Another one announced for us away at Gainsborough Trinity, 30th July. Guessing it will be a mixture of development squad and fringe players.

Benfica friendly cancelled, they're off to the US for a tour. Wonder who the "curtain raiser" will be now, probably Sunderland or some other PL giant. :err:

Reading v Swansea also announced. I think since they beat us in the playoffs we've played them in 4 of the last 5 pre-seasons...

Though strangely this time we're playing at Adams Park (Wycombe)

Police have shit themselves over the Rangers game, so it looks like we will be getting Everton at Elland Road instead. Meh.

Our usual Buckingham/Newport Pagnell double header where we will split the team has been announced today, but more excitingly we have barnet away, 2 years ago that was good as we opened The Hive and won 4-1, looking forward to that

Buckingham and Newport Pagnell - 18th July
Barnet - 25th July

Did adkins take you abroad last year?

Nope.Played a couple of friendlys down in the west country. We couldnt afford to go abroad last season with the ownership problems we had. That didnt help him during his time here.

The football we played under him in most parts was as dull as i have seen us play since the late 90s and some of the most inept Reading performances i can remember. He talked utter crap most of the time especially after games we lost.

That said he did a good job at Southampton and Scunthorpe.

Yea, you hate his after game interviews when you're not following his team, you hate them even more when he's managing your team.

In his last game, we had just lost 6-1 to Birmingham and he came out and said that at least we had more possession.

Though his time at Reading was full of false promises from owners, so as bad as he was, he got no help.

That is what i like about Steve Clarke. After the game when he talks to BBC Berkshire he tells it like it is and if we have played badly he says we have where as Adkins always put a positive spin on everything.

This is what he said after that Birmingham game.Bad goals cost us with poor defensive errors, still we had the lions share of possession and had some good chances with the ball today, we will take the positives and move on to Watford.

The only positive that day was that it was only 6-1 Birmingham.

That being said.If he is given some money to spend at Sheffield United he will get them promoted.

Was expecting the usual dull affair this pre-season but the club have done quite well this year.

We obviously have the all too predictable trip to Belgium but also have two home games against West Ham and Chievo.

Yeah, think it's the day after the Ashington game, so it will be a split squad most likely.

We're also playing Bury away in our final pre-season fixture.

Rumours of Hearts and Real Sociedad at Deepdale.
