who you got 1st? :devil::devil:
we're a taller more physical - but better passing side than last season.... and have a guy who can put throw ins on the penalty spot from the half way line - so should be interesting....

Oh no not Barrow!

We will struggle as normal against the physical sides N'gala was brought in to change this but I don't see it changing. I think we could end up scoring a shed load of goals this season but will struggle to keep clean sheets.

I reckon we'll do okay this season, but there's a chaotic feel about the club at the moment (still got places to fill in the squad, directors disappearing, star players departing etc) that I think we'll get caught cold. Hammered by you on the opening day, struggle at home to Halifax, and sets us up for a frustrating first couple of months, as per usual.

Lost narrowly to Notts County, 2-1. We still look shaky in defence and lightweight in midfield, but we'll score goals. That's it for us now apart from a closed doors game against Bradford City's U23s in the week. AFC Telford Utd on Saturday and we really need to get off to a flying start or the pre-season optimism will evaporate very quickly indeed.

I would be surprised if we did finish in the top two. From the outside it looks better than it is. I think about 5th again for us.

We needed to get a better keeper and full backs but we've not done that. We let Benson and Guttridge go who were vital at many points last season. Experience is key in this league. Also expect many offers for our players before the window shuts.
Where has Guttridge gone? Thought he was still a class act last season

Plenty of goals and plenty of cause for excitement.

Playing an experimental-ish side against Arsenal's yootdem tonight. Back five will be starting on Saturday, but it's Mooney and the kids further forward. Good to see Davis aiming to grow the continuity at the back. Could be a fun game.

a lot of trialists in our last friendly - anyone recognise any names;-
https://twitter.com/BarrowAFC/status/892451775034294272

Barely recognise a couple of the Barrow names - love the complete guesswork for Panayiotou!
Ramsbottom - ex-Tranmere
Diagne - ex-Macc (slow, old?)
Mendy - ex-everyone! Have seen him play, probably for Lincoln
King - ex-Bradford (can't do directions)
Smith - presumably the ex-Gateshead lad
Demetriou - ex-Forest
Rooney - Plymouth (saw he was on trial at another non-league side the other day)
Oseyemi - Harrow
Kassells - ??? Spelled wrong?
Finch - Coventry (heard he was with us weeks ago, so I assume he's been in all summer)
Lakhany - anyone's guess.

Phew, a lot of players who we'll no doubt never hear of again.

Long Eaton 1- 6 Alfreton Town

very good nights work. Dominated from start to finish. (Their goal a long range screamer) Played some excellent passing, one touch football. Ryan Jennings is an absolute beast of a player. Waay too good for Conference North.

Had a few interesting trialists tonight too including winger Billy Whitehouse. Was released by Doncaster at end of last season. Has spent the whole of pe season at Port Vale but was not offered a deal there. Has joined us to keep up his match fitness and is hopeful of an offer from the football league. He was superb tonight so I hope we sign him but I cant see it. Very happy with our pre season overall. Now bring it on!

In today's NLP it states the game between Highgate and Enfield Town yesterday was to mark the 50th anniversary of lightening victim Tony Allden. It states Enfield Town are Enfields successors . I always thought it was the other Enfield team 1893. What is right ?
Still awaiting an answer chaps.

Diagne's speed was never his downfall, it was just his ability to occasionally fuck things up at the back. We ended up using him as a wide-left forward for an extended period of time. He is tall though.

Mendy was good when he was with us, no idea about now. Somewhat immortalised at Macc for scoring this goal against Bolton in the FA cup; probably the best goal I've seen us score.
