Deserved

Not so sure it was a deserved win. We played the much better football and must of had 70 percent possession in the first half but we gifted you two goals with defensive errors.

Second half more even and you grabbed the winner. Decent enough game but don't think either team did enough second half to warrant winning the match.
Dont think there was a huge amount between the sides but I thought we just about edged over the course of the game.

Very impressed to see a decent away support from Blyth down at Brackley today. That is one heck of a journey for those that came down from the north-east - a 9 hour round trip - especially given the weather. Our away turnout at Blyth, when it comes, may just be really rather smaller...

Great result today against a pretty decent BPA side who I thought were very unfortunate to come away with nothing from today's game. Especially after rattling the crossbar with virtual the last kick of the game.
Once again Adam Bartlett the league's best keeper by far pulled off two magnificent saves to keep us on track.

But after last weeks shambolic display down at Nuneaton that was a much improved performance in somewhat atrocious weather conditions. I'll take those 2-1 lucky scrapes every week, still not convinced we've turned the corner with today's performance like! But at the end of the day a wins a win.

I'd like to give a bit of credit where it's due with our defense today. Performed much better on this occasion especially after last weeks abysmal showing (Galbraith & Scott). Lets hope we can have the same display up at Blyth on Saturday?

I'll be disappointed if we can't bring in one or two new players in this week on loan to bolster the squad.
Especially with Dawson going back to Tranmere, no sign of Mendes today? And Vaulks never seen him for two weeks?

Finally another win away from home and at Nuneaton who have a decent record at home this season. Our away form this season has been pretty terrible with only 1 win coming away at Leamington but seems we blew away Nuneaton with a bit of class and a bit of luck.

Difficult position for Nuneaton with the sudden departure of Tommy Wright but a thoroughly professional job at a tough place to go in difficult conditions.

Jason Oswell must truly be find of the season, 13 goals already this season and another this weekend, latching onto Duxbury's knock back into the box the volley home on his weaker left foot. 2nd goal was a stroke of luck as Stopforth closed down a clearance, the ball striking him on the back and looping into the net. And then a third, this time an excellent free kick from 25 yards from Jimmy Ball.

Soft penalty conceded which Ormson did well to save but was put in on the rebound. But closed out the game to claim the 3 points.

Next up for us is Kidderminster at home on Saturday.

Meeting at FCUM to discuss the future of manager Karl Marginson tonight. Could be sacked after a 12 year stint as manager.

Good chance he'll be gone, although their fans are quite patient. Many of the Boston fans on sat seem to be getting the knives out for Murray.

Karl Marginson gone at FCUM - http://fc-utd.co.uk/story.php?story_id=7646

Hope that doesnt indicate an upturn in results!

Considering he arrived with no previous managerial experience, he's had a great time with some decent success at the club. And not a bad innings i suppose as well twelve years in charge.

I'm not so sure in thinking they'll suddenly turn results around. Very poor outfit up at BM in Sept.

One of three clubs (others being Stockport and Macclesfield) who I think may go for our manager Flanagan.

Although they usually like the fcum links so can see a former player as a fave

Looking forward to the trip up to Blyth tomorrow; doubt we will have the same numbers following us like we did couple years back. But still fully expect a good 500/600 to turn up.

Up the Darlo.

Tomorrows games

Bradford PA v Salford (1.30 pm KO)
Alfreton v Harrogate Town
Blyth Spartans v Darlington
Boston United v Brackley Town
Gainsbrough Trinity v Curzon Ashton
Leamington v North Ferriby United
Spennymoor v chorley
Stockort County v Kidderminster Harriers
AFC Telford v Southport
FC United v Nuneaton Town
York v Tamworth

Some important games tomorrow.

None more so than at the Impact Arena where Simon Weaver`s Harrogate comes up against his former assistant John McDermott. Plenty of players in both sides who have played for both teams too. Add to that the fact that the Impact Arena would probably be the last place Harrogate would want to come in search of three points having not won at our place since 2007. Hope that is still the case after tomorrow. Should be a decent game. Looking forward to it especially given home games are way too infrequent nowadays

Another game for us to try and *ahem* keep up the pressure on the top 3.

Not much pressure in my view, we needed to just make sure to win one of the Boston-gainsborough games and did so last week, although a win would be great to keep up this excellent form.....1 defeat in last 9 games currently.

Got to hope FCUM win their match also as i suspect they may look at Flanagan next week if their assistant does not get off to a flying start.

Long shot but do you remember much of a Dior Angus who played a number of games for harriers in the 2013/14 season?

I do, looked really quick and pacy in the pre-season but then we signed Joe Lolley and he dropped down the pecking order and was never really given a chance.

He's done well for Redditch as more of a striker it seems but he was on the wing for us. He always looked like he could come good but like I said Joe Lolley was far better and was given the chances ahead of him. Why are you signing him?

One things for sure I'll be their mate, not sure what to expect like from Wright's baptism of fire in the Darlo dug out. I would assume Brown will be back in the heart of the defense. This match It'll be like a home game for me, mind you the next one won't be down at Kiddy!

Interesting thank you for the info. Sounds decent. Apparently we are interested and close to signing him.

After that debacle, maybe we should just sack everyone involved and start again from scratch. It also shows the standard of this league - despite being woeful beyond my ability to express, we still nearly got something out of that, with 10 men.

Too many players who are not good enough and don't give a shit.

Alfreton 1-2 Harrogate

Very frustrating game today.

We made a terrible start and Harrogate were 2-0 up after just 7 minutes. A stupid penalty given away by Tom Platt and then Leesley glided past Topliss and put it on a plate for Emmett.

Harrogate had a few further chances before we finally woke up with 30 minutes played. After that we were the better side and were very unfortunate to not get a point and even 3 on another day.

Tom Allan headed home on 34 to half the defecit from a Daniels freekick.

Second half we were all over Harrogate and had them pinned throughout the half. Leesley was deservedly sent off 4 minutes in to the half. Several big chances came and went before the ref someohow missed a blatant handball. Didnt see the incident myself but the concesus was obvious from both sides it was a clear penalty. Shocking decision. Then Harrogate keeper Belshaw who had a worldie pulled off several good saves before he somehow kept out Daniels 84 th minute freekick. Stunning save.

Not our day. Harrogate knew they were fortunate to escape with all 3 points at the full time whistle.

Was obviously a game of two halves for us. Odd first 10mins where both sides could have been two up. Town settled into it thereafter but still a free flowing game with the added bite of a few facing former employers.

Thought the second half post sending off was great, backs to the wall spirit where in the last month we would have conceded with 11 on the pitch. Superb save and allegedly a bit of luck with the penalty.
However if we had the likes of Ainge we could easily of snuck a third had it not been for the inexperience/lack of guts for yet another couple of football league kids on loan. Think we have had one success in 3 seasons of numerous similar signings as cover. Does anyone else see that with their teams?

Oh and Mr Daniels. Still got a wonderful delivery on him but showed no desire elsewhere. Seems to have refined back his talent even further now to just set piece player. Mr Easy Route, as I suppose was his decision to bet away his big opportunity at Fylde.

Great chips btw and nice to see the Alfreton Directors chatting with away fans in the bar. Always welcoming.

Desperately need Ainge back, by early December apparently. A hugely surprising season so far and credit to Weaver. Just always have the sneaking suspicion the wheels will fall off like normal but hopefully the corner has turned today after recent matches, a corner that only contains one defeat in 22.
