhere today.

Gonna forget the match today but I visited the site of the old Palitoy factory in Coalville where the original star wars figures were made which I am sure you can gather from my username I am a big fan of so that was a massive positive for me.

Beat Congleton 7-1, but looks like we've lost summer signing Curtis Haynes-Brown for the season with a ruptured Achilles. Mint.

Feel for you, must be gut-wrenching. Was he looking like a decent player?

Lost 1-4 to Shrewsbury. The score didn't reflect the game - we played well for large parts and their keeper made 2 outstanding saves. We gifted them 2 goals through a GK error and a slip at the back. In the balance of play we looked like we were matching them. Brabin started trying weird things by the end, including Lois Maynard at RB.

Not taking too much from this so far. We've won 4 and lost 4 in pre-season. Haven't a clue what to expect next week. I'd take a 1-0 now.

Also, Courtney Cameron and Mekki played. This time it was Mekki who stole the show. I'd sign both.

Final Pre-season friendly for Aldershot Town finished 1-1 at the EBB stadium against Wycombe Wanderers.
Very even game, fair result and some attractive football was played by the home team for the first time in a while!

Is that Adam Mekki? If so good to see him impressing, i was disappointed when he left us.
