I like Blackpool as an away day, I go every time we play there.

But it is a massive dump, far worse than even Bradford which I'm not denying is a dump.

Don't take it personally, it's not your fault it's a dump, just like it isn't any of our faults who were born in dumps. Most town/city centres outside of London, Leeds, Birmingham and Manchester are big dumps. Nobodies fault except the governments, lighten up it's a forum ffs.

It's all very alien to us Burton fans. We have no local rivals as Derby fans see us as their second team and flit between the two.
When we where non league we had a thing with Tamworth and a bit with Nuneaton.
I don't know what's worse..wasting energy hating a team and their fans so much, or having no rivals at all.

In a genuine comment, Ipswich v Norwich is a tinpot derby. Some of the lower league ones are fierce. Honorable mentions to Chesterfield v Mansfield, Grimsby Lincoln and Wrexham Chester

In short, it’s not a case of just Ipswich or just Norwich, it’s Suffolk v Norfolk. I and very few Ipswich fans know Norwich fans and I presume vice versa. The only time we come together is the East Anglian derby and I physically feel sick going into the game, can’t stand them getting another one over us

People don’t understand it because we’re both miles from any other (significant) club in the country

I would have to back up the Ipswich fan. Ipswich v Norwich is a big one irrespective of miles. There are no other teams around them so it's more of a county derby. Similar to Leeds hating Man Utd - Yorkshire v Lancashire.

In all seriousness though you looked very good last night. A young Birmingham team had no chance.

I think we all know that Portsmouth away with a squad not yet fully settled is a bit of a right off so hoping we just go out all guns blazing with nothing to lose!

I went to the Old Farm derby last season in Ipswich, and it was the tamest derby game I've ever been to. Crap atmosphere, no aggression, no taunting even though both sets of fans were in the same stand, relaxed atmosphere outside the ground... it was an odd experience. I've seen tastier non league games.

The ground is set out wrong for it to be ‘tasty’ at Portman road as that stand is filled mainly with the old fans that sat there when it was built. If the Norwich lot were near the SBR stand it would be different. Likewise for outside the ground, where they are the police shoot them straight up to the train station away from the SBR stand.

To be honest as well, the Norwich away fans are crap for atmosphere. Carrow road is a better atmosphere because we’re actually near to their ‘hardcore’ fans and I’d say we’re not overly bad as away fans for atmosphere.

It used to be tastier when we were actually remotely competitive on the pitch but Premier League money and Evans lack of commitment our side has meant they have been much better for a decade. Until Evans leaves I don’t think we’ll be able to compete with them.
