Your recent success is largely down to Grimsby Town you know, had we not beat Braintree in the Semi they might have made it into the football league and Cowley would've surely stayed with them and you'd probably still be slumming it in the bottom half of the National League.

While I've been left embarrassed by some of our gates in this competition, it was heartening to hear Danny Cowley had met with representatives from one of our supporter groups and has pledged the club would vote against U21 sides if given the opportunity. Here's what he had to say.

"We had a really good meeting with the 617 Squadron. We wanted to understand why they were boycotting and wanted to try and talk them round.

“I totally understand their perspective and that of the other supporters who have chosen not to support this competition. I agree with what they stand for.

“From my perspective, I want them back at the games. I want them there because of the atmosphere they generate.

“Also, we’re just two games away from Wembley. We’ve got the chance to do something this club has never done before and I don’t want them to miss out.

“Everyone [across the country] is boycotting it so we thought we would come together. We wanted to listen to the supporters, which football clubs don’t do well enough in my opinion.

“We said in future, if there is a vote regarding Premier League teams being in this competition, then we would vote against it.

“We would back our supporters. That’s really important to me. We talk about the connection between the club and the supporters all the time but it can’t just be a one-way thing. They give us unconditional support so we have to give something back to them.

“We asked if they [the 617 Squadron] would come back into the building [for Trophy games]. Whether they’re going to or not is entirely up to them. It’s certainly not me trying to force their hand.

“Regardless of whether they come or not tomorrow, I totally respect what they stand for.”

Even before this season, our Board have always maintained they'd vote in line with supporters when the chance arose. DC's always said he would encourage a vote against B sides and U21 sides in lower league cup competitions.

I think there were quite a few Boardrooms this season who canvassed opinion as a token gesture and effectively took no notice of their fan base and voted the other way?

As a Club, we're as anti B and U21 as there is along with many others and I think people don't fully understand that due to the attendances we've had thus far.

Expect the Lincoln lot to keep turning out in big numbers for this farce, They don’t know any better but Peterborough can fuck right off.

I want Chelsea U21/23/B/U12girls to win it and take the prize money on offer so all the clubs who voted for it despite 90% of football fans being against it, Ourselves included might finally realise it is absolutely farcical.
