I see no one else has put an OFFICIAL predict the league thread up for The Vanarama National League, so I'm taking it upon myself to do so. There's been predictions floating around in the main thread, but here is where we can compare and laugh at our predictions later in the season. I'll tally them up at the end of the season and declare a winner, deadline for entries and edits will be before the first games kick off.

Really strong league this year (on paper) and wouldn't be surprised to see any of those top 14 sides sneak into the play-offs.

I want to lose 4 southern teams again... just in case we don't go up ;)
If that's all there is behind it then I'm disappointed. We were more than a 24th-finishing team tonight. You never know, but from our on-field performances we're leaving putting a squad together very late indeed (third only to Bury and Bolton, oh fourth after Notts County maybe?), but the recruits we have, have kept their heads and played with éclat.

Also pleased that we've got Barra away on a bank holiday and the week I move to Cumbria.

Your optimism is admirable chipmunx. Definitely a glass half full type of guy. Was you the Barrow fan stating you were playing like barca early on last season? That and now putting yourselves finishing 3rd has cheered me up no end this morning, so thanks for that

My first effort at this. Been here 3 seasons now and have a better idea about other teams. Difficult league to predict, looks a very tough division. There are quite a number of contenders. I'd say the top 4 are pretty much nailed on then after that there's 8 or 9 teams who could easily get the last 3 PO spots. There'll be a fair points gap between the top 4 and the rest. Reckon even as little 68 points might get 7th, can see everyone beating each other but the top 4 just being that bit more solid at the back and a 20 goal forward.

I'm not sure there's that much between your top 4 and the rest - we won 3 drew 4 and lost 1 against them last season and didn't lose to any of them away

Quite happy that everyone is writing us off. Despite a less than ideal pre season, we’ve been playing some good stuff and the signings and trialists have looked good. Happy to go under the radar

#barracelona was the twitter tag from several games last season, although i'm not sure if it was me or someone else who pointed it out. Our strength in depth and starting line up is far better this season - so who knows how high we can/will finish - I have cursed Fylde by saying you'll win it though - I think i tipped Aldershot last year and look how well they did...

Yeah anyone can beat anyone on the day but the difference is consistency, there are sides you or us didn't put away but they did more often.

Squad wise those 4 are the strongest all round units and have solid managers (possible question marks over Hughes at Wrexham?) and you'd back them to get results most weeks.

I'd be surprised if Wrexham managed to keep pace with Fylde and Solihull to be honest. No doubt they'll be up there at Christmas though

They've got the players to grind out wins and seems they've added to the forward line so on paper they can. We just don't know if Hughes has the acumen yet to get the job done for them..

We've got the players, it's just down to the manager. We weren't that far off last season and I'd say we've improved the forward line significantly, while keeping hold of the most important players in our defence.

I'm not unduly worried about Bryan Hughes as long as he has Brian Flynn at his side. They inherited a team in the second half of the season, and they tried to improve it whilst being shackled by a number of donkeys and the budget for their carrots. Flynn will have identified where the holes were, what shape they were, and how Hughes should fill them; it would seem "on paper" that this is what has happened. I'm massively more confident this season than I have been for years.
