That is the problem isnt it, from where I was no way would I see the throw you are talking about. From my position, about 20 yards away, no doubt at all about the red card, we have to rely on these officials and I think the one thing g we probably all agree on is generally they are not good enough at this level. As I said before been impressed by Alty both in the league game here when you really should have been 3 up at half time, complete change second half and in the game at your. Just say the two players we had missing that day did make a huge difference to the game. Good luck next season.
Its all about opinions and the only one that matters on the day is the Refs !

We are appealing the red card, your lad was already falling over from another challenge and Hancock took the ball cleanly with one foot and never even touched Carver who was in the air falling over Richmans leg ! Dont think Hancock has even been booked before,.. but he did slightly leave the ground as he was about to get the ball which is why the ref gave it,.. plus half your team surrounding him :)! Sh.t happens.
Good luck, we dont want to be playing you next year thanks :bye:

Doesn't matter whether he didn't touch him in this day and age. Two footed and off the ground.

Yeah I know, but when he took the ball his feet were on the ground. Have seen them given and not as well, just how the ref saw it,.. I do actually agree with the law. Just not when its by an Alty player :gmc::gmc:

Time for reflection on the other semi - nobody much interested on this board! Spennymoor are a tough outfit, who wouldn`t surprise me if they edged out Chorley.

Those of us watching Brackley this season know that Armson missing on Sunday was important. We also never understood why Kevin Wilkin signed Greg Smith as Ndlovu`s partner up front. Kevin doesn`t make many mistakes, but he got that one wrong and it has hurt us all season. Too many chances needed to be created to score the goals that mattered, and in the tight games we dropped the points that stopped us winning the title. It has been a small squad all season, and a couple of injuries at the wrong times have not helped. Connor Hall in for Alex Gudger took have a season to settle (not surprising), but now looks the part alongside the legend that is Gaz Dean.

If we can add that sharp, pacey poacher to play alongside Lee, and maybe one season-long midfielder, I`d be surprised if we were not very close to the top next season. Judging by the Stockport forum, nobody there will miss us joining them, which I take as a backhanded complement.

Every team are looking for that sharp pacy poacher, common as Rocking Horse droppings. Been to Brackley, enjoyed the day there still hope we don't see you next season, but for the right reason. We really owe Spennymoor a beating.

I'm interested....

5th time I've seen Brackley competing in playoffs, and we've never won one. Had hoped our end of season form and FA Trophy experience would see us over the line. No surprise to see us unable to convert our slight superiority in the game into a win - we've failed at that all season. Lee Ndlovu has become such a better player & vital if you play only one up front, but I have no confidence he'll ever take a chance... even if its an open goal.

Agree that Connor took a season to settle - looks a lot better now.

As for that second striker I agree with both your and Prodigal. We have 4 strikers at the club every year, and very few ever seem to get a game. No doubt Jeffers and Nti will go and will get a couple more to warm the bench. Clearly finding strikers is very challenging. Personally I'd like us to get another centre half and play 3-4-2-1 with both Baker and Armson behind the main striker.

That said, I'm not sure I ever want Armson back again. Disgraceful to miss the key game of the season for a wedding. No excuses in my mind. One of the Blyth players missed their playoff for a holiday. Glad to shell out my money every week for players with this sort of commitment...

Definitely don't need much to have a great shot at it next year, as there doesn't look an outstanding team (although you're always waiting for teams like Kiddy and York to get themselves together), but this year is a real missed opportunity.

Becoming an interesting thread. We`ve never replaced Aaron Williams, who must be regretting going to Harrogate. Having seen them sink vs Fylde, last season`s form should have had him starting for them.

Wilkin`s era has delivered two playoffs? - previous ones must have been with a completely different squad? Agree this was a huge wasted opportunity - Lee won`t have slept much on Sunday night after one open goal miss, and that penalty!

Didn`t know the circumstances behind Armson`s absence. Very disappointing, but he has his own business and is part time, so arguably is playing mainly for fun. If he was full time, he would not have had the wedding option, but then he would not be at St James` Park.

You have to get your strikers signed up early - anybody coming in during season is bound to be not quite at the level. Jeffers and Nti have had their moments, but aren`t the guy we need. Not easy, but if Wilkin can crack it, the side should go close.

In two minds about promotion - the chance to compete in League Division 5, effectively, vs the impact on the match day experience. Crowds over 800 put a lot of pressure on the bar team and the prize winning burger bars!

If rumours are to be believed, then Reece Styche is heading back up the a1 to Darlo.

That rumour has been around for weeks. Wouldnt surprise me if it transpired. Reece Styche has never looked interested. Good striker at this level but way too petulant and just not my type of player.

Trouble is sides that dismantle their team and rebuild year after year don't really seem to get anywhere as it takes too long to gel, especially the way the season is top loaded with the number of games in August and September. That said, from what you have been saying Alfreton need a rebuild job. We couldn't cope losing 2 players and switching from 3-5-2 to 4-4-2 this year until post Christmas...

Cant see it personally. We dont have a manager yet so how anyone can be talking about players for next season other than those already under contract. Especially one which would take up a considerable amount of the budget.

Have to wait and see who is manager first and then see if Styche fits into their style of play. Was very surprised when Alfreton signed him in the first place, certainly wouldn't have put him down as a Heath player and so it seems has transpired.

Styche was honestly superb for us, a proper talisman. One of those strikers who you could count on to get a goal from nothing. I'd literally wee myself if we resigned him as we were toothless up front after he left, especially with Ainge having to play defence all of the time.

However, I just don't see it happening in a million years as much as I'd love to dream about it, we don't have a manager and whomever the new manager is might have no interest in signing Styche.

It would not surprise me if Wright was working on bringing him back in the background, so maybe this would have been more realistic had we not sacked him.

DSL what have you heard about it, you seem to always be in the know regarding things behind the scenes at your club.

I agree to an extent how for us in the past 3 seasons we have started very well with a complete new squad being in the play offs at the end of September. After our win at Darlington this season we were third for a time but it all started to go wrong.

Heard nothing more than the rumour thats been around for a few weeks that Darlo were interested in re signing Reece.

I think you might be right regarding Tommy Wright being the catalyst behind the rumours. Time will time I suppose.

King's Lynn beat Warrington 3-2 in the super play off final, Michael Gash with the winner in extra time.

King's Lynn, Farsley & Kettering promoted, Oxford City & Gloucester presumably moved across. Presuming Farsley hasn't got loads of money behind them, then surely for a few teams it the best opportunity to win the league for a good while. Spennymore / Chorley, Blyth, Brackley, Altrincham, Kidderminster, Chester, perhaps York will think they've got a real chance?

Not sure what the situation is at Farsley but they are selling adult season tickets for £80 for next season so someone must be footing the bill.

Agree with you that the league may be even more open next year. Unless Blyth can find a decent whack of cash for next season then they risk their side being taken apart. their board has come forward and said they dont have the cash to continue this level of funding and Armstrong has said he doesn't have the budget to give his squad the same terms for next season.

Who ever stays down out of Chorley and Spenny will be in a good position for next season. As will Altrincham and Brackley if they can keep that team together.

But for me I think Steve Watson will take York to the league title next season. Was a big part of getting Maccelsfield back to the football league. He built a playoffs team at gateshead before he left and made a mediocre York side a lot more solid this season. Great appointment for them and being full time I expect them to be a force to be reckoned with next season.

The man behind the Farsley Celtic set-up was John Palmer and his family he's recently stood down with him being in his eighties. Palmer was instrumental in getting Farsley to where they are now, a new chairman called Paul Barthorpe is taking over the reins at the club.

He was generous enough to cover all the costs for the supporters to gain free entry against Marine.

I liked Bartlett, even after his dodgy debut at Gainsborough. I don't think we could afford to have him back in all honesty. Jake Turner is a much better keeper if i had to choose.

Are they circulating from the man himself? He's definitely a good striker no doubt about that if he keeps his gob shut, looked lost and out of position in the 0-0 draw at The Impact.

Think I want Chorley up today, it'd probably mean no local game for us next season, but the thought of being in the same league as Spennymoor doesn't bear thinking about.
