Not going to Portsmouth tomorrow after giving up with Tranmere’s hopeless ticket site.
A draw at Fratton would be brilliant for us, but I can only see this game going one way after making Rochdale look like Barcelona.

To be fair Tranmere at least came down and had a go without the time wasting we often see. Weirdly your lot seemed to give up after conceding. First goal is another for Ben Close's personal goal of the season competition.

The wind played havoc but we looked decent with ball on the ground. This looks like a better team than last season and might live up to the favourites tag. Your number 7 looked good early on but got isolated when he sat wide. That number 6 ffs! That'll be some match up when he meets Akinfenwa!

Fantastic win today. After a rough opening 20 mins we grew into it and saw there wasn't much of a gap. As ever, we were organised and put bodies on the line. Rotherham resorted to hoofing it which in the main Bolger dealt with. Vickers with a terrific save at the death. Cowley's defeat another hoodoo.

I was keeping up to date on social media and after the first 15/20 minutes it sounded as though Rotherham were on top but after that, it seemed like your typical Cowley away performance - keeping it nice and tight and taking your chance(s) when they arrive.

We've always had a definite home and away set-ups under DC, so today would have been completely different to the free-flowing attacking football last week at SB.

Draw was fair today but so annoying when it’s so late, two weeks running we have conceded late goals. Hope we knock that on the head! We’ve made a good start picking 4 points up and there’s definitely more positives than negatives. Look much improved on last season.

Love how Shrewsbury fans were touching themselves over how good a signing they thought Ebanks-Landell would be. I said on here when they signed him he's a liability and was awful for us, one of our worst ever defenders (Sheffield United fans seem to agree too when he was there on loan). He only goes and scores an own-goal today (scored an own goal when he was on loan to us too). Liability proven.

Ebanks-Landell was brilliant for us on loan at the end of last season, if he can perform to the standards he did last season for us, then Shrewsbury have a decent player on their hands. Not seen today’s own goal yet.

Very comfortable win today. Restricted Tranmere to a couple of long pot shots. Ben Close has the goal of the season wrapped up already. Should have been a bigger score line, 2 border line offsides, hit the post and 2nd week we've had a shot cleared off the line by our own player. Looked dangerous at set pieces and scored from one. Andy Cannon looks a player.

Really was a shame we let Andy Cannon leave... for nothing as well. He fell out with Keith Hill, he’s a cracking player with a lot of potential, wish him all the very best!

Was expecting more from Rotherham, they bossed the opening stages and we weren't able to get going at all. Very lightweight up front but defended well. Good move from a free kick before half time and Walker did well just smashing the ball into the box.

2nd half could have been very different if the Rotherham header had gone either side of Vickers. Instead we scored and happy to soak up the pressure. Cracking defensive performance, getting bodies on the line to keep the clean sheet. Rotherham ran out of ideas and kept hoofing up which Bolger was happy to deal with.

Great result, not a classic but ground it out!

Groundhog day for us. Saw the lineup - thought, oh better, saw the formation, thought, give Blackpool the points.
Carbon copy of last week, 1st half, shocking, tactics, set up, un fit players, difference was terrible individual error (Oxley) and Blackpool could finish. Last week the game should have been over at half time, this time it was.
Finally Bond moves to 4-4-2 after 50 minutes and lo and behold we look far better. Blackpool completely comfortable, neat on the ball, good pressing and physical when they needed to be, wouldn't be surprised to see them top 6 come the end of the season.

What has happened post game though was more interesting. Bond's post match interview to BBC Essex was bizarre as you like, threw his players under the bus and would literally not take any responsibility for the defeat. He sounded desperate, senile and like he wasn't at the match. The only thing he'd concede was he maybe shouldn't have started Ridgewell due to him not actually being fit. He was appalling, probably the worst Southend debut since Neville Southall.

Not got a clue what our left back was doing. The most pointless red card ever and can have no complaints.

Such an odd interview, like it was maybe January, things were going badly and he was looking for a way out, but no, it's 2 games into the season and the worst thing about us so far has been his negative tactics and convoluted formations.
They can be easily fixed but I think he's too stubborn and doesn't realise he is no longer working with premier league calibre players.
Let's hope Harry gets a job somewhere soon cos he'll be off quick smart.

I did not think it was as comfortable as you are making out to be honest. I thought we were actually the better side in midfield in the first half and played some really good stuff at times. The difference between the two sides was in the final third, where you had far more cutting edge, but we were competitive.

If we play like that against the lesser teams I think we will be OK this season.

Oxford United are going up.

A very enjoyable game to watch. Lovely volley by Cameron Brannagan.

Big up to John Mousinho on playing his 500th senior game. And Rob Dickie was magnificent today especially with some of his dribbles out of defence.

Ben Woodburn wins miss of the year already though!

Reflecting on today.

We were totally appalling. To fail to score against a side made up of kids, literally kids, is a disgrace.

3 disallowed goals, all iffy shouldn't take away from how poor it was.

However, what a fucking result from Bolton. Some of the kids couldn't control the ball and yet managed to draw today is outstanding. Unbelievable effort from all of them.

Bolton fans were brilliant, each of the 7000 odd on their feet singing in the final few minutes. Good luck guys.

I thought we looked very comfortable before Baptiste went off very much in control but no cutting edge. After the injury it was a different story with Sheaf moving into the back four it unsettled the shape and balance and Dale started to threaten. Lots of chances at both ends but neither side looked like scoring. Dale’s goal looked soft and I can understand your feelings given how late our equaliser was though Sadlier did take it well
Given our lack of a striker and no back up centre half I will take being unbeaten at present I doubt many teams will take much at your place this season you look a well drilled and organised side.

We started quite slowly I felt but grew into it. Whether that coincided with the Baptiste injury I’m not entirely sure. Any update on his injury? Didn’t look good. Thought both teams looked comfortable on the ball but a little toothless at times, we were missing a couple of key players due to injury and already suspension! Our goal was soft, however I think we were unlucky not to score the one that hit the post first half. Last 10/15 mins you had us penned in but I don’t think we did ourselves any favours as we invited it way too much. The corner we conceded was completely avoidable too. Great header though and like I said, draw was probably the correct outcome. We definitely look better than last season, so with some players back in the squad hopefully we will only get better. Good luck for the rest of the season.

Can't believe how many of our fans are trying to justify it. Our players should be ashamed of themselves.

Totally agree that a draw was the right result I certainly don’t see you flirting with relegation this season. Looks like it’s his Achilles so doubt we will see him again. Good luck to yourselves too

It was definitely competitive for large parts (end of the first half and second half at 1-0 in particular), but I’d still say it ended up about as comfortable a result as we could hope for. 3 (?) disallowed goals, another blocked by our own player, another cannoned (pardon the pun..) off the post. It could have been a lot more.

In the last fifteen minutes you had a lot of chances when we had to chase the game, but I don't think you created much in the first half. At 1-0 Monthe had a free header from six yards out and it would have been interesting had that gone in......

The Wombles have been a real bogey team when we have played them at home so even more encouraging to come back from a goal down and win -and thoroughly deserved it was
They are a difficult team to play against and scored a good goal to lead at the interval
The introduction of Madden for the second half changed the match entirely, the guy is a gem of a player in his work rate, enthusiasm, oh yes he scores as well ! Early days certainly promising, for sure we have some good players in the squad with some very promising development lads champing at the bit

I think we might go under the radar this season mate. Not particularly tipped but a solid squad is being put together.

Our GK had nothing to do the whole game really. If you had scored from the corner I expect we'd have stepped it up a few gears to be honest. We didnt need get out of 2nd gear. Couldn't see Tranmere scoring at all apart from one good run by the midfielder who put one just wide. You guys played some good passing in the midfield, but very much kept at arms length by Naylor and the midfield which lead to quite a few poor long range shots or long punts over the top. Our back four won everything all game.

I was responding to the initial post which suggested it was the kind of game where the home team has 80% possession and the opposition are just camped on the edge of their eighteen yard box. It was not that kind of game at all. We had long periods of good possession when we were on top, but the difference in class between the teams was around the eighteen yard box, as I said previously.

In the first half I thought you were poor and it needed a worldy for you to take the lead.

Especially if we get one or 2 of the players in the stands who were watching the game yesterday as the squad would have depth in key positions.
