I wonder if the Staines Town Band is still a thing.

Drew 2-2 down at Swansea against their U21 side. Connor Jennings and youngster Danny Reynolds with our goals.

Like Everton U21s Swansea play good football which fit the continued football reduction Mills is putting the players through.

I'm sure I'm not the only one - what is a 'football reduction'?

Simplifying football down into its purist form. Keep the ball on the floor, pass and score.

Or he meant to say football induction or something.

It's purist form isn't necessarily the simplest form though. The simplest form is score 1 more than the opponent, regardless of how you do it - foot, head, arse, OG.

My phone decided to change 'football education' to 'football reduction' but I like it.

Like a red wine reduction. Delicious and rich.

Under Mills instead of keep the ball on the floor it should read keep yourselves on the floor, for as long as possible, to get free kicks and opposition players sent off......

We welcome FC Halifax Town to EP tomorrow for our first home friendly of pre-season. Safe trip for any Shaymen making the journey.
It will be the first chance to get a look at new signing Kayode Odejayi in County cololurs and hopefully Sean O'Hanlon too if he has managed to shake off his injury.

We stay within the City boundary tonight to play local side Lincoln United. Pissed off to be working but hoping the 11 new players and trialists gel ok. Sounds like Harrad will feature for maybe half a game. Plenty of ties between us and them over the years with lots of ex Imps turning out for United, hoping for a decent performance, comfortable victory (egg on face) and no injuries!

Always seems to be one injury there. Two seasons ago it was Todd Jordan I think who was then out for 3 or 4 months.

Currently 2-0 up. Waterfall and Harrad's just scored 4 minutes into his 'debut'.

We were 4/6 to win tonight, so I had a bit of that.

Drew 1-1 against Birmingham today

We has Rob Taylor (ex Tranmere) playing at left back and he didn't impress at all Adam Dawson (ex Bristol Rovers) who scored our goal and looked really good all game. I would like to sign him up. We also had Dean Snedeker in goal who played very well.

A 0-0 draw at home to Halifax this afternoon.

Going off the reports we were the much better side but failed to get that crucial goal to win it, I hope that isn't the story of our season.

3-2 defeat for us today against Staines at Wheatsheaf Park. Goals from Alex Smith and Chris Arthur.

Trialists that featured:

Jordan Brown (Ex Borehamwood LB?)
Lionel Stone (Ex-Brentford Development, short-term loan last year but didn't really feature)
Dan Sweeney (Ex K's?)
Evans Kouassi (Ex-Chelmsford)
Andre Johnson (Ex Derby youth?)
Alex Smith (Ex yeovil)
Kazeem (no idea!)

Exciting to hear that Brian Saah and Charles Banya were in the squad, would almost complete our team if they came in. Anyone know anything about the players above?

Jason Walker had a penalty well saved, then Pilkington scored with a 25 yard free kick

Halifax were pretty ordinary today, offered nothing upfront and that's probably because Jordan Burrow was up there.

We were good in the first half, we don't hoof it anymore and play from the back, Bell Baggie looks far too good for this league, Rule was brilliant, Odejayi bullied their defenders and our defence looked solid. I know it's only a friendly but there's good signs there.

Brimscombe & Thrupp 1-0 FGR.

We gave virtually our whole squad half a game each, good workout overall. Result not important.

Nice set-up at Brimscombe.

Alex Smith scored a great goal as did Chris Arthur from about 25/30 yards. Would like another look at Smith and Andre Johnson, the rest can go. Good to see Saah back with the squad albeit he wasn't overly impressive today. Banya showed some nice touches and should have scored twice, his finishing lets him down more often than not.

Ismail Yakuza looks very solid, won loads of headers. Godfrey Poku was busy in midfield and Jake Caprice was impressive on the ball, particularly going forward - he is pretty quick. Looking forward to Tuesday vs Oxford at Kingfield. Both teams will put out strong sides to start, I'm sure, mixed with a few trialists in what should be a better test.
