Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
Are there any murmurs of an alternative reason for Flanagan's sacking? The publicly given reason, of unacceptable form, absolutely beggars belief.

After losing El Clashtico I can see your boys finishing below Ashton Utd

No clue but I may get to chat to some about it on sat.

I don’t think player power as most players have been with him years. It isn’t rashness because Curzon had only 3 managers in 17 years. Doubt it financial because they had the manager able to work on scraps.

Change of approach maybe my best guess, it has always been a passing style but last season a belief at first of needing to go direct to survive here (an approach scrapped about 3 games into last season)

Maybe that argument come to a head again during this season, that or pushing youth (due to them appointing youth manager to manager)

Will never know but it is looking costly

Can't see us doing anything at Stockport. Easy 3 points for them

If we're Alty's bogey team, then you lot are our's.

County have won one and lost six of the last eight meetings between the two.

One of the only ones you won was the trophy replay as well. But we're so bad atm I can only see one winner.

0-0 draw, with Mulhearn and Hinchliffe sent off, if you would.

Either us or Stockport could be bringing in Josh Heaton.

Be surprised if it’s us as our centre back pairing of Palmer and Stott is strong. One of them is only on loan but the rumour is Michael Raynes will be on his way back if we can’t keep Stott long-term

Another game another late goal. McFarlane needs to go.
3 wins in 13 now and 1 goal in the last 3 matches - I probably agree that a change is needed now. With the players we've got, we should be creating so many more chances. Anything other than a win at home to Hereford should mean the end for him, but realistically, I can't see Gordon sacking him.

That's pretty much the same as us now.

Good win against a tough curzon side, we were very poor after Wilson went off but we managed to hold on. Hopefully a win on nyd against fcum and we will be out of the poor run we had

We have only conceded 4 goals in the last 9 games so today was always going to be difficult for you guys.

Overall I think we just about deserved the win, mostly for our first-half display where we had two chances cleared off the line, forced your keeper into a point-blank save and had a goal disallowed for what looked like a debatable foul.

Second half was edged by the visitors but apart from a goal mouth scramble from a set-piece they didn’t really create much.

It was fitting that Minihan got the winning goal as he was our best player for me keeping Bradley very quiet.

Particularly pleasing to get the win with three midfielders missing with illness and a fourth going off injured very early.

Everybody wants to see a new striker brought in but for me i’d be looking at pacy wideman who can play either side - then we can ship Stephenson out.

Our super manager made 5 changes today and played a different system, apparently he accused a lot of players of not looking after themselves Christmas Day,can’t wait till New Year Day against Darlington, after New year eve I’m expecting them pissed, manager is clueless and taking us down.

Aside from when we played Brackley, that's a pretty good summary of every game since we beat Leamington 4-0 on 30th October. We've also played each of the teams in the bottom six once and failed to beat any of them. We were flying this season until we played Stourbridge in the FA Cup. They came from behind to beat us and since that match, we've looked a shadow of the team we were. The run of fixtures in January isn't looking kind either. We could be well out of the play off race by February. The decision to loan out Ironside to York is looking crazier every week.

Ironside can’t get a game and doesn’t seem fit,Digie is ok but hope he goes back to you.
When we signed Ironside thought it would be great signing but we have got better strikers just a shit manager who hasn’t a clue.
Our central midfield is appalling and has been for years, how is Penn doing.

Not much else to add to WNM's post. Was worrying to hear most of our midfield would be out with a flu bug, thank goodness we've got some strength in depth there (if it'd been the defence we'd be screwed). Very open first half, should've probably been something like 2-1 going into the break. Real shame to lose Walker so early too; his replacement Stephenson started really brightly but lost his effectiveness as the game wore on.

Maybe Minihan should've been MOTM but I'd also have given it to Mulhern, he was a constant hassle for the centre halves. Thought Kiddy's full-backs looked good, hard work getting around them; that tall midfielder was also harrying & harassing a lot (didn't catch his number, you shouldn't be allowed to print black on red... at least it's not as bad as Telford putting white numbers on white shirts a couple of years ago)

Alty & BPA next. Both sets of fans probably think the New Years day game is a foregone conclusion. Then it's the big one against BPA, can't wait to see what all the fuss is about with them

Not one of our better performances but we often struggle here at Curzon, thank god for Carver and his pin point header that sealed the points today. Curzon huffed and puffed and won plenty of balls in midfield but offered little in the penalty area. Defence quite solid today, hopefully we will play better at home against FC Utd on New Years Day.

Southport 2-1 Alfreton

One step forward and 3 step back. Shite. Criminal goals given away. Half asleep still and 1 down after 80 secs and then a defensive disaster and its 2.

Almost robbed a point at the end but for Hanford but a better side should have put us to the sword.

I am not liberty to say on here exactly what I hear on the grapevine but we need leadership from the club.

To be fair you were no mugs and probably worthy of a point. It wasn't until we went 433 in the second half that we got a foothold back in the match, but even then Handford still kept us in it. The game was more a battle of physicality at times than It was a football match, but that's what this league can be about at this time of year. We've played far worse sides than yourselves recently, you'll be just fine.

Darlington 2 Ashton United 1

I was dreading this game we struggled against them back in August. Today we huffed and puffed and made hard work of seeing off the resilient second from bottom club Ashton. I'd have to say very relieved at the final whistle (where did the referee get those five minutes from?) and a tremendous much needed 3 points in the bag.

Today was all about Andrew Nelson with another 2 great goals to his tally, and one of them will be a contender for goal of the season what a peach of a goal. I was glad he got man of the match rightfully earned with his all round determination up front.

Wasn't a great game from a spectator's point of view, but then again who cares that's job done. I'll take these results all season, and on the plus side that's two in a row now. Happy days!!

York here we come on NYD! Up the Darlo!

Whoever get's this lad won't be disappointed. All he wants is a chance to prove himself in which i don't think St Mirren gave him that opportunity. He's an absolute monster at centre back.

"There was a rumour going around weeks ago that we were signing a St Mirren player, Heaton was highly rated at Darlo."

That's off our forum. Hopefully this one comes through unlike O'Hanlon :bg:

Heaton is a superb player, make sure you don't sign him until we have played you, thanks.

Good to hear some positive comments from opposition fans. We did look jaded yesterday and i think the quick turnaround was too much for us.

Lets see if we recover for the visit of Boston

I think our Tommy is trying to reach out to Sir Andrew Nelson and still hopeful we can keep him for a little bit longer than a month. There is believed to be interest in Scotland and League 2 in England.
