Very interesting to see that Boston have released Brad McGowan. He was seen at the Impact a few weeks ago at our game v Nuneaton. Would have him back tomorrow. Wes atkinson is another surprise, Hasnt he been on loan at Solihull? He was impressive for us last seen. Tshimanga another that I am sure will not struggle to get a club at this level

On the flip side. Never rated Stephen Brogan and Jon Stewart is very error prone.

How had Mc Gowan done Josh Butler?

Seems he has tweeted to say he still hasnt recovered from that freak injury in December and may miss a portion of next season with his recovery. Maybe why he was released?

Kabongo Tshimanga was on loan under Tommy Wright at Corby Town a few year's ago, so could possibly be an early season target for us? Or Adam Boyes could be tempted away from Bradford? If they are still looking into making cutbacks.

Chorley did a Chorley to us tonight - there is a reason why they grind out results against the other top sides especially away from home.

They were physical, organised, gritty, made tactical fouls, defended set plays brilliantly ,played percentage long ball football extremely effectively and put pressure on the referee at every opportunity.

We started well but there was always going to be one goal in it and unfortunately it went Chorley’s way.

Our awful pitch meant we couldn’t play the decent passing football that we’ve been playing when at our best and ultimately I think that was the difference.

Well done to both BPA and Chorley on winning the first games. I expected Chorley to win (type of game stockport seem to always bottle and chorley players have that play-off experience) but the BPA result was certainly a shock. Think from sounds of it BPA were extremely fortunate whereas Chorley deserved to win so personally see more chance if either of these progress again it being Chorley than BPA (cannot keep hoping keeper has a blinder)

Think Stockport myself will push on from this season, one good thing for them was they finally made progress, I think adding some full time into their mix will help them push on.............Unsure on Kidderminster, am always impressed by them, but am unsure what their reaction will be now.

That Stockport failure has just made the Northern premier final enormous for Ashton United............the financial gain/loss for them based on winning is massive..........Altrincham, FCUM, Stockport all very large away crowds for them, an Ashton derby to attract locals and then still Darlo, Chester, Kiddy and York who can bring lots of fans from a distance.

I suppose they never seen spenny but i 100% agree with you, having seen them a week before season ended they were honestly a bye to the next round, their team was exhausted, creating very little and had players all out of positions.........its why they scraped 4 points vs pretty much 4 of the poorest sides this season.

Saying that its whether you say playing the reserves was the issue or just the horredous.....'didnt give a toss to defend' awful scrappy goals they gave away cost them..........either way its cost them their season.

Yes, Chorley have built their success on a solid and impressive growth in attendances. We first encountered them in the Unibond North at the end of the 2008/ 2009 season, when 300 Shaymen matched up against 100 home fans. They brought barely 30 to The Shay.

2 years later, we'd moved on and Chester landed in that league. This seemed to stimulate a sense of local rivalry at Chorley, especially the 2 derby matches and fans started to roll up. As success continued, the crowds continued to grow and the club rode up the leagues on that back of that, culminating in the 2000 Chorley fans who rocked up at The Shay last May to help set a record attendance at Level 6 and contribute to what must be the most intense atmosphere ever seen at a non league match.

In summary, in the context of traditional non league sides mixing it with the Ex-League clubs in the National League, Chorley are the ONLY club I can think of who would have achieved this in the right way (should they get here) and will have 100% EARNED the right to be here and should be welcomed with open arms as worthy opponents.

Cheers B2TF, it was a great occasion at the Shay, thoroughly enjoyed by everyone, as you said what an atmosphere, the stadium was bouncing. Chorley have tried to build in a sustainable manner, we are not bank rolled and don't spend money that is not earned, hopefully we can take the next step, we know it will be tough and even tougher should we get promotion, but we will have earned it.

I imagine Chorley have always had some core fanbase (naturally it would have dipped during its tougher times during the earlier part of the millennium as many football fans are fickle) as they've been one of the better and well-known sides in non-league, playing in the top two divisions for much of their history and enjoying those cup runs during the 1980s and 90s when they had that sensational 3-0 win over Wolves, took Preston to a replay and beat Bury, which no doubt raised their profile among locals. So it's not like one of those tiny clubs which virtually no fans (directors doesn't count) that spend the entirety of their history in county league football before being artificially bank-rolled up the divisions.

Bradford did a job on us but they didn't deserve the win. We lost because we didn't take our chances we should've been out of sight and it's our own fault we weren't. I can't see them going up honestly. I want either Brackley or Chorley gone. Brackley are a good side and I don't want to be battling them next season and Chorley do my head in whenever we play them we just can't beat them.

It seems that there was some interest, but nothing concrete. Looks increasingly as though the club was never really for sale. Gray has been carrying on regardless as if he had the faintest idea what the budget for next season would be.

Last year there as a 500k loss - largely down to the installation of two 3G pitches. I'd be surprised if Town truly did make a profit but it would seem like Weaver isn't blowing as much money on Harrogate as some people would like believe.

We made over £300k on gate receipts alone. Must have made 100k or more on 3G rent. Hosted all sorts of tournaments over the last 12 months +plus 3 Spennymoor matches.
The wage budget isn't going to be that high with a young squad. It won't be far off.

Not the only National North manager to leave today.

Chris Moyses has left Alfreton after negoations broke down at a crucial stage.

Comes as a shock. Chris pretty much confirmed that he was staying on after the defeat at Chorley on Radio Derby. Saying that he had to cross the Ts and dot the Is but he was expecting to stay on.

Seems he had a meeting last Thursday with the board which unanimously voted for him to stay up but they asked him to come back with a budget that he believed would get the club promoted. The club turned down what he came back with and apparently he said that the club really needed to go full time.
He then expected a counter offer but that never came.

A great shame. Huge thanks to Chris for his efforts. He clearly cared and worked extremely hard to preserve our National League North status. He delivered on his remit and leaves with my very best wishes!

Billy Heath is the early favourite. However it is clear they has been a disagreement over budget. Cant see Billy Heath agreeing to a small budget..
