Drew 1-1 with Leeds Utd,played some very good football for 60 mins, had a trailist at centre half who looked very good and scored.the kind of player we desperately need.
Last 30 mins we had 10 of last years team on pitch omg that was hard to watch and brought back bad memories.

Perhaps Joe Tait from Spennymoor.

Suspect optimism from last year leads to expected higher gates. Chairman may be banking on it being anyone's league and wanting to have a genuine shot at it. Some reckon margetts, arnold, marriott on about 5 to 600 a week. Wouldn't surprise me if we upped the wage bill 10 or 20 percent but we only need to get back to gates of 1300 for it to pay for itself. Should be more than doable if we're any good

Fair point, sounds like your chairman's ambitious, totally agree it's anybody's league for the taking this season i suppose, with a whole host of clubs that have strengthened throughout the summer with some quality signings.

Simon Grand signs on for us.

Who would win a race between him and Steve Howson then? :bg:

Don't know who Howson is, but I can confirm that when Simon Grand made his Dale debut back in Dec 2002 he was faster than his defensive partner - the 39 year old Richard Jobson! :)

I rated him at Dale, and was perplexed when we released him. Glad to see he's had a decent career.

I presume you won’t be playing a very high line.
Good signing though and will score his fair share at the other end as well

I'd expect Grand and Howson to swap shifts in partnering Moran at the back. Doubt we'll see them together that often.

We've signed attacking midfielder George Green from Nuneaton for an undisclosed fee.

How can a club which supposedly hasn't got a pot to piss in, and has been provided with money "for improving infrastructure" by a local benefactor, afford to pay a fee for a player?

We've just lost Crawford to Notts County, Jones to Salford and Archer to Bury.

Money for all of them, not to mention a recent 4,000 gate for a friendly.

Fair enough, I knew about the friendly but haven't been paying close enough attention about the transfers.

The fee is no more than £5k I would imagine … if that!

He had a good stint at Salford City bagging nine goals, they had a lot of respect for Simon Grand gutted that he left. A heated discussion or disagreement with the powers to be over a contract i think?

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
Doesnt Bode well for Ashton United after they fall to a heavy defeat at Trafford FC

To be fair I had Ashton down for bottom three when they took Reagan off us............he was dreadful as full back last year........full backs were pretty much first thing Flanagan went for this summer

Trafford FC also beat Chorley 2-1 in a pre-season friendly last week. Looks like they are going for a treble, next in line are Alty on Tuesday night.

AFC Telford United have announced the signing of 23-year-old Jud Ellis from Market Drayton Town.

Bradford (Park Avenue) have announced the signing of 26-year-old defender Conor Branson. Had a brief spell in non-league football with Guiseley during the 2011/12 season.

Trafford 1 Alty 2 Comfortable win against a decent Trafford side, can see why they beat Ashton and Chorley, they have quite a threat up front and two decent ex Alty players too. But we controlled the game throughout but lots of changes by both sides didnt help the flow and a few trialists used, one of whom was very good. Last year we lost a player for the season in this game, thankfully seems no injuries tonight.

Were going to surprise a few people.

Former York City, Barrow and Bradford (Park Avenue) striker Adam Boyes has joined Spennymoor Town ahead of the 2018/19 season. Boyes, 27, becomes Jason Ainsley's seventh signing of the summer.

I think he was on our shopping list at one point, but i always thought he put pen to paper with a new contract for BPA? Obviously Spendy have offered him the world.

Evidently gave some sob story about travelling, needed to find something closer to home. Shortly after Spennymoor come knocking! What a coincidence :D

What a story these footballers will lie through their back teeth, no doubt he'll have a decent wage increase at Spenny! I'm not 100% certain but if he wanted to be near home, he probably had a chance signing for us?

He scored some important goals for us but his goals to chances ratio was pretty poor. Some of the 'misses' left fans feeling bemused at times.

DarkSithLord we've had Ed Wagner on trial all pre-season. He's looked pretty good so far would probably only be a backup if we signed him. What did you think of him?

Signed Danny Livesey and Anthony Dudley on season long loan deals from Salford.

Also brought in young goalkeeper Theo Roberts on a permanent deal after his release from Wigan.
