We've postponed our game tonight. Something about another cup game we've got on Friday.

if chelsea u21 are eliminated this week then it becomes a Proper Tournament.

You couldn't be more wrong.

I hope Lincoln fans are happy when they're having to watch their side play b teams every other week or so.

No point trying to reason with them Chris they just don't get it, thankfully it seems most of the other 47 teams in it do get it, and actually understand what the word boycott means.

Well maybe 46, Peterborough can go fuck off too.

Ours sounds like a great game - 1-1 at the minute, end-to-end stuff and plenty of goalmouth action. Oh, and around 7000 there to watch it, including around 1000 from Posh.

Posh go 2-1 up through our former player Danny Lloyd, before The Big Man©®™ levels for the Imps.

6663 in total, of which 1028 Posh.

Late goals from Harry Anderson and Matt Green see us through to the Semi Finals, 4-2. Chelsea U23, Shrews and one of Yeovil or Fleetwood in the next round.

Odds on a Lincoln-Chelsea final? Bit weird with 25,000 Lincoln and 3 Chelsea fans.

Well done Lincoln. Clearly your cup final, you may as well forget the league

We showed last year we can manage Cup and League at the same time. In fact, we also got to the Trophy semis, so were on for the treble until the 11th of March.

That sounds like another ding-dong of a game in this competition.

The state of that midfield at the end, though. Neil Eardley in CM, Cowley took Rowe and Freck off, no Woodyard who was suspended, took Rhead off, Bostwick still at CB.

We looked so much weaker when we made the subs. No real recognised midfielders as Whitehouse is usually on from the bench. We deserved the win over the 90 minutes. A very entertaining end to end game and it was lovely seeing the Poshies streaming out when ex Posh boy Anderson score in injury time. Green got the 4th a few moments later to seal it, a goal his never say die and endless running deserved.

For all the people who boycott and are against people turning up (which I completely understand) that's another 70-80k for the coffers tonight so maybe a quarter of a million from the checkatrade so far for us.

There’s a difference between supporting your team and supporting the rights of lower league football. If Lincoln do make it to the final, it only gives Shaun Harvey a big pile of logs to stoke his fire with. Do 6000 Lincoln fans really not understand what them attending means?

You're with the big boys now. Plus you didn't win at the weekend- saving yourselves?

Signal failure in the Canons Park area caused minor delays but the Lincoln Loco is now back up to full steam and operating a good service.

He gazed up at the enormous tournament. Two years it had taken him to learn what kind of smile was hidden beneath the dark moustache. O cruel, needless misunderstanding! O stubborn, self-willed exile from the loving breast! Two gin-scented tears trickled down the sides of his nose. But it was all right, everything was all right, the struggle was finished. He had won the victory over himself. He loved Shaun Harvey.

Does anyone really think the PL care if you've been to one of these games? They are paying players multiple hundreds of thousand pounds a week. If they decide they want b teams in the league, they will just throw more money at it until they get it. I don't like the idea myself and appreciate if people feel the need to make some kind of stance.
I haven't been to any of the games personally, not boycotting just can't be bothered after work. Fair play to anyone with whatever they see fit, but genuinely don't think a boycott will make a jot of difference if the trough gets filled a little more!

Look, we're destroying football now. That's just the way it is.

I’ll personally never attend a game in this competition whilst in the current format. On the boycott, I think it is working. Shaun Harvey and his Football League friends are embarrassed by the attendances last season so they put us all into groups with our nearest and dearest to try and push the crowds up.

Each to their own but I’ve got zero interest in watching Mansfield against any sides reserves infront of a crowd similar to that in which attends whatever game is on pitch 4 down Manor complex on a Sunday morning.

If you look on sky sports, the ONLY story on checkatrafe is Chelsea u21’s into semis. No mention of shrewd or lincoln. Tells a lot about the PL intentions

Lincoln don't do Wembley do they. I thought they always bottled it when the twin towers/arch were in sight!

Problem is Chelsea in the final are only down the road from Wembley so may get a lot of day tripper Chelsea fans who cant usually get tickets for the first team in a proper final.

I see Scotland are planning to put Celtic and Rangers u20’s in SF League Two.

This season they played in challenge cup (aka our checkatrade).

I bet our FA put the SFA up to it, to test the waters
How Dare You!!!!!!

The Checkatrade Trophy format in England is purely to help English youngsters get a feel for the real mans game to ensure a glorious future for the England National team with lots of guaranteed future World Cup wins on the horizon, this will definitely NOT be a prelude to eventual B teams in the Football League.

Shaun Harvey said so. :2thumb:

I think it should also be stated that there’s a vast difference between Scottish League 2 and our league 2 in terms or quality and fan support.

I understand the reasons for boycotting but I just disagree with one or two of them.I have been to the trophy games for one simple reason, I don’t think enough clubs would vote for b teams in the league for it to get through, naive maybe, but I know we definitely would vote against it.

One of our local bloggers/journalist has I believe hit it on the head in his article here ;
https://staceywest.net/2017/12/07/checkatrade-trophy-you-dont-help-yourself/. That the boycott goes back to the tribalism of football and the sense of belonging.

Some people think b teams will never be allowed into the league, while some think it's only a matter of time.

But that's all irrelevant. What matters is that people do not go to any game in this competition, be it against a fellow L2 side or some side masquerading as 'Spurs u/23', because at the end if the day, our dear Shaun will not separate the games involving the proper league sides and the u'23's when working out the average attendance.

Sure, it could well be that b teams are let in, irrespective of how many of us do or do not go to theses games, but by staying away and not watching the game on iFollow (the clubs get 80% of that fiver you pay to stream the match), one is doing his part and sending a clear message to the FA that he or she fears for the future of the beautiful game. It's just like when the government enacts some controversial law and people take to the streets in protest - there's no guarantee the law makers will listen, but you'e doing your part and that's what ultimately counts.

One last thing. I absolutely detest the pish - just like any U's fan after all - but tempting as it was, it never crossed my mind to go watch the game when the two sides were drawn together in the same group. I so wanted to be there but staying away was far more important to me and many others.
