Another good signing for Boston in Adam Marriott - another recent former Imp there!

If he had a bit of pace, he's be in the FL. Very much in the Jamie Forrester mould. A few injuries haven't helped him along the way either but he was fine with us.

Was with us for nearly 3 seasons and never realised his potential. His high point was scoring the 3rd in our 3-2 win over Wrexham .. that was about it. He went missing and failed to turn up for matches on occasions. His last season he regressed considerably and because he was an arrogant so and so we were glad to see the back of him. He was regularly not even in the match day squad at Dover

Sounds like NLN could be his level and he was certainly the difference when he played for Telford against us at the end of last season.

Was great for Worcester years ago, but seems to have lost what he had then. He wasn't good enough when with us the season before last - didn't have an end product. I don't think you'll get rave reviews from York fans either.

Just watched York beat Bradford city 1-0 today,either they have improved or Barnsley are miles better than Bradford.Of all the new signings Kempster who signed from Whitley bay in Feb and Vinny Steele 17 year old from Darlo looked the best,Steele will be some player in future.
Penn seems have installed some shape in midfield but we still look crap at central defence.

Bradford looked well below their usual standard against us on Tuesday. Granted it was the usual mix of 1st and youth teamers but still not up to par.
Unless they have better quality to come in they will struggle big time this season.

Would you believe that there were lots of Chester fans who thought he was ace. He scored 4 goals quite quickly, but just gave the ball to the opposition constantly. He was even accused of getting himself sent off deliberately.

Struggled with the basics - controlling the ball and passing accurately to a team mate. The Yorksire Amateurs pitch was water starved so rock hard and bobbley but the others managed.

The worry for Guiseley is the faith Bignot is seemingly showing in a number of players who featured heavily for us last season, undoubtedly the worst I've ever seen of us. Halls and James are signed on and Dawson is on trial. Halls in particular seems to have become a right gym buff since his Macc days and only got bigger as the season progressed with us. Having seen a few pics of Guiseley’s friendly the other night the lad has only expanded even more since.

I doubt any of these are coming particularly cheap either.

Thanks for the detail. I was under the impression Bignot was quite a decent manager and it was the club's shortcomings rather than his own that led to his departure.

Don't worry Steve, certainly will! I might even be down myself this season, not been since October 2016, 1-1 draw on a freezing night vs Gateshead.

With so many changes in personnel including management, along with not knowing the strength of opposition in this league it's impossible to judge how we will progress to be honest. We can only hope for the best
Impressed with Marcus and Russ they are really drilling the players in how they want them to play, giving constant instruction and feedback during these friendly games.

I thought he might of stayed with us Vinny Steele. He's a future investment that's for certain, somewhere along the line he'll no doubt get snapped up by the vultures that circle our clubs.

Southport have announced that 25-year-old defender Josh Langley has joined on a one-year deal from AFC Fylde after being captain and making over 100 appearances for the Coasters.

Nuneaton Borough have announced the re-signing of goalkeeper Ross Etheridge. After his release by Doncaster Rovers, Etheridge joined the Boro on a deal until the end of the 2017/18 season.

We've also taken lamin colley on trial. He was fucking dire for us 2 years ago. Not sure why we've gone for him again potentially....
But looking good overall. Grant Roberts is a very good squad player in midfield. The sort of player who if fit will help get us in the top 5

Suspect optimism from last year leads to expected higher gates. Chairman may be banking on it being anyone's league and wanting to have a genuine shot at it. Some reckon margetts, arnold, marriott on about 5 to 600 a week. Wouldn't surprise me if we upped the wage bill 10 or 20 percent but we only need to get back to gates of 1300 for it to pay for itself. Should be more than doable if we're any good

He was on trial for us on Friday against Morecambe. solid enough and played well for Telford f against us at the end of the season but I am glad we didnt sign him.
